If you DIDN'T cook from scratch what did you have for dinner?

Feeling tired of seeing all the amazing meals cooked every day on mumsnet. I often cook from scratch but I've been so stressed and run down this week.

If you've been taking short cuts / been lazy cooking for whatever reason come and tell me what you did

Last night we had fish fingers, chips and beans and today Ikea meatballs, frozen mixed veg, mashed potatoes (made a batch a while ago and froze) and a jug of bisto

A bit short on greenery so I suppose I'd better just feed them broccoli and sprouts with a good splodge of cabbage tomorrow Grin

I had caramel snack a Jack's with dairylea cheese spread on them.
No regrets.

Pasta, frozen garlic, frozen basil, ground almonds cherry tomatoes. No prep just chucked it in the cooked pasta
homemade pasta and pesto in 15 minutes.
frozen prepared herbs and veg are brilliant

Nachos. My version. Doritos salsa dip and sour crème dip dolloped on tortilla chips with melted cheese on top. Yum.

don’t care, it was a quick tea

Twatneighbours · 16/03/2024 20:29

Cheese and onion toasties with some deli style coleslaw delish 🤤

Moltenpink · 16/03/2024 20:29

Fajita meal kit with chicken. One of the few meals the family all like

HeddaGarbled · 16/03/2024 20:29

Tesco ham and mushroom tagliatelle with a salad I made all by myself by washing a lettuce and slicing some cucumber and tomato.

soundsys · 16/03/2024 20:29

Bread and cheese. And wine!

WibblyWobblyWeeble · 16/03/2024 20:29

SiobahnRoy · 16/03/2024 20:30

Crosta and mollica pizza with salad 😋

UseItOrloseItt · 16/03/2024 20:31

We had tinned meatballs in tomato sauce, spaghetti and frozen peas and sweetcorn.

All out of a tin or packet and into saucepans, 9 minutes to boil/warm, serve.

We eat very little tinned food in general but I am a HUGE fan of a tinned meatball. As are the dc 😱

HelpMeOutOfHere · 16/03/2024 20:31

We had pizza with bases that are dough that you roll out. Everyone did their own toppings. I had mozzarella, Serrano ham, garlicky mushrooms and olives.

Lifebeganat50 · 16/03/2024 20:32

I had chips and mayonnaise. It’s Saturday night 😂

fluffycatkins · 16/03/2024 20:32

Bagels, smoked salmon and cream cheese.

WhoaJayShettybambalam · 16/03/2024 20:33

Cheese and crackers. I’m home alone and feel poorly!

Brandnewskytohangyourstarsupon · 16/03/2024 20:33

Slimming world microwaveable vegetable lasagna. It was 🤮 absolutely dire.
Do not recommend. Disgusting.

Pandaandpurple · 16/03/2024 20:33

In the absence of my Sainsbury’s delivery we had random delights from the cupboards and fridge - some onion rings, grilled halloumi, crisps and dip and coleslaw.

Decafflatteplease · 16/03/2024 20:34

.m and s Indian ready meals here 🙂

MonsteraMama · 16/03/2024 20:34

Two packs of frozen garlic and herb prawns from Aldi chucked in a wok with some frozen broccoli and straight to wok noodles. Takes about ten minutes of standing in the kitchen staring at the wok so I don't really count it as cooking 😂

wildthingsinthenight · 16/03/2024 20:34

Lidl pizzas.. bag of salad.. coleslaw

bluecomputerscreen · 16/03/2024 20:34

  • ready cooked noodles
  • pre chopped veg
  • pre diced fake chicken
  • sauce from a bottle

busy day with lots of activities. can't be arsed to cook anything that takes longer than 20 min fridge to table.

EmilyPlay · 16/03/2024 20:34

Dominos.

MuggedByReality · 16/03/2024 20:35

Busy day today, so no time to cook. We had a M&S dine in meal deal; ‘Best ever’ lasagne with a green salad (not in the deal), profiteroles & a bottle of Rioja. It was delicious.

Proper roast tomorrow.

WhereIsMyLight · 16/03/2024 20:35

Goulash, cheesy mash and broccoli. Goulash was prepped by the butchers just added some stock and sour cream, frozen mash and broccoli.

tortiecat · 16/03/2024 20:35

We just got back from holiday, couldn't face cooking. A rotisserie chicken, spinach and ricotta ravioli, garlic bread, bagged salad, corn on the cob and cucumber sticks. Oh - and Krispy Kremes. Thank you Asda!
