Happy Easter 🐰🐣

I've just got up after going to bed just before 6pm last night! Must have needed the sleep 💤 First cuppa is made & I'm enjoying the peace and quiet apart from the house noises and birds outside 😊. I told the girls I'd do hot cross buns for breakfast if they wanted to join me, so I'll wait a bit longer before toasting mine.

I don't think we have much at all planned for today - there's some normal housey stuff to be done, but not much so I might just spend the day crafting once it's done.
Dd1 will most likely have some college work so I'll enquire as to its progress & dd2 will have maths but I doubt she'll do it today. My dad might pop in at some point, not seen him for a week or so.

We're having pork for tea - someone forgot to check out the online Tesco shop, and then forgot to nip to the meat market in town yesterday 🙄 so no lamb. On the up-side, we're using up the random contents well since I was ordering it for the middle of the week!

Then showers & relax while eating more chocolate 😋 before bed.

What about all of you? 🐰

Revelling in silence and solitude as kids are at their dad's. Pub lunch later with my family and hopefully partner coming over tonight for some much overdue time together. Pretty awesome all round 😁

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 31/03/2024 09:36

Good morning Lucysmam and others and a happy Easter to all.
I'm not a lamb eater either. Today I have been up for ages. I've been to Tesco for fresh crusty bread and some bits I need for later. My family are coming for lunch and, as usual, I have seriously overdone the amount of food. I'm having a buffet because it's easier for the boys (5&2) to manage and I'm feeding the five thousand. 🙄 It does mean I won't need any food for days.
Have a nice day.

Justonedayatatime11 · 31/03/2024 09:36

DH has just gone down to make me a coffee and bring the lamb in from the outside fridge. Big roast for lunch with my dad and brother. And then once they've gone home it'll be pjs on and curling up with an egg and a book!
Hope everyone has a lovely Easter

Happy Easter Bunny GIF

Morning! also pork for dinner. Having a lazy day in. Dull weather so no inclination to go anywhere, I am retired though, so most of my time is my own, therefore I have 7 days a week to please myself! 😄

Breathmiller · 31/03/2024 09:38

Morning Lucysmam.

We are heading out to my daughter's house as she is hosting lunch and an Easter Egg hunt this year. The delights of adult children who now have homes of their own.

Happy Easter everyone

emeraldsapphire · 31/03/2024 09:39

Currently at DCs swimming lessons.
Then home to do the egg hunt!
DH is going to go for a run, I'll do a workout, DC will watch a film then we'll have lunch.
Then off to ILs to do another egg hunt and have a roast.

Alwaystired23 · 31/03/2024 09:39

Happy Easter, everyone. I'm still in bed, I'm never in bed at this time usually, I'm still on yesterdays time, so I'm telling myself it's really only 8.30, not 9.30. I hate the clocks changing. We're taking dc out for a seaside walk and then off to my parents for Easter dinner. Hopefully, drop off and Easter egg to the in laws on the way, as they live close to my parents. We've been doing some DIY over the last few days, so it will be nice to have a day "off."

Meadowfinch · 31/03/2024 09:40

DS is at his dad's so I'm making rhubarb & ginger jam. The ginger is peeled, chopped & crystallising as I type, and there's 5kg of rhubarb sticks by the sink, waiting to be washed & sliced.

My house smells lovely. 🙂

Pepsimaxedout · 31/03/2024 09:40

I'm just slobbing around with the kids this morning. We've done the egg hunt already and they've had chocolate for breakfast. We might get out for a walk if I can be arsed cos it's a lovely day here. We're going to my parents later this afternoon and we'll probably end up getting a takeout for tea.

RickyGervaislovesdogs · 31/03/2024 09:41

The Easter bunny has been!
Just got up, makes a change from getting up at 6am, slept quite well. Will vacuum the house, then shower shortly.

Vegan & meat roast for lunch, a walk, film and some wine!

Happy Easter all.

LemonySnickets · 31/03/2024 09:42

Day off work today so I'm still in bed! I've had 2 coffees and will head out for a run soon. DS is back from his dads later so we'll have our Easter eggs then. Sunday dinner later and a pub quiz tonight!

BibbleandSqwauk · 31/03/2024 09:47

@Meadowfinch that sounds amazing. Can you link or explain the method?

ssd · 31/03/2024 09:51

Still in bed looking forward to my tea and toast

Xiaoxiong · 31/03/2024 09:54

As I am still in bed at 10am, it will be brunch not breakfast with Easter service on the radio
Walk to the beach
Read book
Make roast (chicken, roast potatoes, carrots and celery braised with dill butter and white wine, apple crumble)
Eat Easter eggs for dessert
Watch a film

Absolutely nothing else! I

itsgettingweird · 31/03/2024 09:55

Sounds like a nice day.

Ds went training this morning. Luckily 5am alarm and not usual 4am so that counteracted the clock change 😂. I'm helping at a meet for his club this afternoon.
Packing inbetween as off to London for the week tomorrow as he's competing.

We are having pasta and chicken for dinner which is already made and just needs heating!

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 31/03/2024 09:55

Normal Sunday plus chocolate

Whiskyfromsmallglasses · 31/03/2024 09:56

Morning. My ds is too old for egg hunts now ( as he sits with his hood up, brooding ) we are having a slow morning then we are going to the beach later for a walk and maybe a dip

FlorencenotRatchet · 31/03/2024 09:56

Morning @lucysmam and all.
Happy Easter Sunday.
Just had tea and toast in bed and contemplating getting up.
Out for lunch with the family.
Some basic tidying later but otherwise a very lazy and relaxing day. Bliss.
Enjoy your day everyone.

Theoldwoman · 31/03/2024 09:56

Gosh three similar threads today!

Had a great day, almost 5pm here, waiting for it to cool down so I can walk the dog.

ohtowinthelottery · 31/03/2024 09:57

More outdoor jobs - we did some yesterday - making the most of the fact that it's not actually raining before it rains again tomorrow

Alsonification · 31/03/2024 09:59

Happy Easter all.
My dd is 26 today so me & ds sang her happy birthday & gave her pressies. Then I gave them their Easter eggs & they gave me one Blush
Having a lazy enough day, watching Arsenal hopefully beat Man City later & then dinner in my parents house which is turkey & ham and all the trimmings. Followed by birthday cake!

daffophil · 31/03/2024 10:00

Just started my own one of these threads then immediately saw this so I'll copy my post below 😂

We are having a chilled day today. We went out into the city on Friday with dc for shopping and activities which was a hectic day. Yesterday we had friends round for a hunt in the garden and bbq while the weather was nice. Today it's really cloudy despite the forecast being good so I'm taking that as a sign to stay home and eat chocolate in peace. I do need to pop out and get a few small bits of shopping later. And I'm planning on making a cake and taking the little ones for a walk this afternoon. Hopefully older dc will make plans with friends.

It'll be a big lamb roast late afternoon and waiting to see if The Greateat Story Ever Told is on.

Meadowfinch · 31/03/2024 10:00

@BibbleandSqwauk

Peel & chop the ginger finely, and simmer in weak sugar syrup for 15 minutes, then drain.

Cut the rhubarb into slices and layer it in a saucepan with 900gm sugar to 1kg rhubarb, starting with a sugar layer. Leave it for 2 hours to draw some of the moisture out of the rhubarb.

Then add the ginger and liquid pectin, and bring the pan gradually to the boil. Keep on a rolling boil for 7-8 minutes, then put into sterilised jars & seal.

@Theoldwoman there wasn't when I posted 🤷‍♀️ I do scroll and check first!
