Is it really strange for a mum to share a bed with her adult sons once in a while?

It's not an everyday thing, but once in a while.
Usually the youngest (23 years old)
This week said mum and 27 year old son shared a bed as they were travelling to see family and there weren't enough beds for everyone. It would have been the sofa for one of them otherwise.

Is it really weird ?

No, not weird. I have shared a bed with my adult sons when necessary- so what?

RavenswoodFalls · 02/04/2024 21:36

I guess if they’re both comfortable with it there’s no issue.

I would have personally preferred the sofa option rather than sharing with a parent, but people have different comfort levels.

not weird, we camp together, so that amounts to the same thing, crammed together side by side in a little tent for a week several times a year - very common in all camping families

Not weird assuming they don't sleep in the nude.

DisforDarkChocolate · 02/04/2024 21:39

I'd have taken the sofa. Not sure my adult children need to know how much I fart at night or wake up with my cuddling them.

Why What do you think will happen

LauderSyme · 02/04/2024 21:39

If it was purely by choice rather than necessity I'd think it was weird. Otherwise no.

Octavia64 · 02/04/2024 21:39

I would be pretty uncomfortable with this and would take the sofa

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 02/04/2024 21:39

travelling sharing a hotel room surely sometimes these things happen when the room cost is such that there is only one (all be it )large bed that's within budget.

Mazuslongtoenail · 02/04/2024 21:40

I think it’s more weird that someone sleeps somewhere inconvenient because of the notion that it would be inappropriate for two family members to share the available sleeping space!

User0311 · 02/04/2024 21:40

Not strange at all if both are comfortable

Bananabredd · 02/04/2024 21:41

I think it's weird. As a woman I can't imagine ever having shared a bed with my wonderful dad. Was lovely when I was a little girl though.

I don't think it's normal behaviour.

Why do you think it's weirder than sharing a bed with a parent of the same sex though? It's just sleeping a couple of feet away from your parent.

caringcarer · 02/04/2024 21:53

I'm pretty sure my DS would just take the sofa.

TitaniasAss · 02/04/2024 21:57

No it's not weird.

Noyesnoyesok · 02/04/2024 21:59

I wouldn’t mainly because I snore really loudly!

Pluvas · 02/04/2024 22:02

It's weird

Berlinlover · 02/04/2024 22:03

It’s very odd indeed.

JockTamsonsBairns · 02/04/2024 22:07

Different strokes for different folks, surely?

A close friend of mine has her teenage son (14) sleep in her bed most nights.
I wouldn't feel comfortable sleeping with my 16yo son.
But, I would easily do it if needs must?

NowThatYoureGone · 02/04/2024 22:08

I don't think it's weird.
It's just sleeping 😴

AllTheMiniEggs · 02/04/2024 22:08

Not judging at all, each to their own and all that...

But my 20 year old son would be completely mortified at the very idea - and we're very close!

everythinglooksbetterpaintedblack · 02/04/2024 22:09

I would not do this.
It's just awkward.

ForMerryRoseViewer · 02/04/2024 22:10

So weird 😭

Yearendjoy · 02/04/2024 22:10

I think it's weird and would never happen in my family.

Tel12 · 02/04/2024 22:12

Yes, it's odd and definitely not the norm.
