I’m SO over bras. Is no underwires with big boobs possible?

I’m done with wires. The downstairs of my house is littered with bras I’ve removed from inside my clothes and discarded the moment I’ve got in. I’ve tried some Asda non-wired bras and they’re comfortable but not massively supportive.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I’m 36g/gg.

I have Elomi. They are underwired and comfy. Does your underwire sit on your chest wall? I can't really feel mine when it's on, even when I'm in their sports bras which are obviously more compressive, but still comfortable.

Second Elomi
I like their plunge shapes like Matilda. No comfort issues and I've fallen asleep in them before (34K)

TiredyMcTired · 07/03/2024 22:46

Same size(s) as you OP, and have been struggling to find a decent non wired bra for ages. I tried Molke, but actually found the bra seriously uncomfortable to wear. Most other non wired leave me with a mono boob and sweaty. I’ve seen lots of ads for Shapermint and the new Snag bras but not sure if they are much the same. M&S flexifit is the closest to comfy that I’ve found.

Will be fascinated to see whether you uncover the holy grail of non wired bras for the bigger boobed!

I'm a 34GG. Always used to wear sports bras but then about 4 years ago I discovered these

Very comfortable, good separation so no monoboob, highly recommend.

Wired bras are a no no - got rid of all mine I am a 36E - don't care what they look like - comfort is key!

ifIwerenotanandroid · 07/03/2024 23:29

I could never find a wired bra that actually fitted until I went to a posh lingerie shop (now departed, alas) & spent nearly £100 on one bra. My goodness, what a difference! It felt right as soon as I put it on, & I can wear it all day without even noticing or thinking about it, because it's so comfortable - more comfortable than my non-wired ones.

The saleswoman told me there's no comparison between high-end bras & high street ones, & I think that's true. I don't understand why, though: surely a designer for the high street could look at what makes these bras so great & just reproduce it in cheaper materials? Instead, cheaper ones always feel like I'm trying to press a bit of misshapen metal against me or wearing ill-fitting armour - so I don't buy them.

M and s flexi fit. So soft and supportive. Best non wire bra I’ve ever known.

costahotchocolatesaremyweakness · 07/03/2024 23:58

I am not sure if they sell them in the UK, but the bralettes from Lively are phenomenal. I have 32E boobs and post babies HATE underwire.

SaveMeFromMyBoobs · 08/03/2024 00:02

Another vote for Molke!

I'm a 48 j and I've searched for years for a non wired bra that is comfy and holds up.. I've discovered SNAG bras.. oh my gosh.. at long last.. ( no good for strappy clothes) because wide bands..

I'm the same size and took non wired on holiday as I couldn't stand the thought of wired in the heat. I then saw photos of myself and realised that despite my boobs feeling supported, they looked anything but. I then saved some money and went to Rigby & Pellar. Bought two bras that are equally as comfortable as the non wired ones but with support. I've never felt comfortable in Bravissimo bras and would always take them off the minute I got home.

Bravissimo consistently put me into bras where the band size is so tight that it hurts after an hour at most. I've had to add a bra extender to the last batch.

I know that most women need a bigger cup and smaller back, but there's such as thing as too small!

I hate non wired, and padded bras too as I'm a larger size 36D and don't want the padding. I found the M&S non wired bras are really comfortable and supportive - boobs still perky when you take them off. I absolutely hate wires so I'm thrilled to have found these. They're on sale at the moment, too!

Doreen delicate. Good support but they're soft and comfortable. I'm a 36dd

Agree, fantastic bras.

DillDanding · 08/03/2024 02:31

Have you tried the bravissimo Millie? I am a 32DD or E and I really rate these bras.

Oblomov24 · 08/03/2024 03:20

I've been looking for ages. I want a support bra like a cropped top. No clips, no wires, just a pull on, but supportive, for a big bust. I've had bravissimo bras before, but I don't want that now. I can't find what I want. Also many of them are too thin, too lacy, with no padding at the nipple. I want a thick bra, like a T-shirt bra. I don't want nipples showing at work thanks.

So I'll review links above, thanks.

MariaVT65 · 08/03/2024 03:41

I have big boobs and I can’t stand bras without any wire or padding, they didn’t give enough support.

Instead of actual maternity bras, I found some good non-wired padded bras from Next.

I still prefer wired though. I find the wire bit in the middle is needed to separate my boobs, which non-wired doesn’t do, otherwise I get sweaty cleavage.

I would also second the advice to go and get a proper fit.

Sorry just FYI, many lingerie brands tend split their bra ranges between A-E cups and then either DD or F+, which is why the link you’ve attached only goes up to E cup.

I agree Op it can be very difficult to get supportive bras in the bigger sizes. Do try somewhere like Bravissimo. Last year when I went in, they didn’t have any non-wired bras with padding though and tried to sell me a post-surgey bra.

This.

Underwires are there for a reason, and that reason is not to make you uncomfortable.

Auburngal · 08/03/2024 06:32

I’m a 44B. I can’t find a bra that fits me in the shops. As manufacturers think the bigger the back, your boobs are bigger. If I was 44DD - fine. Wear bra tops as I can’t be doing with underwired bras as I’m allergic to the wire and the plastic ones are irritating the skin.

im 4.5 stone lighter than I was at my heaviest. Not lost a single inch on my boobs. Hear ladies going down a cup and back size with losing a stone. I would be flat chested if that was applied to me

FinallyHere · 08/03/2024 07:07

What changed for me was a fitting at Rigby and Peller

Totally worth taking days holiday and a trip into London. Wearing a truly comfortable bar, one that fits your body and whose straps have been adjusted to your precise contours will really change how you feel about bras.

There have been programmes over the years showing how difference types and styles of bra suit different people R&P have a really wide range and their fitters are just brilliant.

I'm 36GG too and felt exactly the same as you. I was in constant discomfort from wires jabbing into me. I've discovered Flexifit bras from M and S and have them in all colours. So comfortable.

I was just coming on the say the same. A friend of mine introduced me to these bras at M&S
