The Mona Lisa
(The Louvre is incredible)
Paris Disney
Alton Towers (although accept that as I live half an hour away and did it every summer for years thanks to school, I may just be utterly sick of the place)
Costco
Wagamamas
Waitrose

But for the person who said the opera house - I live in Sydney and I see it bringing tears to people's eyes daily, it's absolutely bloody magnificent.

Nandos, had a meal there a few days ago, it was bloody vile, had a chicken burger, cole slaw and a coke. Nearly £20, the chicken was dry and tasteless and set off with a half a lettuce leaf and a sliver of tomato and the cole slaw was vinegary and very very reminiscent of Asda's budget range. Utter waste of money and I will never go there again

ditto all chain restaurants

appalling food, all from Brakes Bros - all they do is open packets and boxes, put it in the microwave, add lettuce and laced with garlic granules to mask the taste. Zero skill in that and it tastes of what it is, Ultra Processed Food

Dreadful what has happened to UK restaurants nowadays. and very very expensive.

Definitely the Maldives (sadly).
I was gifted a last minute holiday there last year and was very disappointed - we were bored after two days and very relieved that we hadn't saved and planned to go for years like some people do.
I'm well travelled and the Maldives was a place I thought would be be amazing but we found it very underwhelming and mediocre.

Tea - it's minging and people are obsessed. Have a glass of water.

Also carrying bottles of water, it's not the Sahara.

Neveralonewithaclone · 21/03/2024 03:42

Laminate flooring 😱

Well.. this is a bit awkward as tea is simply just infused water

Harry Potter
Lord of the Rings
Gogglebox
Love Island
Avocado
Olives

I had a friend, an elderly gentleman in his 80s, who had several olive trees in his yard.
Every year he’d climb his ladder and pick them and then start the lye and salt baths - it took several weeks.
Those olives were the best things I’ve ever tasted.
Thank you for reminding me of that and of my sweet friend.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 21/03/2024 04:17

Kimchi
Kombucha
Sriracha
Kewpie mayo

As a Canadian I get to see the Northern Lights regularly and they are definitely green, not grey.

Continuing with my list - Tim Hortons

peacocksuite · 21/03/2024 04:36

"pulled" meat is marketing genius - basically heavily flavour cheap cuts of meat and sell it at a huge premium.

For me -
Cocktails
Craft beer
Growing your own food (then photographing and putting on social media)
Baking
Nadia Hussain (might be related to the previous point)
Any gourmet burger chain
Smoothies / juice bars
Celebs like Rylan. Anyone on This Morning.
Making memories
Living your best life
The gym

I mean it’s no more niche than all the other things in this thread!

I remember not being allowed a pen in primary school because my handwriting wasn’t joined up. I felt really stupid.

Now I work in primary schools and still think it’s fucking stupid that they’re still bloody banging on about it. Poor kids.

That’s shocking about not being allowed a pen. Had no idea. Shades of having your left hand tied to you to force you into right handed ness. Very Victorian..

Dyson hair dryer.
Ed Sheeran and all the Poundland Ed Sheerans (James Arthur and the like)

One thing that is worth the money is Dr Martens shoes and boots. Quality is still great and they last forever.

Because they don't have to cook maybe?

Alwaysdieting · 21/03/2024 05:47

Also Ryan Gosling singing at the Oscars so rubbish, and stars on talk shows like Graham Norton, so up themselves and so scripted.

Itsallfunngamesuntil · 21/03/2024 05:49

Plastic tampon applicators

They nip me, get too slippery to actually push.......total design fail.
