The carers allowance thing is just awful. The threshold should be raised anyway, and we need a discussion about whether a cliff edge is sensible. But even within the context of the system we have, it's been so poorly administered.

I find myself agreeing with quite a few of those pledges. 😳(I may need to rethink my vote...)

Grin Count Binface's 2024 manifesto to be Mayor of London.

All sounds pretty good to me.

dontcallmelen · 08/04/2024 14:03

Sounds eminently sensible, more than can be said for that ejjit Hall.

The thing is that while I am enjoying the death of the Conservative Party what worries me is that the bit that is dying is the part that overlapped with the mainstream of politics. What will be left are the poisonous nutters who love culture wars and hate foreigners. I don't see that going away. I think it will get worse.

I mean to vote Conservative now you have to be happy with some extreme attitudes. Even if Labour come in the Conservatives will still carry on with their hatred. The Tory bit of my family gave up on them and are disgusted. They won't vote Reform as that is worse.

It does make me wonder what sort of person is hanging on at 23 per cent in the polls.

This seems a little tone deaf given we are also supplying the weapons. But never mind, at least there’s a whistle.

Sorry, it appears the Andrea Jenkyns defecting to Reform is fake news. I checked yesterday and again today and can’t see it being posted elsewhere.

It's only a matter of time (and possibly money)!

Zonder · 08/04/2024 17:49

It was very believable.

I fear that almost immediately the Tory supporting press will start ramping up the negative stories, manipulating the truth, stirring things up.
We all know that a Labour government will be massively curtailed regarding what it can do because of the financial state of the country yet if things don’t improve immediately there’ll be hell to play in the press. And a labour MP that utters anything remotely woke will be on the front page and loads of moral outrage that they’re going to enforce gender self ID or increase benefits for work-shy scroungers…I’m dreading it actually.
I live in a northern town that was badly let down by its long standing labour council. Not entirely self inflicted due to austerity but also a lot of complacency and a dose of dodgy dealings costing millions of pounds. A lot of people I know really dislike Labour (or Liebour as many call them) but having been let down by the Tories I fear will turn to Reform. Town is quite Brexity and very much red wall turned Tory in 2019.

prettybird · 08/04/2024 18:07

Maybe Reform’s recent cull of candidates who have any history of racism or Islamophobia has disqualified her Wink

NB: I have no idea if she does or doesn’t have such a history and have no desire to go back through her tweets Wink

Surely that would leave Reform without any candidates?

Or is it just a question of not having any history that anyone can point at?

Blimey. How many phone numbers did he give out? How the hell is this not a resigning matter?

Notonthestairs · 08/04/2024 21:24

Yeah, I am starting to wonder just how many phone numbers were handed over.

Hard to tell because he lost his phone and deleted all his watsaps.

RafaistheKingofClay · 08/04/2024 21:31

He may not be the only one who gave out numbers. There’s at least 2 other Tory MPs who compromised themselves. We have no idea whether they gave out any numbers if they were also blackmailed.

Notonthestairs · 08/04/2024 21:41

Fair point. Wonder quite how leaky HoC is.

Cheguevarahamster · 08/04/2024 21:44

Wragg had resigned from the 1922 committee.

DuncinToffee · 08/04/2024 21:46

Tory MP William Wragg has resigned as vice-chairman of the 1922 committee after admitting his involvement in the Westminster sexting scandal

He has also resigned as chairman of the constitutional affairs committee

Why he is just the victim of a very naughty scammer?

Did you know Keir had a beer and didn't resign.
