YEP. The sea.

Amelie2024 · 02/04/2024 23:13

Yep, the sea or a waterfall

PiggieWig · 02/04/2024 23:14

A valley with a lake

fatandunfitandmidforties · 02/04/2024 23:14

A river maybe rather than the sea. Not sure I fancy the salt and wind if the sea but I love the reflection of the sun
On water

kafkascastle · 02/04/2024 23:14

A loch surrounded by mountains. Possibly with a castle in there somewhere.

Candleabra · 02/04/2024 23:15

God I’m so boring, even in a fantasy house I start worrying about coastal erosion, windy weather and the impact of salt on the woodwork….

Topofthemountain · 02/04/2024 23:15

The sea would be good, but overlooking a school field is pretty much ok, so I'm happy with that.

AstralSpace · 02/04/2024 23:16

Mountains and forests

Mrbumpssmile · 02/04/2024 23:17

Cardigan Bay

Feelingstrange2 · 02/04/2024 23:17

We do look over the sea.

So, maybe, be even closer...

But the winds and rain can be hellish if they are in our direction so I'm.not sure I'd want to be even more exposed! And I'd probably dream of the cliffside slipping in my vivid dreams!

@Candleabra you are right to do so.

alonglongshot · 02/04/2024 23:18

I'm not so keen on peace and quiet so I'd choose a busy pretty high street full of independent shops, coffee places and opportunities to people watch. Actually, near a canal in Amsterdam would be my ideal.

SwedishEdith · 02/04/2024 23:19

Solway Firth. Sea but with land features as well. High up so could sea any boats.

SabreIsMyFave · 02/04/2024 23:20

I do currently overlook the houses opposite! Though I am about 100 feet away - (both got long front gardens,) and I am elevated some 8 feet above them, (and 8 feet above the road.)

But if I go into my front garden (or back,) and look west - or look out of a west facing window, I can see hills and vales and woodlands... And I see some cracking sunsets. Smile It's lovely. But I would love to be looking over the sea. 🌊

Derwentwater 🏞

Bobje · 03/04/2024 01:03

We are slightly elevated overlooking our town’s cricket pitch and clubhouse. Behind our house is woods.
That’s pretty perfect to us.

LenaLamont · 03/04/2024 01:04

Trees and a lake.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 03/04/2024 01:22

Leaving this here for @AstralSpace

what would your house ideally be overlooking?
Gowlett · 03/04/2024 01:24

The Mediterranean.

mayorofcasterbridge · 03/04/2024 01:26

Any waterway! The sea though as first choice, but a lake, a river, a waterfall, even a stream, would do!

Cattenberg · 03/04/2024 01:37

An alpine lake. Preferably one that warms up in summer.

webuiltthiscityonrockandwheat · 03/04/2024 01:39

A horse field. We are lucky and look over fields and moorland but no horses sadly

Lookingoutside · 03/04/2024 01:45

The sea

echt · 03/04/2024 03:41

The sea in a quiet area.

The sea is only a few minutes down the road from me. However the sea view where I am is very much compromised by traffic noise, and I can't see the point of sitting behind double-glazed windows in the summer, running the aircon, unable to use the garden because of the traffic.

ConsuelaHammock · 03/04/2024 04:10

A lake.

NonBinaryBlanket · 03/04/2024 04:16

The River Thames. Facing west from Canary Wharf.
