Whereas unions who make donations to Labour are clearly only doing it to influence policy.

Unions represent ordinary working people. That’s where their money and priorities come from. I’m really quite ok with them having a political voice…

Hurrah! All MPs get their summer holidays courtesy of the taxpayer. Enjoy yourselves, hopefully that won't apply to Christmas.

So 9th May then?

Hope not. I’m away in the north of Scotland. I want to enjoy the election night.

DuncinToffee · 14/03/2024 19:25

Brandon Lewis stepping down at the next election-

They are dropping like flies, who will be next?

I was worried by their article saying that prescribing Hizb-ut-Tahrir would be antidemocratic. HuT aren't very nice.

They don't sound it, but MEND aren't alone in thinking tis wasn't a very good move. Various counter terror groups , and the LSE seem to concur.

@itsgettingweird that 'sorry for the Tories' thread is actually quite encouraging. OP got a pasting and there's very little Tory support on there, except for the ubiquitous Clav.

That's reassuring 🤭

Hester's money comes from government contracts, his priority is enriching himself, so it is a priority to pay for that to continue to happen.

Telegraph is saying the the first flight to Rwanda won't take off until the end of May

Is Sunak waiting for that 🤔

I think that is a fair bet. It is about all they have left. God, that will be such a repulsive day. If it happens.

L1ttledrummergirl · 14/03/2024 19:44

Clav had me defending Dale Vince- he's an idiot that jumps on the latest bandwagon and doesn't mind being hypocritical, but certainly doesn't compare to Frank Hester. Never thought I'd be defending him.

Given the shit state of the countries finances, I'm curious as to how much money can be saved by holding all the elections on the same day. The buildings and people to mn them are already in place.

To hold it a few weeks later, with all the disruption that would cause, particularly in schools that are used as a voting station causing them to close, would be a really bad look for him. Although great for the opposition- closing schools will be a reminder of the covid closures, especially if they could have avoided it by holding on May 2nd.
After Summer tells us they want to keep being paid during the off time, that making money for themselves is their priority.
That leaves winter when the NHS is backed up. In my opinion, May 2nd is their best option and that's exactly why they won't want to hold it then. Showing their judgement is as crap as ever.

Is that for people they are paying to go there?

Not perhaps the most grown-up of tweets from Labour but we're all thinking it😆

Are you supposed to be discussing other posters behind their back?

I haven't even seen the 'sorry for the Tories' thread let alone posted on it (L1ttledrummergirl is referring to a different thread).

Just report if you are unhappy but it is nice of you to unlurk (if that is a word)

I thinks its called delurking - engaging after passive viewing.

He'd probably lose in any case. Proud of campaigning for a bridge that has had to be closed as it is stuck.

Though better than spending £30m or so on one that not even had one brick placed to start it.

Actually, I put my name into advanced search.

I'll happily say it while you are here Clav. Thank you for turning me on my head, and making me see that anything is possible. Never thought I'd be defending Dale Vince of all people.

Was it done in a specific and limited way Wink

Does Gove lurk in extremist groups (other than whichever Con family he is in) and that is why he was able to name them?
