Good news 👏

tobee · 20/03/2024 17:25

So is this Sunak v the 1922 committee happening or what?

Notonthestairs · 20/03/2024 17:29

Yes. They were banging the desks for him earlier. I was going to say like school children but I doubt schools accept that kind of nonsense.

Government LOSES first Rwanda Bill amendment vote of the day in the House of Lords by 271 votes to 228.

The amendment, in the name of Labour's Lord Coaker, would require the Bill to have regard to domestic and international law.

Ouch

So no sign of anything significant?

Notonthestairs · 20/03/2024 17:33

No. I'm sure they'll come out and claim that they are all very excited about The Plan etc.

Then someone will leak what actually happened.

tobee · 20/03/2024 17:46

Ooh leaks! They're always fun!

IClaudine · 20/03/2024 17:46

Are they trolling us? Or trolling Sunak?

Apparently the louder the banging, the more trouble they’re in...

That is bad

Very bad

Very bad. Forget all the NHS staff who were battling for us four years ago. Remember that twit instead.

Weren't the Tories coerced into furlough, anyway? I am sure the opposition parties put pressure on.

I am sure that if it had been Corbyn, then it would have been criticised.

14 million jobs - that is almost the entire workforce?

I am sure some people were not furloughed.

Cornettoninja · 20/03/2024 17:58

I am sure some people were not furloughed

yup. A boatload (see what I did there) of self employed iirc

Both, probably!

JessS1990 · 20/03/2024 17:02

Bit harsh on fucks even smarmy ones comparing them to Sunak.

I will not apologise. They should be more careful about who they hang with 😛

pointythings · 20/03/2024 18:00

Well, as an NHS worker (not frontline) I was absolutely not furloughed. Just working 10 hour days. But hey, who cares?

I was not. I worked all the way through

Cornettoninja · 20/03/2024 18:04

Me too @pointythings, neither was DP in manufacturing.

Furlough means diddly in this house. I’m glad we had it and don’t regret it but that’s as far as it goes.

Is The Plan a new weekday afternoon quiz show?

If so I am excited too.

Reason enough to have cheese and wine and party if you ask me.

dontcallmelen · 20/03/2024 18:22

No one in my house furloughed & didn’t know anyone who was.

L1ttledrummergirl · 20/03/2024 18:30

I wasn't furloughed, my work (and fledgling business) just stopped. I had no support and it's taking us years to recover.

Sunak can fuck off with his furlough bollocks.

DuncinToffee · 20/03/2024 18:34

Government loses second Rwanda Bill vote in the Lords, this time on the safety of the country, by 285-230.
