How much do you drink during the day?

I'm constantly feeling tired /hungover on a morning and I think maybe I'm not drinking enough fluids.
Il have a cup of tea on a morning -and drink half
Then a 500ml bottle of water a day (sometimes don't even drink it all )
Could this be why I'm tired all the time ?

2-2.5 litres plus loads of tea and coffee

bakewellbride · 23/03/2024 13:25

Water that should've said

ForgettingMeNot · 23/03/2024 13:26

I probably drink around 2litres through the day

Surprised your kidneys are ok with so little liquid

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 23/03/2024 13:26

Probably 3 litres, but I'm obese so need more than average.

I think not drinking enough would make you thirsty rather than tired.

Hoglet70 · 23/03/2024 13:29

I can't even count how much I drink. Erm... 4 big mugs of coffee in the mornings (OK, not that hydrating) then about 5 or 6 pints of water through the day when I'm working and then cups of tea and more pints of squash in the evening. I hate not having a drink to hand.

helpfulperson · 23/03/2024 13:29

about 5 cups of coffee. I think this obsession with drinking litres of water is strange and unnecessary.

MonkeyPuddle · 23/03/2024 13:29

Your wee must be the colour of Lucozade!

lifebeginsaftercoffee · 23/03/2024 13:29

About 2 litres of fluid but very little plain water.

TheShellBeach · 23/03/2024 13:31

A litre of plain water and two litres of tea.

LightSwerve · 23/03/2024 13:31

Your consumption is less than half the recommended amount, you need 2 litres per day.

Start today, at least it is an easy fix.

FunnysInLaJardin · 23/03/2024 13:33

2 cups of coffee a day and around 3 litres of water, plus 2 glasses of wine with dinner

PotatoPudding · 23/03/2024 13:33

4-8 cups of tea or coffee (decaf). 1 or two cans of pop. In the warmer weather, it will only be 2-4 hot drinks and a couple of litres or water or squash.

HollyKnight · 23/03/2024 13:35

I drink a LOT. Around 5.5 - 6 litres a day. It feels like it should be too much, but my kidneys are fine so far. My skin looks amazing. 😅

YourWinter · 23/03/2024 13:37

Probably three mugs of coffee, before 1100, a couple of mugs of tea in the afternoon, a chamomile tea after supper. One small glass of apple juice, and one large glass of tap water to sip through the day. I will drink more water if it’s sparkling, it makes me much more thirsty, but I really dislike buying any bottled water.

TheFormidableMrsC · 23/03/2024 13:37

I drink two litres of water a day plus a couple of cups of coffee and maybe 3 teas. I have herbal tea in the evening.

MonsteraMama · 23/03/2024 13:39

Cup of tea in the morning, two litres of water through the day in work, then a few more glasses of water or squash in the evening. More if it's a gym day.

Only 500ml a day would leave me feeling awful and sluggish. Your body needs a lot more water than that!

LancashireSquirrel · 23/03/2024 13:40

About 4 cups of tea a day. Any more than that and I'm peeing 50 times a day. Lots of fluid in my food, porridge, fruit/veg etc.

curtainsformee · 23/03/2024 13:41

Oh wow I need to up my intake
I'm just never really thirsty so I forget to drink

Americandreamz · 23/03/2024 13:43

I drink nothing really. I’m so bad. I have a coffee in the morning and that’s all.
I can’t even force myself to drink more.
Very rarely I reach for a drink..

Undethetree · 23/03/2024 13:45

Last year I felt like you are describing.

I upped my fluids to 2 litres water a day plus approx 3 cups of tea. I felt a bit better literally the next day.

Also, maybe not what you want to hear but....I also increased the amount of protein I eat, cut down on processed food a bit and started exercising 2-3 times a week. It sounds like a lot but it didn't feel like a huge change tbh.

I felt much better within a few days and haven't looked back.

DatingDinosaur · 23/03/2024 13:46

Bloody hell @curtainsformee . Yes, that's absolutely the reason you're feeling tired/hungover in a morning. Your brain is dehydrated.

Please try to drink a little more water, even if you don't feel thirsty. I think the recommended amount is around 2 litres a day - about 8 glasses of water.

Undethetree · 23/03/2024 13:47

I remember to get 2L by having a pint of water as soon as I wake up, 500ml bottle at work, a pint when I get home and another with dinner (as a minimum).

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 23/03/2024 13:55

I don't drink nearly as much water as I should. I probably drink less than 1 litre a day. I easily drink 2-3 litres of tea though.

I try, I really do, but other than when I'm exercising, I have no desire for water. Any tips gratefully received.

xxxJess123xxx · 23/03/2024 13:56

I literally never feel thirst, ever.
I have a can of red bull in the morning and a couple of cans of Pepsi max a day. I can’t even remember the last time I had squash/water. I drink the above for the taste 🤷‍♀️

littleroundcircles · 23/03/2024 14:07

About a litre of water a day but I read that if your wee is a nice pale colour, you're decently hydrated. It is so I assume I am.
