Which seemingly small chore do you find overwhelming

For me it's getting the bags in and sorted after work/school/nursery. My boot is full of stuff I need to get in and sort and it's such an annoying job I'm just sat here watching Alvin and the chipmunks instead. Doesn't help that it's my birthday and Easter so there's loads more stuff to take out and sort 😅

Putting away the washing although I have got a bit better. <looks at pile of jumpers next to my drawers>

Happy birthday @JackThayer

niki26 · 27/03/2024 21:35

I thought it was two things but seeing a lot on here I agree with!

My original two:-

Cleaning the litter tray and hanging wet washing up to dry!

bellsbuss · 27/03/2024 21:42

Putting away the food shopping, it just seems never ending

The relentless piles of clean washing to take upstairs sort into piles, pair socks up and then put in the right bedrooms

Gives me the rage 😡

I bought a cordless shark hoover and a robot hoover because dragging a heavy hoover round whilst getting caught up with the cables or getting the cable wedged in stuff fills me with rage aswell Confused

I only strip one bed at a time and rotate the days we do it or I get cranky Blush

Cleaning the shower screen aarrggghhhhh

I rinse it down every night when I shower so it's clean but the devil teen and tween then shower and throw a litre of conditioner or hair mask all over the god damn glass after me so by the time it's morning it's stuck like shit to a blanket again ggrrrr

Time to delegate cleaning the shower screen to said teen and tween, I'd say! Might even make them more careful about mucking it up...

piefacedClique · 27/03/2024 21:47

Sorting bloody socks!

Allwelcone · 27/03/2024 22:33

Emptying the compost bin. It's twee and tiny and fills up fast. You have to run the gamut to the end of a muddy garden, possible dog poo if I havnt cleared it yet, to a slug infested dalek bin.
It's always bloody raining too.

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 27/03/2024 22:36

So many things the main ones are

The school bag/stuff. My car is a tip.
Cleaning the fridge.
Putting washing away..

TheSnakeCharmer · 27/03/2024 22:38

Emptying the dishwasher. I absolutely loathe that job! I delegate that and the bins to my husband.

Spywoman · 27/03/2024 22:39

Tidying things away. Especially things that don't belong to me or haven't got a designated place.

Putting away clean washing!

This is not a small chore!!

Essie274 · 27/03/2024 22:42

Mopping the floors.

The process of needing to pick up all the toys/blankets/coats/shoes (which obv happens every day), move the rugs, hoover and THEN mop just feels like one step too far. I pick up the floors and hoover every night, but I honestly can't remember the last time I managed to mop (DH does sometimes! Thank God!). If the house was less cluttered to begin with I think I'd find it easier to get to mopping, but there's just a never ending to-do list in order to get enough storage, organise things properly, cull and de-clutter, etc and it never gets done!

HeadsShouldersTitsandArse · 27/03/2024 22:42

Hanging wet washing on the clothes airer.

I’d rather shit in my hands and clap than do that. It fills me with rage. why is it so fiddly?!

Nepenthe · 27/03/2024 22:49

PTSDBarbiegirl · 27/03/2024 20:48

Hoovering with a too heavy Shark-DH job
Untangling knots in a necklace Chain-DH job
Changing more than 1 beds bedding a day.

Ooh, I love untangling a knot!

I struggle with most housework tbh. It's just tedious and boring and needs doing again almost immediately.

I'm ok with laundry actually. Although not great at putting clean things away. Or putting anything away.

Alicewinn · 27/03/2024 23:02

Laundry - putting it away & folding

sarahc336 · 27/03/2024 23:03

Changing the bed I hate it 🙈

Lifeomars · 27/03/2024 23:07

Causewerethespecialtwo · 27/03/2024 19:12

Putting away clean laundry. I have no problem setting off washing, putting it in the tumble dryer or hanging on the line, and then folding up dry laundry into the basket. But there’s something about putting all the clothes away in drawers and wardrobes that just fills me with dread! 🤷🏼‍♀️

I put a few things away this evening and felt so proud of myself!

Lifeomars · 27/03/2024 23:09

sarahc336 · 27/03/2024 23:03

Changing the bed I hate it 🙈

I hate it so much i have to talk myself through it with encouraging words about how lovely it will feel when I get into my fresh clean bed. I once timed how long it took me, approx 15 minutes because I kept pausing to be pissed off and sorry for myself!

MissCherryCakeyBun · 27/03/2024 23:13

Cleaning the windows on the inside, sorting magazines to throw in recycling and
cleaning the carpets in my car.

Lifeomars · 27/03/2024 23:16

having read this thread I now realise that I hate all of it with a passion, it is so tedious, never ending and reptitious. I do like my home to be clean, tidy and organised and I have a routine but honestly, it looks ok for about half a day and then reverts back to its original state of scruffy and messy. I live alone these days so it is only me that makes the mess and unless I have people round it is only me that sees it. Tomorrow I have made a pact with myself to hoover and steam mop the back room and kitchen but I am already dreading it, it is just so bloody boring.

Neveralonewithaclone · 27/03/2024 23:16

Cooking, i feel like I've been doing it for 150 years.

Putting away the food shopping, it just seems never ending

Yes, so true, doing the food shopping is bad enough without the added task of putting it all away, then it has to be turned into meals!

SlowerMovingVehicle · 27/03/2024 23:24

Washing up. Hate it and hate nagging the dc to do their bit.
Picking bits of rice off the floor
Cleaning ds18's room cos he thinks mess is funny
Changing the bog roll
Wiping surfaces for the 47th time in a day

PurpleWhirple · 27/03/2024 23:26

Blarn · 27/03/2024 19:07

Putting away laundry. I leave it so long it isn't a small jobs.

Putting away dishes. Either from the draining board or the dishwasher. Can't stand putting stuff away.

Exactly the same. Laundry I can procrastinate over for literally weeks. Tend to be forced to clear the draining board a bit sooner but god I hate putting stuff away.

grinandslothit · 27/03/2024 23:37

Cooking

Milkand2sugarsplease · 27/03/2024 23:39

I absolutely hate clearing the plug of any food waste after cooking/washing up. It's by far my biggest pet hate of grown up life!! I'll take any other chore over emptying the plug of soggy, mushy food!!!
