So it's a safe place as long as you don't oppose the Government?

I suppose this is a new definition of safe - a very specific one. Russia could be described as safe if you don't oppose the Government.

Yeah and all the asylum seekers need to say is they oppose the government!

I now wonder if they get sent there they can come back and claim asylum here as fleeing Rwanda because they oppose the government.

Rabbit hole 🕳👀

This, one giant merry-go-round.
I am now at the point of having no coherent sentences left & just wish the fuckitty fuckwits would fuck off & then fuck off a bit more & end up on the planet of fucks into complete fucking oblivion, I’m so done with this nonsense.

That is pretty much how I feel!

IClaudine · 19/03/2024 20:38

People on social media are still going on about Truss's bill, which was never going to make it into law. It is just one bog* deflection. I bet Sunak shoehorns it into PMQs tomorrow.

*Typo, but seems apt, because that is where Tory party politics are in right now.

bombastix · 19/03/2024 20:41

I don't think this bill will make any difference. It's clear that most voters are not listening to the Conservative Party any more. I do not think they will find a narrative to change that either.

Just about sums it up Angry

Sunak: one giant merry-go-round for next thread title?

Or Sunak: will the fuckitty fuckwits please fuck off. But MN would probably not like that.

Sunak is trying to appeal to football fans with the Football Governance Bill, sending out very cringey tweets and one that got community noted as it claimed

Rishi confirms signing of new laws that put fans first and clean up our Beautiful game

Note read
(The Football Governance Bill has been introduced in parliament where it will be debated and become law if passed. The Prime Minister has not signed this in to law.

Additionally, In the UK the PM cannot sign a law in to affect. This function is reserved for the Monarch.)

PMQs today.

Will Dianne Abbot get to speak?

This is damning from the National Audit Office.

Housing migrants on the Bibby Stockholm and on RAF bases will cost £46 million more than using hotels.

Terrible for one of govt’s flagship policies.

But hotels are luxury and the Bibby Stockholm is not, and that is what is important.

Also it was time to give a bung to a different of our donors.

Short but illuminating thread from Lizzie Dearden -

The Home Office massively heightened financial and legal risks with Wethersfield and Scampton by not consulting local councils before announcing the scheme, and being duly sued

Officials were directed by ministers not to and Suella Braverman used an "emergency" planning bypass

x.com/lizziedearden/status/1770372847665369584?s=46&t=Uw4lJNwxFZFnX0Xs3doHYg

Desperation to get the scheme up and running and more importantly into the media meant they increased risk & costs. They didn't even wait to check the BiBi Stockholm was free from legionnaires.

They seem to have a habit of writing blank cheques again whenever immigration is involved - not so much for public services.

BIossomtoes · 20/03/2024 09:44

At least all this wasted money counters to an extent the argument that Labour can’t improve public services because there’s no money. Obviously there’s plenty available to be reallocated.

Inflation is down so we can expect a lot of 'the plan is working' in the hope people don't understand that prices will still rise.

It ain't going to work, because its the pound in people's pocket that matters and there still won't be many of them.

BBC

The Taoiseach (Irish prime minister) Leo Varadkar has said he will step down before the next general election in the Republic of Ireland.
He will also step down as party leader.

I can’t stomach hearing that weasel bang on about ‘Labour blocking’ their bills. Ffs that man and his Weasley mates are blocking the country from being governed! Everything feels like it’s on hold waiting for the GE, junior doctors have announced their striking again… bet they wouldn’t be if a general election had been called by that smarmy fuck.Angry

Government LOSES first Rwanda Bill amendment vote of the day in the House of Lords by 271 votes to 228.

The amendment, in the name of Labour's Lord Coaker, would require the Bill to have regard to domestic and international law.
