I’m SO over bras. Is no underwires with big boobs possible?

I’m done with wires. The downstairs of my house is littered with bras I’ve removed from inside my clothes and discarded the moment I’ve got in. I’ve tried some Asda non-wired bras and they’re comfortable but not massively supportive.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I’m 36g/gg.

I think Ive given up at this point....have been living in cheap crop top style ones while losing weight. Now I CBA with all the measuring and wires digging in so I just bought some cheap sports bras from Primark in a size too small and smooshed everything in!
It def gives uniboob but at least nothing is jiggling about.

@ClutchingOurBananas Thank you for your really helpful reply. There are so many adverts for non wired bras, so the manufacturers know there’s a demand, but it’s almost impossible to find one that gives the separation and uplift.

I absolutely hate wired bras too. I find m&s have a fairly good selection of non-wired. My problem is that I haven't different sized boobs, so need a padded bra to help disgusie it, as well as being non-wired for comfort. I just can't seem to find a full cup bra (no plunging clevage), with padding and no wire that also fits my broad back! Has anyone here found such a thing???

MyPenIsHuge · 08/03/2024 14:32

Yes it is. 34G here.

Molke, Wilde Mode, other DD+ crop tops can be comfy and supportive.

I just love the Triumph Doreen bras and have done for the past 20 years! Proper wire-free scaffolding.

Edit: now reading up the thread and seeing how much other people like Doreen too! It actually gives you quite a nice silhouette, if a bit 1950s.

Edited

The Doreen delicate isn't as rigid as the original Doreen but still offers a good level of support.

Twolittleloves · 08/03/2024 16:13

I'm breastfeeding so still wear nursing bras (so no wire) but they are still fairly supportive-better than any other non wired ones i've tried.38E or F I think they are, M&S ones. Will look to get their normal ones when I switch out of the nursing ones.

OP - have you tried bravissimo? the only way to really fit bras is to try on different sizes

I had the same issues as you with wires but once I was in the right size, wired bras are immensely comfortable! I was wearing 36d and turns out I was actually 28g!

Royce is great for non wired... I wear their sports bra for sleeping in. bravissimo carries Royce as well

I really would urge you to go down to a bravissimo store and try out different styles. the panache tango wired bras are sooo comfy.

If I measure immediately under my bust it is 45in. I am tall and broad (and fat). I can't find anything bigger than 40in.

Yogachick · 10/03/2024 22:16

@SplendidPendips my knowledge is no use then, sorry , that’s why I wanted to check. I was going to suggest Maisie post surgery bra by Royce but sadly only goes up to 38 back😢

I’m 34H/36G. The solution is proper fitting and the really expensive bras. It’s life changing. I now only wear Prima Donna Deauville- they’re £100 but you can often get deals. Super supportive and very comfortable. Sadly for big boobs cheap bras just don’t work. I just buy one new one per year.

Good grief. 36gg.. I thought 35-40 per bra was bad 😭. I only wear panache envy. Have dabbled with wireless for home but nothing great. Have to say it's depressing a good wireless one for my size is the same price as wired.

JoJothegerbil · 11/03/2024 07:32

I had a viral rash all over my body a week or so ago and couldn't get my 36h boobs into my usual Elomi underwired bra without feeling really uncomfortable. I bought an M&S Flexfit bra. It's pretty comfy, but not as supportive as underwired, but ok for day to day.

Like AfterTheWatershed I'm now having to resort to buying padded inserts. Why am I having to do this? Just to deal with nipple coverage. It's ridiculous.

I bought a bra from lemonade dolls because they look lovely. It was really uncomfortable though. Scratchy seams and fabric.
I like shapermint. Very soft.

We all have nipples, they are nothing to be embarrassed about or ashamed of.

Check out Lucky Sew and Sew. she has an Instagram page too. All lingerie is personalised to your own measurements including larger people. It's owned by a single lady so orders fo take 2- 3 months to arrive and she only opens the shop periodically (announcing on instragram when she will). They fit so well.

Oblomov24 · 11/03/2024 14:32

@StarlightLady
Not every woman has nipples that show through a bra. But some do.
I'm not embarrassed. Or ashamed. I just don't want mine showing at work, through my bra, thank you. And that is my choice, and I'm happy with that choice, thanks all the same.

NoCloudsAllowed · 11/03/2024 14:38

A bra is the most complex garment to make, it takes incredible strain, especially when you've got heavy boobs. And a badly fitting one makes you miserable. You can't expect to get that from Asda for a tenner.

StarlightLady · 11/03/2024 14:39

@Oblomov24 - Fair comment and, of course the choice is yours. And l still feel my point was valid too, but no more than yours.

StormsAreNeverNamedAfterMe · 11/03/2024 14:39

These are wired but as it’s a Tshirt bra the padding over the wires is good and they don’t dig in at all

I also think it is disingenuous to think that people aren't going to notice. I can totally understand why it makes many women feel self conscious.

There was a thread about this quite recently that showed how unpleasant some people can be.

I'm 32GG and wear these. They are amazingly supportive, give good shape and so comfortable.
