Happy Easter 🐰🐣

I've just got up after going to bed just before 6pm last night! Must have needed the sleep 💤 First cuppa is made & I'm enjoying the peace and quiet apart from the house noises and birds outside 😊. I told the girls I'd do hot cross buns for breakfast if they wanted to join me, so I'll wait a bit longer before toasting mine.

I don't think we have much at all planned for today - there's some normal housey stuff to be done, but not much so I might just spend the day crafting once it's done.
Dd1 will most likely have some college work so I'll enquire as to its progress & dd2 will have maths but I doubt she'll do it today. My dad might pop in at some point, not seen him for a week or so.

We're having pork for tea - someone forgot to check out the online Tesco shop, and then forgot to nip to the meat market in town yesterday 🙄 so no lamb. On the up-side, we're using up the random contents well since I was ordering it for the middle of the week!

Then showers & relax while eating more chocolate 😋 before bed.

What about all of you? 🐰

Good morning @lucysmam and all, I have just sat down with a cup of coffee and a hot cross bun.
I have done the ironing and put it away, spent an hour or so finishing planting up a border in the back garden and I have tidied up the remaining bits so it’s looking much better. It’s still all horribly muddy ☹️
DH has faffed about with the muddy lawn so he can reseed it later after he returns from the dog walk.
I’m cooking lamb, new potatoes and peas, carrots, green beans for dinner, sticky toffee pudding for dessert with ice cream.
I want to do some more of an Aran cardigan I’m knitting for my great niece - I have to concentrate hard because I can’t remember 12 rows of pattern 🙄
It was beautifully sunny first thing, it’s now grey skies.
🐣

Morning everyone. We’ve done an egg hunt this morning with dd9 then she ate chocolate for breakfast. My sister has been round to drop eggs off/collect the eggs we bought for her step dc and I’ve just eaten some toasted tea cakes with a cup of tea.

Dd9 has asked to go for a walk today so we’re going round the local lake/park with my other sister and my niece then back to our house for a buffet tea.

Tonight dh is going out and I’m having a movie night and eating copious amounts of chocolate my 3 girls which will be nice.

My son (arrived last night about 10.30) discussed the time change and were watching the extended (omg looong) version of Lord of the Rings and both were in shock when it was over and it was 2.30am! Of course we forget the clocks had automatically gone forward.
So slow start today! I've had breakfast and listened to the Archers and cleaned up the kitchen after my son's marathon eating session last night. Lamb is warming to room temperature and it will go in the oven about noon. Too chilly to eat outside as we have the last couple of years. Son will walk the dogs while I do the lunch. DD is in bed recovering from flu but she has promised to make a cake (it was my birthday yesterday) so seems like that might be for later not after lunch!
Then we will settle down for a film this evening.

Morning @lucysmam. Happy Easter everyone 🐣!- I've been chilling all morning. I normally have my Dad to stay for Easter but I'm still recovering from surgery so wouldn't be able to do much or drive him around like I normally do. So I'm having a quiet weekend at home.

Teen DD has finally emerged from bed and is in the shower. I'm waiting for her to come down so I can say (fake enthusiasm), "Hey, the Easter Bunny came!" and she can roll her eyes. She saw her egg already 'cos I left it on the stairs by accident when I was unpacking the Tesco shop (I was planning to hide it in my bedroom) Easter Blush.

I've already sampled some of my own egg but just a small bit 'cos it's very rich. I'll have more after dinner.

DCat1 has been upstairs chilling on DD's bed and DCat2 is still sulking 'cos we caught her yesterday (she doesn't like being handled) and put some flea treatment on her. DD still has scars scratch marks.

We're having lamb for dinner.

DD is heading out tonight with her friends and I'm planning to binge watch more of 'Normal People'. I watched the first two episodes last night.

In previous years when it was just DH and me Easter was only noted by the chocolate consumption.
Now we have DD who is 2, so we had hot cross buns for breakfast, then did an Easter egg hunt with cardboard ones she painted yesterday with a proper chocolate egg and some other Easter goodies as the last thing to find.
Now I'm making a lamb roast for lunch (never roasted lamb before so fingers crossed it comes out ok).
This afternoon will be playing in the garden if it's nice, or a film if not. Maybe Zootopia for the bunny Easteryness of it Easter Smile

It’s a fairly normal Sunday here but the sun is shining and it’s feeling very lovely. I had a lie in which felt even longer with the clocks changing. I don’t like losing an hour!

We had hot cross buns and chocolate as a late breakfast with DS and now we’re all chilling, gaming, watching tv, etc. My back has been bad for a while and I’m just about recovering, so I should probably do some exercise. We’re having pie and mash for lunch and then later we’re off to meet family at the pub for a few pints and live music.

The tip is open!!! I'm spring cleaning!!

Meadowfinch · 31/03/2024 18:27

@BibbleandSqwauk 100g of chopped ginger per kg of rhubarb

And 125ml of liquid pectin (I got mine in Waitrose) per kg fruit. Or you can get jam making sugar with pectin already added.

Veryl late to the thread today. But I had a lovely lie in, then a porter about whilst dh mowed the lawn. The DD's came back from their dad and we went out for a lovely lunch with dd 2's boyfriend too. We have all watched the Arsenal game
(Both DD's asleep) and now going to put the clean sheets back on our bed. The hour change has messed up as usual. It's almost 7 already!
But it's been a lovely chilled out day. Back to work at 6am tomorrow for me

IcouldbutIdontwantto · 31/03/2024 18:55

Love reading all of these. I got up with 2yo DD this morning, and we played games until DH got up, then we had hot cross buns for breakfast. DD doesn't like chocolate (weirdo) - we still did an egg hunt, but they were plastic with small toys inside, she loved it so we had to hide them again, and again, then she hid them for us. This went on for about an hour until DH and I decided it was too cold 😆. DH took DD to the playground this afternoon while I cooked roast lamb for dinner and did some cleaning. He's just putting her to bed now, then we'll gorge on Easter eggs while watching something on the tele.

Also late to the thread.
Slept badly (in church till 11pm last night, then lost an hour, then disturbed when DH woke and left for sunrise service)

Got up early, cooked a shed load of food and packed it in car.
Went to church, unpacked car, sang in choir at church.
Shared table Easter dinner at church then egg hunt for all the kids.

Got home and did some gardening for a couple of hours and I'm now soaking in the bath.
DCs and DH are gaming, so it is very peaceful!

Might have to be an early night.

Taytocrisps · 31/03/2024 18:58

How is it 7 p.m. already?

lucysmam · 31/03/2024 20:01

@Taytocrisps my living room clock still says 7pm - most confusing & thought I had an extra hour of reading ahead 🙄

I'm just about to break into my egg after a chilled day. Didn't get to my jacket but neither of the girls wants to do anything tomorrow so I'll do it then.

Hope ypu've all had a lovely, peaceful, day 🐇
