If you DIDN'T cook from scratch what did you have for dinner?

Feeling tired of seeing all the amazing meals cooked every day on mumsnet. I often cook from scratch but I've been so stressed and run down this week.

If you've been taking short cuts / been lazy cooking for whatever reason come and tell me what you did

Last night we had fish fingers, chips and beans and today Ikea meatballs, frozen mixed veg, mashed potatoes (made a batch a while ago and froze) and a jug of bisto

A bit short on greenery so I suppose I'd better just feed them broccoli and sprouts with a good splodge of cabbage tomorrow Grin

Barbecue pulled pork in a brioche bun with coleslaw and sliced avocado.

AyeupDuck · 16/03/2024 22:49

I had fishcakes from the chiller section they had a cheddar cheese middle, some frozen peas and green beans with a small side salad of fresh spinach and a chopped up tomato.

Daughter had hot dog, chips and a side of mini pie. We had 'savers' steaks and chips. Husband had a mini scotch pie starter watching the rugby.

Bread and cheese. And wine!

Nothing better than a good chunk of aged Parmesan and red wine.

SkaneTos · 16/03/2024 22:57

Ramen noodles.
Store-bought marzipan candy for dessert.

NeverBe · 16/03/2024 22:58

We had a Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference lasagne with salad and peas. No point making a whole lasagne for me and one dc.

everythinglooksbetterpaintedblack · 16/03/2024 22:59

Pizza express pizza from Tesco

Ooh that sounds nice! Reading this thread is making me hungry again!

I had 1/2 pizza and some chocolate. No regrets. Enjoyed the evening by myself.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 16/03/2024 23:36

Brie and French bread and a bar of Lindt with hazelnuts

baileybrosbuildingandloan · 16/03/2024 23:58

Went out for tapas! 😂

Careeradviceplease1234 · 17/03/2024 00:00

Shop bought steak mince pie and oven chips tonight. Pizza made with pre rolled pizza base and home made chips last night.

OooScotland · 17/03/2024 00:01

Two apples, a packet of crisps and a tin of rice pudding. No family here tonight, I can do what I want, which is not cook.

RagzRebooted · 17/03/2024 00:03

Dominos. I worked this morning then had a migraine and went to bed, DH did a 70+ hour week and slept most of the day.
No regrets.
Played monopoly with the teens after.

dinosaurs4u · 17/03/2024 00:03

Tea, toast and a bag of ready salted crisps 😂

Child free tonight so could not be bothered

S72 · 17/03/2024 00:03

One of those M&S indian meal deal things. Cheaper than a takeaway and tasted pretty good.

longtompot · 17/03/2024 00:03

If I didn't make a loaf of bread (only because the one that came in our delivery last time I made it was awful) and dairy free tzatziki for my dd, then our easy dinner was a simple roast chicken, hummus, crusty bread and tzatziki.

NC03 · 17/03/2024 00:03

Does a salad type bowl count?

Aldi parmentier potatoes (it's late, I can't spell but highly recommend)
Aldi southern fried chicken goujons
Feta, gherkins, cherry tomatoes, red onion
All in a bowl with Wagamama house dressing

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 17/03/2024 00:04

Roasted veg pasta bake from M&S. My husband was out, so my daughter and I ate it straight from the packet, with forks, and felt like savages. We had lovely flatbread garlic bread with it and handfuls of lettuce, straught from a bag. We had homemade cake for pudding.

Rolypolyfishheads · 17/03/2024 00:06

A cheese and onion pasty with macaroni cheese and potato waffles 😁

HangingOver · 17/03/2024 00:15

I'm not sure why some people are coming onto the thread to talk about what they cooked from scratch but hey, why not!

Stealth brag that you hopefully won't notice if they use words like chucked or slung. Not cooking from scratch in my house is supernoodles on square white bread.

coxesorangepippin · 17/03/2024 00:16

I had a cheeseburger, kids had poutines

We ate out

BronwenTheBrave · 17/03/2024 00:22

Burnt toast and a large kitkat. And gin.

Elephantswillnever · 17/03/2024 00:24

I had chicken goujons (nice ones) three apples and a cupcake

BertieBotts · 17/03/2024 00:29

Frozen fish and chips cooked in air fryer. Usually add some frozen peas but was too knackered. DC had similar beige turkey Dino/fish fingers and chips in air fryer plus some carrots. They didn't eat most of it and filled up on cereal. 🤷
