Anyone else ill right now, not covid but feels the same?

I'm feeling unwell with a cough, sore throat, congestion, body aches and headaches. Plus I'm shattered and dozy. This is exactly how I felt with covid but the tests are negative.

I know a few people who've been ill and I'm aware of posts here or on social media where people talk about this dragging on for weeks!! I'm just 4 days in but have absolutely no improvement if anything I'm slightly worse.

Just wondering if anyone else wants to share in my misery and has similar. I'm also wondering if covid tests are still accurate and keep up with new strains?

Yes, I have this! It's horrendous. I've been told I now have a chest infection and I'm on an inhaler and antibiotics.

I can't eat or sleep at all, I'm pregnant so it's not the best. I've tried paracetamol, strepsils, throat spray, cough syrup, vapour rub and even bought a humidifier, nothing helps at all.

Hope you feel better soon! I too have read all the stories about it lasting weeks/months 🙁

Foodaddict1 · 17/03/2024 20:19

Me. Aches and chills last sunday with excruciating sore throat. Thought I was better by Monday then congested sinuses on tuesday, Wednesday lost my voice plus stinking headache, Thursday same plus tight chest and chesty cough, Friday thought I was getting better and Saturday rough and exhausted. Today I'm finally better with a shift in energy. Convinced I've had Covid (didn't test) as I never ever get chesty.

Foodaddict1 · 17/03/2024 20:20

Yes forgot to add the loss of appetite and buzzy feeling in feet. Weird virus whatever it is.

I've just had this, its definitely doing the rounds!
However 2 weeks after shaking the cough, blocked nose, headache and aches (and knackered), i now cant hear!
My ears are totally blocked and im trying everything to no avail, really disorientating Sad

Shogunspretzel · 17/03/2024 20:23

Mine started when I woke up on Thursday with chest aches which I feel is unusual for me. You have my sympathy all! Also yes one of my ears hurts a bit and I randomly have indigestion!

OP posts:
Plonkydonkey · 17/03/2024 20:27

Yes, oh boy yes. Lost voice, sore throat, exhausted, like a deep exhaustion. Was unable to move except go to the loo. Also had very very vivid fever dreams. My chest hurts, my head is wooly.

I have been convinced its covid but testing negative.

NC03 · 17/03/2024 20:28

My dad is like this but no cough
Said his temp is 102 and he feels rough

Shogunspretzel · 17/03/2024 20:29

I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself too as I had a slight lul in work. So was going to do loads of stuff. But now I'm feeling awful. I absolutely know it could be worse!

OP posts:
Foodaddict1 · 17/03/2024 20:29

Sorry OP that you are feeling rough. Mine seemed to subside in one week. Although I was excited I'd regained my energy today, took the dog for a walk and was planning to walk longer than usual but it was DH's turn to feel rough so we only walked 45 min.
Came back from the walk and flopped on my bed. Absolutely shattered. I hope it's not a lingering one, where you think you're better but you really ain't.

WickWood · 17/03/2024 20:46

Is anyone else being sick with it? I don't know whether it's the coughing, the infection or the fact I'm pregnant. Can't keep any food down at all.

Shogunspretzel · 17/03/2024 20:55

I haven't been sick @WickWood feel like the only area it's not affecting! It must be especially grim for you having this and being pregnant!

I do have awful indigestion though.

So much of this going round and I thought I'd avoided it. My nephew went weeks where he was throwing high temperatures. Sore throat, cough. In the end became and ear infection. My sister got it as well.

My colleague has a chest infection, her son has tonsillitis, another colleague has an ear infection. My next door neighbours daughter has tonsillitis. I've been coming down with something all week. Started as a chesty cough. Then turned into a bad head cold, high temperature and chesty cough. Not sure what it is but it's definitely not the norm.

Jellykat · 17/03/2024 20:56

I wasnt sick, but had bad stomach cramps

Cheepcheepcheep · 17/03/2024 20:58

I’m about 3 weeks into a combination of sore throat, swollen lymph nodes, ear ache and an eye infection. I do have an antimmune condition so inflammation isn’t unusual for me but it’s unheard of that I get slammed on all fronts at the same time, and this has come with a terrible nighttime cough too. Something awful doing the rounds for sure.

HereIfYouNeedMe · 17/03/2024 21:05

Me! I'm on day 5 of it. My poor DC had it and it brought on an ear infection. I've never felt so ill, dizzy, nauseous and throwing up, but the worst is the excruciating sore throat! I've been given antibiotics but sounds viral. Also had to take rennies! My bedroom is like a pharmacy, had to take sick leave from both of the jobs I do and haven't left the bed until today 😣😣😣 what a horrible virus!!!!

Fluffyhoglets · 17/03/2024 22:11

I've had it. Coming up two weeks and I'm feeling like it's turning into a post viral chest infection so I'll be battling for antibiotics tomorrow.

I ached for 4 days - it was just like covid.

BelleStar2023 · 17/03/2024 22:19

I just posted on the other thread about this. I’ve had it for 12 weeks so far 😬 It started with an eye infection before Christmas, and then I got a cough and awful fatigue, then later aches, chills, sweats etc. Symptoms seem to get better, then worse randomly.

I’ve had two weeks of antibiotics, three of nasal steroids, then oral steroids. Nothing helps. However, the last week or so, the only symptoms have been a cough and fatigue. And these are improving (slowly). I have no idea why this is lingering so long, I’m in my 30s and normally shake illnesses relatively quickly.

I hope everyone here recovers sooner than me (especially @WickWood … I can’t imagine how hard this is during pregnancy).

ViciousCurrentBun · 17/03/2024 23:22

I’m on week 3, I’m starting to perk up a little but still have a cough and am very tired.

WhycantIkeepthisbloodyplantalive · 18/03/2024 00:17

Urghh, I've also got it. Started last Tuesday with the most horrific sore throat, fatigue and aching bones. I then developed a cold and cough on Friday morning, the cough is the worst I've ever had. I wasn't able to sleep properly for around 5 days because of sore throat then cough, I finally fell asleep on the sofa last night and haven't moved since (apart from going to the loo).Started to wonder if I needed antivirals because I've been unwell 6 days and each day I am just becoming more and more unwell.

I think the relentless cough has now turned into a chest infection so am I going to try and get antibiotics over the phone tomorrow, I just can't get myself up and about to even go for an appointment.

.. Obviously feeling very sorry for myself too!

Shogunspretzel · 18/03/2024 08:47

I didn't realise there was another thread sorry! I'm feeling possibly worse this morning. My glands are more swollen body and my body is more achey. On top of everything else.

I'm stressing out as I have quite a big event for work later in the week too. Normally with a cold type thing I'd be really confident I'd be on the mend. But I feel 5 days in and getting worse not better is not a great sign to be on the road to recovery by then!

How's everyone else doing this morning?

OP posts:
Lovemybunnies · 18/03/2024 08:51

I’ve tested positive for 6 days now but my husband had the same symptoms and tested negative. He can’t quite get over it though and is usually very fit and well.

Cloud44 · 18/03/2024 08:56

I think I’ve got the start of this, it came on in the night, didn’t sleep great , just feel bleugh this morning! I really hope it doesn’t go on for weeks. Is everyone else managing to carry on with work?

SaveMyArchitrave · 18/03/2024 09:00

This seems to be an ongoing new issue:

To ask if anyone has this awful virus at the moment? http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/amiibeingunreasonable/4987803-to-ask-if-anyone-has-this-awful-virus-at-the-moment

Has anyone had any kind of diagnosis?

Cloud44 · 18/03/2024 09:25

Does anyone think it may have started as tonsilitis with how the throat has felt? I’m guessing the standard honey and lemon doesn’t really help? Really haven’t got time to be poorly!

BelleStar2023 · 18/03/2024 09:25

This is another thread on it:

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/_chat/5027336-what-fucking-fresh-hell-is-this

Some posters are saying antihistamines are helping them. I have taken one this morning to see if it helps, but it’s just one I have at home, not the specific type mentioned by a couple of posters (which I can’t even remember now).

What fucking fresh hell is this? | Mumsnet

I came down with a headcold 4 weeks ago. By March the 29th it was much more than a headcold but not a flu either. It felt more like a sinus infection...
