And Gillian Keegan is on Sky laughing at the idea that homeless people could be arrested because they smell before admitting the hasn't read the bill

The “overwhelming” question listeners wanted to ask was when the election will be.

BBC Radio Tees: “When is the general election?”

Rishi Sunak 'starts laughing'

BBC Radio Tees: “why are you laughing?”

Probably laughing because only HE knows what the British public want.

BIossomtoes · 02/04/2024 11:16

Was it hysterical laughter? What a time to be PM - the PM with shortest term in political history followed a PM leading their party to the biggest defeat in over 100 years, if the polls are to be believed. What a glorious time to be a Tory.

DuncinToffee · 02/04/2024 11:20

Just like a MN thread

Gillian Keegan: Labour have said they will not continue with free child care

Sally Nugent: That's not true

GK: They said they'd stop this policy

SN: They said they were going into consultation... we're here to talk about your policy..

She really shouldn’t be in charge of a fecking lucky bag let alone an education minister.

Keegan is a horrible woman, extremely wealthy, she just looks down on ordinary people and like many Tories, has no interest in improving conditions for the people of the UK, just for herself and people like her.

IClaudine · 02/04/2024 12:44

🤣🤣🤣

If she can dismiss valid concerns about the Criminal Justice Bill without reading it you can guarantee she'll also vote for it without reading it.

Pointless waste of space as a minister - but then they are all nothing more than place holders now. Just wasting our time, energy and money.

RafaistheKingofClay · 02/04/2024 13:11

Keegan’s the one that wants to be told what a fucking good job she’s doing isn’t she?

Yep, everyone else was sitting on their hands according to her (which reflects well on the rest of the party obviously).

New Electoral Calculus figures are looking great for the Tories, what with Reform fragmenting their voter base. https://www.electoralcalculus.co.uk/homepage.html

Tbh I don't like to see majorities that big. All parties have their nutters and massive majorities encourage silliness.

pointythings · 02/04/2024 14:19

@countrygirl99 I don't either, but the Tories have brought this upon themselves. I hope it will prompt them to return to a One Nation style of conservatism, or splinter that way.

And of course the polls will narrow - but I would still like witness the political annihilation of the Tories as they are now. It is the boot in the arse they need and deserve.

Piggywaspushed · 02/04/2024 14:22

I think it might stop Labour worrying so much actually and they might make braver decisions. They are so pussy footed at the moment.

countrygirl99 · 02/04/2024 14:27

Fingers crossed for a healthy majority with a Tory annihilation and a broad spectrum of parties opposition.
Planning to stock up on strong coffee to keep me awake and booking the next day off. I haven't stayed up all night for an election since 79 when youth got me through.

Oh you have to check in with a cat pic now? Righty ho! 😄

The plan is in there, deep under a sleeping cat and all the clean socks.

I'm also planning to stay up, last time I did that was 1997.

Maybe it will be the push towards a PR voting system.

I'm in Scotland. Post April 1st new legislation coming into force here I'm really mindful of what I post. I don't know how to vote. I can't vote Tory (obviously).
I can't vote SNP. My Ds (1st time voter) will vote Labour prob. Dd is too young.

I think it'll be the exact opposite, unfortunately.

I am planning an election night party. I've already got the bunting and balloons.

One an hour?

That isn't beyond the realms of possibility given how active and political we all are.
