Who's up and what's keeping you awake?

Been awake since around midnight here with a poorly DC. Been waiting (a long time) for a 111 callback. Chased them up and they said they'll call back asap as we've been waiting so long.

Currently watching Gordon Ramsey's Behind Bars whilst watching poorly DC sleep whilst awaiting the call back.

What's everyone else doing awake at this awful hour?

@kefirgiraffe 2mg every night! Doesn't work for us. Have you had a call back yet?

Yes, just called actually. They've made an appointment for our own GP to call us back in the morning (well later in the morning, as it is early morning now 🫣!).

Possibly tonsillitis, possibly scarlet fever. Or a random flu-like virus. Poor thing.

Ddog is guarding me - apparently - by doing little woofs in her sleep!🙄

Night feeding. Baby actually miracously slept the first part of the night better than usual (2 and a half hours rather than hourly...) but that was when I was awake overthinking everything?! Baby is now on their 4th wake up since. It's gonna be a long day.

Ahh, precious times. Enjoy the snuggles!

Do you have to get up for anything/another DC? Or can you try and sleep when baby is finally back asleep?

Cat has decided to wake up and be a nuisance,
he will sit on top of the chest of drawers in the bedroom and bat things off it until I get out of bed, then he'll jump off when I get up and he proceeds to gollop around the flat for a chase 😹 now I can hear him batting his toy with balls that spin around in..😴 little monkey he is, clock changes doesn't just mess humans up.. lol.

Ha ha, cats are (gorgeous) little shits aren't they! One of ours used to flick the lamp wire over and over when he wanted us to get up and feed him breakfast.

Woke up with the lurgy on Monday (usual chesty cough, banging headache, earache and sore throat that seems to be doing the rounds at the moment), gotten worse and now feel like death warmed up with a temp of 39.

Am now emailing all those I was supposed to be having a meeting with today to cancel/postpone. Unfortunately I absolutely have to go into work for about an hour and a half as I'm the boss, my assistant manager is on leave, and nobody will get a food parcel today if I don't (I run a Foodbank).

I only had it about 3 bloody weeks ago!

Also got rotten period pains and can't take anymore paracetamol for another 3 hours (unable to have ibuprofen).

Woe is me.

I'm sorry to all of you who are also having a rotten time - with illness or otherwise.

Oh more baby animals!! Do cows need support with calving or do they just get on with it unless intervention is required, like the sheep?

They can do it themselves but the calf will need to get the colostrum asap and the navel needs treated with iodine. Cows are more predictable than heifers as it’s not their first calf. If the cow is struggling to deliver, it’s really hard work to help her.
My husband went to bed early last night and my son was watching a movie with me. My son went to check the cow we were watching about 10.30pm and knew she was getting ready to calf. At 11 before heading to bed, he checked the camera on his phone and watched the calf literally drop out. Husband and son made sure calf was ok. Went out about 1/2 hour later to check everything and then headed back to bed. I checked again at 2 and had a walk around the next cows due to calf. We swap at 4 am ish .

She's cooled a little and is now sleeping which she really needs, so will leave her in bed until the GP calls in a few hours unless anything changes. A&E was going to be my next option if her fever was still as high as it was and they hadn't called back!

Oh bless you, a temperature of that high will make you feel absolutely terrible even without everything else.

You're amazing for the work you do for a food bank. Thank you.

Haha, that's exactly what I call him when he is doing this.. a little shit but a cute little shit.

Lol they are so funny and smart, mine will literally stare at the thrive pot and if I ignore him he will headbutt it off the table and squeak at me 😹

inigomontoyahwillcox · 03/04/2024 04:15

@Helplessandheartbroke oh love, it's absolute torture isn't it. Was also a full time worker with a young child that didn't sleep and distinctly remember those lonely nights and desperate feeling of exhaustion.

I know I will sound like mother of the year here - but can you stick on his favourite channel/cartoons on at low volume and catch some sleep on the sofa whilst he watches? Sometimes needs must.

NB: DD is now a teen and also on melatonin (has been for a good while) due to ADHD.

pinkhorsesarentunicorns · 03/04/2024 04:17

Sat in A and E waiting for a bed in a ward. I have cholecystitis. Basically I have a gallbladder full of stones that keeps on getting infected. However with 50+ people in A and E, I am looking at 24 hours+ before
This admission isn't my first rodeo with this either- hopefully they will agree to take the fucker out this time.

Until then I'm tired, in pain, feeling and being 🤢 and thoroughly fed up.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/04/2024 04:17

Working

Fed baby and over shoulder as reflux

He's now asleep so I'm going to sleep

connie26 · 03/04/2024 04:17

Teenage dds upset me last night so I'm awake thinking about that. Somehow they managed to sneakily order Uber eats desserts and I was charged through my PayPal account! Youngest is meant to be going out with friend and her family today but I'm debating whether to let her.

Haha! A cat?? She’s a German Shepherd who loves her sleep! She’s got off the bed now and is back on the floor… and gone back to sleep🙄

inigomontoyahwillcox · 03/04/2024 04:19

Thanks @kefirgiraffe - it's the chills, that horrid whole body ache and not knowing where to put yourself with a temperature isn't it? Funny to think it's actually part of our body's defence mechanism!

That's very kind of you to say so - TBH being able to support people in crisis is an absolute privilege, I love my job (most of the time!).

Copperoliverbear · 03/04/2024 04:20

Bless you hope DC is okay.
I have heartburn as I asked DH to cook my steak plain have a feeling he put Worcestershire sauce on it can't get rid of the heartburn even after taking meds.

TiredCatLady · 03/04/2024 04:29

Answering work messages (different time zone) and generally worrying about work. I’ll be like a zombie by about 2pm.

Helplessandheartbroke · 03/04/2024 04:30

@inigomontoyahwillcox thank you for your post. I wish it was that simple... I'm trying to keep him as quiet as possible as were staying at my gp for a few days for childcare help, I can't take my eyes off him and I'm being kicked, scratched etc. Sorry you've been here too I wouldn't wish this on anyone. I think we will pack up and go home early tomorrow I'm worry about him disturbing gp x
