She’s home from Uni and would like to celebrate EID, (we live in a really white area, the closest authentic restaurant is 40 miles away) I’ve done a google search and there’s so much choice I’m not sure where to begin.

Could anyone help me please, are there some strict No’s as to what I shouldn’t cook (I know about Pork) is there anything that absolutely signifies EID (apologies if that isn’t the right terminology) that I should absolutely make?

If anyone has a little meal plan to share that would be awesome please.

Thanks in advance

Thank you for all of the lovely messages, we had a wonderful time, I did a sort of meze type with lamb, prawns, salad, flat breads etc.

For those of you who disagree a with ‘it’ I don’t care, I love my daughter and will support her 100%.

@Frenchy163 that's wondeful.

Which uni please did your dd go to.

As pp said no matter what she does in future she will remember your support.

Re Christmas that's a more layered complicated "festival" with all sorts incorporated and it's not soley religious.

@Frenchy163 I hope you and your daughter had a great day, and thank you for standing by your daughter - that's the best present you could ever give her.

Btw, @Frenchy163 , we now have a board for Muslim Mumsnetters and you'd be very welcome to join in over there, too.

Why not

It's a perfectly valid question which relates to the OP

Your mezze sounds amazing OP. I bet she had the best Eid. Like others have said, the best gift you have given her is love and acceptance. You sound like a wonderful mother 😊

TakeMe2Insanity · 11/04/2024 08:27

@Frenchy163 yay! You sound like a lovely mum.

I recently watched a video about someone reflecting on the friends they’d lost after coming to Islam. She said “everyone said I’d left them
but the reality was they’d left me” I’d say this is true for many. Just keep being you.

Genuinely curious how so?

Im guessing some ppl might want to know which uni because they might be able to point out the Muslim resources there...some ppl arent aware of the Islamic societies etc..
