This’ll be interesting.

Can you imagine the orgasmic oohing and ahhing on the FWR board if KB did become PM
And then it rapidly disappears when she doesn’t deliver…..
Anyone also notice that certain posters are only around at certain times, strange that 🤔

My first job was 6 weeks working in a well known holiday park as a cleaner for £125 a week. When we left, the careers office planned to send my friend back there, to do the same job for £25 a week on yts.

To be fair, my dh did the scheme and was offered a job after as a general builder/bricklayer.

This scheme sounds as though taxpayers are subsidising employers though. What are the odds people will be kept on when the employer has invested £0 in them and the next free chump is ready?

So it is now not sufficient for the government to subsidise employee wages through in work benefits, but now they are going to pay the whole salary.

I must say the very rich who own these businesses are very good at ensuring they don't have to contribute to society.

Notonthestairs · 18/03/2024 17:39

There seems to be an awful lot of people waiting in the long grass for Sunak - Jenrick, Braverman, Badenoch, Mordaunt, Shapps. I'm pretty sure Cleverly wants another chance at a leadership campaign too. Truss might not be able to launch another campaign but she'd definitely get behind anyone promising her a cabinet role. Then there is the MP's like Jenkyns that are just desperate to bring him down at all costs.

No wonder they don't get much done.

Saucery · 18/03/2024 17:41

Thing is, the majority of the gender critical feminists who would like to see KB become PM still believe the guff the Tories spout about gender issues. It’s tempting to go along with someone who has achieved a cabinet position as a Black woman who isn’t afraid to state biological reality (not interested in sparking a debate about what is biological reality as I know there are posters on here who disagree with GC feminism and that’s ok). But the fact she has hand waved racism and violent threat to an opposition politician who is also a Black woman, one who paved the way for KB herself to become a high ranking politician should tell those GC feminists exactly what KB holds dear…..the advancement of KB.
I can’t bring myself to snark at women who want the TRA madness to stop, because I am one myself. I just don’t think the Tories are the ones to make that happen, because they could have done a lot to help over the past 10 years and they haven’t. It’s not Racism if they give your party millions and if you’re GC you run the risk of Gove’s “Prevent means whatever I want it to mean” bollocks turning its beady, intolerant eye on you.

After today's polls from Deltapoll and Redfield & Wilton, the Conservative Party is now polling LOWER than at any point under Lizz Truss' Premiership, at just 22.9%.

Bloody hell. Apparently Sunak said today that he’s not interested in Westminster politics. 😱

Don't worry Rishi, the country isn't interested in you being in politics either.

BIossomtoes · 18/03/2024 17:52

So, is the smart money on him calling an election if they try to force him out? Because it’s looking as if it’s on the cards now.

Honestly, that speech started a death spiral. Why did he do it? It was bad enough beforehand but the repetitive racism just rings so hollow now we've heard it all in 2016. Rishi was bought in to calm the waters and reunite the country, he is not the face they need to ensure all interviews focus on race rather than their sham economics.
Bet Truss is doing some sort of jig somewhere.

bombastix · 18/03/2024 18:00

This is all driven by the Reform vote which is surging.

Could be vote of no confidence then an election. Looks very bloody got Sunak

Really, we’d never have guessed. He’s been so proactive and on the ball so far.

I do love that Liz Truss has become the measure for how bad things are. I think the nation needs to make her the standard unit of measure for popularity.

I take it Sunak's relaunch this morning when as well as the previous 94 have done?

Not To burst any hope you have but the other day I saw someone say that the politically smart thing to do would be to call the election now because it’s only going to get worse for the Tories from here. And therefore Rishi won’t because he has absolutely no political instincts at all.
I’m a bit worried that might be the most sensible and reasonable thing I’ve read on the issue of election timing. I’d like to think he’d call it now but deep down I suspect this is the reality.

BIossomtoes · 18/03/2024 18:11

Goodness, apparently Barack Obama has just arrived at No 10 for an “informal meeting”. 😯

pointythings · 18/03/2024 18:12

So how many Rishis = 1 Truss? And is a Truss bigger or smaller than a Johnson? Also how many Mays in a Rishi?

What on earth can he be discussing? Sunak is going down in history as a failure

BIossomtoes · 18/03/2024 18:37

No idea, intriguing isn’t it? It was so nice to see his lovely smiling face again. A reminder of what a decent politician looks like.

bombastix · 18/03/2024 18:38

I think it is not a compliment. I wonder what Obama thinks about Conservative Party donors

I just totally fail to begin to understand Sunak. His motivations etc. Strange man. Can't get a read on him

Also, not sure if I can be bothered to really.

RafaistheKingofClay · 18/03/2024 18:46

Jesus Christ this road is atrocious. There’s at least a half mile section that may be more pot hole than road. It seems to be getting worse by the day. I seem to remember Rishi declaring a war on potholes. I’m pretty sure the pot holes are winning. Wouldn’t be surprised if they beat the bus soon too.

fabio12 · 18/03/2024 18:53

Maybe Obama is here to talk to him about racism and how to get around the ERG - it's probably clear to the world Rishi is in over his head and needs some strategy. Or do we think Rishi's Westmister quip was a hint he is going across the pond? I doubt they'd have him but he did go to College there, did he not?
