Who's up and what's keeping you awake?

Been awake since around midnight here with a poorly DC. Been waiting (a long time) for a 111 callback. Chased them up and they said they'll call back asap as we've been waiting so long.

Currently watching Gordon Ramsey's Behind Bars whilst watching poorly DC sleep whilst awaiting the call back.

What's everyone else doing awake at this awful hour?

Hope they feel better soon and you get whatever support you need.

I've got indigestion I ate too much too late.....its ridiculous totally self sabotage and actually just not good for me or my sleep

Oh no, that's a horrid feeling. The trying to prop yourself up until the feeling passes.

Was it anything particularly nice you had to eat that caused it?

Just back into bed with a cup of tea after checks on the lambing shed - 2 nice sets of twins so I've penned them up and left them to bond.

Need to go back out around 5 for the next check so really need to settle down but I'm wide awake 😩

Hope your little one feels better soon @kefirgiraffe and I hope your indigestion goes away @whatsoccuringnow

Fish and chips for dinner and half an easter egg and some wine.. ..on first night of holiday but still not good choices if affecting me like this!! Exactly, sat up waiting for it to ease!

Oh that's so lovely!! I wish that's why I was awake! Do you just generally leave them to it to birth? How many sheep are left to birth?

Oh I feel for you, I really do!

Even just the wine nowadays makes me sleep terribly.

Generally the ewes will get on with it so we hang back and watch but will intervene if there's a problem.

We then pen them individually with their lambs so they can clean them off, bond with them and feed them without any interference from other ewes - we can sometimes have ewes that will steal another's lambs which is less than helpful!

I just wish it would stop raining so I can get some of them out to grass - the nursery shed is racking and stacking and I'm desperate to turn them out to graze.

Oh god, toothache is the worst!! But the relief you get when it goes is blissful!

Oh and we've had 78 girls lamb so far with just over 100 left so I still have a few weeks of being awake at stupid o'clock ahead of me!

ConsuelaHammock · 03/04/2024 03:37

Calving. Taking turns with husband atm to check cameras and visit calving pens.

Eminybob · 03/04/2024 03:38

I have a terrible stomach ache and have just been sick. The stomach pain is worse when I lie down so I'm currently sat up in bed.
Also have a sore throat which has been made worse by the being sick.
Feeling very sorry for myself indeed.

Also have 5 yo in bed, he was lying completely horizontal across the bed when I came back from the bathroom but I managed to wrangle him to DHs side who has decamped off to DSs room. It's like bloody musical beds in this house at night.

Helplessandheartbroke · 03/04/2024 03:39

Ds woke up at 11.30pm and is still awake 😥had me up at 2.30am yesterday too so 5 hours sleep in the last 2 nights. Oh and I work full time. Sat here crying and feeling sorry for myself.

Hope your dc is OK x

Oh more baby animals!! Do cows need support with calving or do they just get on with it unless intervention is required, like the sheep?

@kefirgiraffe

Oh yes!!! I am quite happy reading Mnet at 3.30am - cos I’m not in pain anymore!!
It was either a tomato pip or some tiger bread crust that started it off😳 A combination of painkillers, Sensodyne toothpaste and Orajel have finally settled it down!

Oh no that sucks. Tummy bug or something else?

DD was sick, I think from high fever and I think she must be coming down with tonsillitis which always makes my two vomit.

Wishing you a speedy recovery and some sleep!

Oh that is so miserable, bless you.

You know the mantra "this too shall pass"...but it doesn't help how hideous it is in the meantime.

Sleep deprivation is honestly just horrendous. Sending love.

Oh poor you! I remember those sort of nights! DS once came in to us in the night, saying he felt sick and promptly vomited all over me😱
I hope you soon get some rest x

I am the same when migraines lift, I do a happy dance around the house and tell anyone that will listen how amazing it is not to have a migraine any more!!

Ooh, tiger bread. I'm quite peckish from being awake since midnight, I could fancy some of that with some mature cheese and pickle.

My nephew struggles too, melatonin has helped him. I'm sure you're aware of it so I won't be patronising and ask if you've tried it!

@kefirgiraffe 2mg every night! Doesn't work for us. Have you had a call back yet?

purple5ky · 03/04/2024 03:51

Cat has decided to wake up and be a nuisance,
he will sit on top of the chest of drawers in the bedroom and bat things off it until I get out of bed, then he'll jump off when I get up and he proceeds to gollop around the flat for a chase 😹 now I can hear him batting his toy with balls that spin around in..😴 little monkey he is, clock changes doesn't just mess humans up.. lol.
