Rank our baby girls names

IDidntWearASmileToday · 23/03/2024 20:06

Expecting a baby girl this summer and DP and I have a list, some he loves, some I love but we both like all the names.

Baby has an older sibling with an 'I' name and last name is double barrelled 'T-F' (ruling out all W names!) middle name will be Holly.

Celeste
Diana
Daphne
Ingrid
Frida
Charlotte
Enid
Helena

Feel free to add any other suggestions of what we may like judging by our list.
thanks!

I would also avoid anything starting with a D! Google the meaning of DTF. Its a really commonly used phrase.
I think Charlotte is the best name on the list :)

Candleabra · 23/03/2024 20:18

How many syllables in the T and F surname?
I’m thinking a short first name, as you have a long surname.

Daichead · 23/03/2024 20:20

I love Diana (due a comeback!)

Helena & Frida are great names and under used.

Not keen on the rest. Enid is horrific.

Celeste
You may also like Edith

17caterpillars1mouse · 23/03/2024 20:22

I love Enid (was our back up choice for dd - there was also an Enid in her nursery)

Also really like Ingrid though if you already have a child with an I name might be best to choose another letter

Have you considered Astrid?

Other suggestions are Evangeline and Helene

I really do love Enid though, it sounds fiesty and strong spirited

MeinKraft · 23/03/2024 20:28

Helena would be my favourite but there aren't any total stinkers there so well done

IDidntWearASmileToday · 23/03/2024 20:28

We did already know the meaning of DTF but DP loves Diana and we thought the acronym had become less common Blush

last name is 2 syllables each

Enid is hideous. Such an ugly sound. I’ve never met an Enid who liked her name.

amusedbush · 23/03/2024 20:31

Please avoid the initials DTF, especially as you already know what it means 🙈

Honestly, I the only name I like from that list is Charlotte. I really don't like Enid but don't mind Edith, which is a similar vibe. Similarly, I prefer Freya to Frida.

Candleabra · 23/03/2024 20:38

Don’t use DTF!

I like Charlotte the most from your list.

Charlotte Holly T…..-F……. is a mouthful though.

You wouldn’t consider Holly as a first name with no middle if you like the name?

B0G0F · 23/03/2024 20:38
  1. Ingrid
  2. Diana
  3. Charlotte
  4. Daphne
  5. Frida
Celeste

Don't know where to rank these:
Helena - only like it said as Helen-a and prefer Helen
Enid - love it but dislike it when said as Eenid. The Welsh pronunciation (En-id) is so nice.

IDidntWearASmileToday · 23/03/2024 21:12

We are using Holly to name her after someone special to us both but would like baby to have her own name.

Is DTF really bad then Blush I thought so to begin with but my friend has a much younger (cooler) sister who assured me it was fine...was she just being nice?! Grin

Enid is my favourite on the list, getting a mixed response though. Thank you everyone so far

Some people won’t get the DTF problem, but I wouldn’t take the chance when there are so many other initials available.

DrRichardWebber · 23/03/2024 21:18

I love Helena and Charlotte. I also love Charlotte shortened to Lottie. Not a fan of any of the others.

YogaLite · 23/03/2024 21:19

I would like to add Amber to your list, lovely warm in colour but strong name.

RampantIvy · 23/03/2024 21:21

I think Charlotte is the best name on the list :)

Every day is a school day.
I googled it because I didn't have a clue what you meant.

I'm not keen on Enid, but I like Edith. I like the other names.

fluffycloudalert · 23/03/2024 21:22

I like Ingrid.

GameOfJones · 23/03/2024 21:25

I would go for Celeste out of your list.

I would avoid DTF and I would also avoid an I name if your eldest's name starts with a letter I. Personal preference but it always sounds a bit twee to me to have sibling names all with the same letter.

Viviennemary · 23/03/2024 21:27

Not keen on
Celeste
Daphne - awful
Enid

Like
Diana
Helena

Rest are ok.

Soowoo · 23/03/2024 21:29

I have never been a fan of Enid.
My favourite from your list is Celeste. (Just to add, I’d never heard of DTF and wouldn’t worry about it personally).

WaltzingWaters · 23/03/2024 21:30

Celeste - lovely
Diana - nice but avoid d
Daphne - ^
Ingrid - no
Frida - lovely
Charlotte - lovely
Enid - no way
Helena - no way

I like Enid.

NaiceUser · 23/03/2024 21:33

You cannot seriously be considering Ingrid?

Picklewicklepickle · 23/03/2024 21:34

Love Ingrid and Frida, had them both on my list.

I had to rule out Helena because I think Hel-ey-na is beautiful but everyone would probably call her Helen-a and I hate Helen!

IDidntWearASmileToday · 23/03/2024 21:48

Just want to throw Ramona into the mix
