It's all just been normalised apparently

TooBigForMyBoots · 05/04/2024 19:44

Never before have I had to consider MPs' wangs and their detriment to our government. Even in my community's worst days under Thatcher, she would never have inflicted Willy Wragg's willy on us.

This is not a story about stupid men sending stupid Dick Pics. It's a cautionary tale about how Tory politicians will sell out the security of their colleagues and country to save themselves embarrassment.

There is no integrity or loyalty left in the Conservative Party.

countrygirl99 · 05/04/2024 19:48

@TooBigForMyBoots Thatcher famously said every PM should have a Willie. Clearly this lot have misunderstood what she meant.

Can you imagine the different reaction if wragg were female?

Honestly. What an idiot. Don't send strangers a picture of your dick online would be my advice. I think kids get taught that in schools these days. Maybe MPs need some remedial Internet safety education.

Typically in year 5 for the first time.

TheGreenManalishiWithTheTwoProngedCrown · 05/04/2024 20:02

Oh I see Jeremy Hunt is 'praising Wragg's apology' apparently

Hunt described Wragg's apology as "fulsome", which means excessive or insincere, especially in an offensive or distasteful way. The word's original meaning was disgusting or loathsome. So, while Hunt obviously intended to praise Wragg, his lack of understanding of the English language meant that he actually did the opposite.

bombastix · 05/04/2024 20:08

TheABC · 05/04/2024 18:21

@bombastix, I believe you. I've only got to look at mistakes made by Greens, SNPs and Lib Dems to know that unthinking, craven stupidity is more normal than we hope for. Labour's relative quiet on that front says more about party discipline than innate goodness.

History just tells you there will be equal idiots in the Labour Party. Wragg is not the first MP to have done something like this, though he may be the first to attempt to deal with it by spreading the problem around. The Labour Party haven't made much hay with this because I'm sure they know already there are similar fools (at least in the picture sending sense) on their benches.

TooBigForMyBoots · 05/04/2024 20:15

I totally judge him for his idiocy in sendinging Dick Pics, but it's his do it to Julia and* "here's the phone numbers" that renders him unfit to hold public office.

Too stupid, too selfish and too easily blackmailed to hold public office.

countrygirl99 · 05/04/2024 20:22

To me it's quite simple. If you wouldn't want your family and friends reading about it in the papers, don't do it. Funnily enough I've had a couple of unsolicited messages on WhatsApp this week and sending pictures of my genitals in response has not crossed my mind.

This is why you are not a Tory MP.
Not biddable enough, too free thinking.

@JessS1990 good point

Can't believe that William Wragg didn't instantly see this picture in his mind's eye. I mean if someone said what way might you be blackmailed wouldn't naked photos be no.1?

I assume its not his first rodeo so he's totally relaxed about sending pics to strangers 🤮

AdamRyan · 05/04/2024 23:46

fabio12 · 05/04/2024 18:41

Penis pictures have to be hard to police though - as in, how would anyone actually know it was his without asking him to show them as evidence? It's not as if they would be leaked publicly...so the damage isn't really scary for a lot of men if it is a body part. I mean I suppose they could mention if it was a micro-penis...but it doesn't do the damage it would for a woman I don't feel. Besides as I said I think they are trying to find out who else is in the stranglehold of Israel and Russia by offering the Get Out Of Jail Free card here to anyone else who has been "tricked" into behaving like a pervert.

I'm assuming it's not the only kompromat they had.
What an idiot.

Sorry but that is irrelevant whataboutery...

I don't expect any party leader to be so over this that these things never happen, its that Sunak is doing SFA about it, if Wragg wont resign, sunak should do it for him.

IF there are Labour MPs who have given into blackmail, rather than the origin Dick Pic stuff, then Starmer should deal with it robustly.

Zonder · 06/04/2024 13:04

Fixed that for them.

This doesn't sound like the Conservative Party we know

Fury as 'true-blue' Tories claim they have been 'banned' | Politics | News | Express.co.uk

Some Tory MPs have expressed despair that 'high-quality applicants' for the list of approved parliamentary candidates are reportedly being rejected because of their traditional Conservative values, while those who believe in high taxation and high public spending are put through, even if they lack the requisite skills to be an MP, reported The Telegraph.

Applicants who have spoken to The Telegraph describe those in charge of the selection process as “yellow Tories” whose preference is for candidates largely indistinguishable from Liberal Democrats.
Aman Bhogal, a former diplomat who contested the Upper Bann seat in Northern Ireland in 2015 but has not been selected since, said the Conservative Campaign Headquarters (CCHQ) was involved in a “stitch-up” by blocking Right-wingers from making it onto constituency shortlists

He said: “In the past, you were asked to talk about your Conservative values and your Conservative ideals, but that has all changed. Now it’s ‘tell us about how you have promoted diversity and how you have addressed white privilege’."

Love it. There's always reform...

Notonthestairs · 06/04/2024 14:21

That Express article is basically wealthy Brexiteers - Frost & Bannerman - who despise Sunak moaning that Sunak hasn't selected them.
Hilarious

I might be missing something, but why would anyone want to be a Conservative candidate at the next election. Unless you are in 1 of about 100 seats that they will win you will be a loser, and in most of those 100 seats there isn't a vacancy.
Are the potential candidates really that stupid?

IClaudine · 06/04/2024 14:54

Susan Hall is still lying on Twitter about Khan introducing a pay per mile scheme.

How is such outright lying allowed during an election campaign? At least there is no chance of her winning.
