Not great that the MP in the BBC article only found out because he read about the story.

Wragg is a member of the Tory Common Sense Group

"Or invisible government, quietly getting on with the job of making the country work."

This sounds very appealing.

Wow, that sounds amazing.

Wragg is a member of the Tory Common Sense Group

The Common Sense Group is another of John Hayes groups (Hayes is also 'president' of New Conservatives).

Factions within factions.

DuncinToffee · 04/04/2024 22:34

Not sure if it is a serious outlet but Conservative Post is claiming that Sunak's wife wants to move to California rather sooner than later.

RafaistheKingofClay · 04/04/2024 22:44

I think we decided last time that it was legit.

DuncinToffee · 04/04/2024 22:50

Thanks Rafa, I couldn't remember

Oh my, I've just seen 'the poster' (second most powerful country in the world one) I'd scrolled past it earlier on 'X' thinking it was a parody, but, it's real?! Oh my!

Also, I'd put money on Akshata being fairly busy setting up 'a new life in California' as we speak. Not long now Rishi love, hey?

Notonthestairs · 04/04/2024 23:00

In fairness it's quite difficult to counteract this sort of story - but I don't think I'd be surprised or necessarily blame her if she wasn't sick of it. We are.

I haven't been able to work out who funds Con Post aside from Lord Cruddas. Cruddas is also behind the "grassroots" Conservative Democratic Organisation that wants to hand the party back to members. Also involved in 'cash for access' 🙄
Johnson overruled the Lords Appointment Commission to appoint Cruddas as a peer.
So maybe he's still hankering after a Johnson comeback.

RafaistheKingofClay · 04/04/2024 23:04

I don’t know if it’s legit legit but I do remember it’s not supposed to be a parody.

It wouldn’t be the most surprising story if it was true. It’s widely assumed they’ll leave the country as soon as he goes isn’t it?

June election would be good if we can’t get May. Plenty of time to get the kids settled before the new school year.

Tory grassroots draws up fresh deselection hit list of MPs | Politics | News | Express.co.uk

Furious Conservative grassroots members have drawn up a new deselection hit list of Tory MPs who “aren’t being conservative”.
Conservative Post, which has replaced the Tory bible Conservative Home as the mouthpiece for the party’s membership, is issuing a fresh rallying cry to its readers.
The publication has identified ten Tory MPs it says the party membership wants to see the back of.

Fed-up Tory grassroots draw up fresh deselection hit list of MPs

Names on the new list include former Defence Select Committee chairman Tobias Ellwood and current Health Secretary Victoria Atkins.

I read that article, that's probably why I saw ConsPost on my twitter Confused

There are so many different names floating about, hard to keep up

RafaistheKingofClay · 04/04/2024 23:25

I think I’m still following them on Twitter from the last time they came up. They are very much in the 5 families area of the Tory Party and would be happy to see Rishi go and for there to be a leadership contest.

Think Braverman may be their preferred candidate.

Wragg went on a dating site, sent pictures of his dick to another man, who then used this to blackmail Wragg.... who then gave in and handed out phone numbers.

BBC and his Tory colleagues saying Wragg is a victim of "cyber crime"

FFS!!! Wragg is a victim of his own corrupt actions.

Anyone on here who did anything remotely similar would be out on their ear.

MPs ? nope, someone else's fault.

If you sent intimate images to a stranger and then they blackmailed you into releasing confidential client details you may have, I would think you would face repercussions at work.

Zonder · 05/04/2024 07:46

I was just looking at the new Tory poster again. I guess Sunak doesn't think we are anything to write home about on the graphic design/ marketing front since he gave the job to a Canadian company.

Actually maybe I have that wrong - the article is theirs - maybe the poster was done by Sunak's office intern.

bombastix · 05/04/2024 08:23

I don't know the dates and times of all this but I did remember Wragg doing an interview in the Guardian about why he was leaving Parliament around a year ago. Here it is.

amp.theguardian.com/politics/2023/jan/07/tory-mp-william-wragg-interview-backbencher

It was a thoughtful interview but quite clearly this incident was the real background. What a fool he has been.

I would use stronger language, he isn't a fool, he is a common criminal, he is an MP, subject to a far higher standard of scrutiny and behaviour than most people, Wragg thought he was good enough to rule over us or "serve" as he would put it.

As LBC's Nick Ferrari (hardly a Labour supporter) said yesterday, his actions tarnish many hard working MPs on all sides and bring all MPs into public contempt.

bombastix · 05/04/2024 08:48

I don't think Wragg is a criminal. He's an idiot. And one with a great sense of himself, but unless he actually passed sensitive information to this person, beyond telephone numbers, then he falls into the large category of sex addled MPs which has been there since the year Parliament began.

He'll also have known his seat was at risk, as his majority is sub 10k. But.... yeah. What a mess. What a tit.

So Mr Sunak should be a loving husband and call the general election now. Also better for their children to move schools at the end of the school year not start the autumn term and then move mid-year.

TokyoSushi · 05/04/2024 09:36

Well exactly, much better to start school in September, I bet that discussion has already been had!
