Any recommendations?! 😀

Ghosts is brilliant.

Hobbes8 · 04/03/2024 18:45

I was also going to suggest Ghosts, and if they’ve ever watched Horrible Histories they’ll recognise most of the actors.

My kids like the gone wrong series on IPlayer.

For films, Mitchell’s vs the Machines is very funny.

SmallPaperBoat · 04/03/2024 18:45

Ghosts seconded!

PanadTe · 04/03/2024 18:48

Thank you! We’ve seen ghosts over and over. We love it!! We want more of the same but really struggling!

Blackadder

theatremachine · 04/03/2024 18:49

Aha! My specialist subject!

Malcolm in the Middle
Modern Family
The Goes Wrong Show
Wednesday (bit gory in places)
Young Sheldon

All huge hits with DD11 who started with Ghosts!

theatremachine · 04/03/2024 18:50

Oh no, I failed to read the question!

In terms of British ones, The Goes Wrong Show is perfect.

LunaNorth · 04/03/2024 18:51

At that age mine liked Outnumbered, Father Ted and Blackadder.

There are some good older comedies on Brit Box - stuff like The Good Life, Porridge and ‘Allo ‘Allo.

The Fast Show is on iPlayer and is still funny.

Upstart Crow is family friendly, I think.

123dogdog · 04/03/2024 18:56

I loved little Britain and the Catherine Tate show at that age, well slightly younger, I was 8 and 9 when they came out. Possibly not what you are going for though.

outnumbered, the inbetweeners (though possibly inappropriate in some people’s view), Friday night dinner.

OwlDoll · 04/03/2024 18:58

Here we go

Ledl54 · 04/03/2024 19:00

Miranda, Upstart Crow. there’s an American version of ghosts too.

Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong · 04/03/2024 19:00

IT crowd
Outnumbered

Thank you!

Father Ted might be a bit of a stretch for that age, depends how strongly you feel about “feck” and “arse”.

Ghosts, but you’ve already seen it!

At that age I was probably watching all the Croft and Perry shows, but they’re probably too dated for a modern 12yo!

JaneKatSuttonGoals · 04/03/2024 19:05

Outnumbered?

SecondUsername4me · 04/03/2024 19:05

Outnumbered
The Office

Cotswoldmama · 04/03/2024 19:10

Friday night dinner

Habbibu · 04/03/2024 19:11

Yonderland. Made by same people who did Ghosts.

zaxxon · 04/03/2024 19:16

There's a bleeped version of Taskmaster that mine loved. Think it's on channel 4 catch-up, or maybe Netflix.

Also, Brooklyn nine-nine

zaxxon · 04/03/2024 19:16

Oops - Brooklyn nine-nine not British obviously!

mogtheexcellent · 04/03/2024 19:34

Im watching father ted with my nearly 10 year old. I prewatch so know if there are any problematic bits and we either skip episode or the scene. C4 has warnings on the episodes so just avoid the adult nature ones.

Also Blandings is a big hit. Its on britbox. When we finish S2 we are going to watch jeeves and wooster.

But my DDs fave? Death in paradise and murder she wrote.

Useyourname · 04/03/2024 20:06

Ooh I second Miranda, bleeped Taskmaster and outnumbered

I'd be surprised if tweens understood the humour in The Office but happy to be proved wrong!

We loved Fawlty Towers at that age but might benefit from a pre watch like @mogtheexcellent with Father Ted (LOVE father ted)

Some Mothers Do Ave Em is on iPlayer at the moment and I'm loving it! Never seen it before. Very silly

Radio not TV but Cabin Pressure! Might be my favourite thing ever. Definitely tween appropriate and very British

Everyoneisunreasonable · 04/03/2024 21:10

Red dwarf

LaChienneDesFromages · 04/03/2024 21:21

DS is 12 and loves comedy.

He’d second the recommendations of Miranda, The IT crowd, Friday Night Dinner, Citizen Kahn and Ghosts. Plus a hearty recommendation for ‘Allo ‘Allo and Dad’s Army. I think because they are period comedies they’ve dated less than other shows (un-PC elements notwithstanding)

I was so excited to show him Red Dwarf and it felt strangely dated. I don’t know why. Ditto One Foot in the Grave, which I loved back in the day.

AMouseLivedinaWindMillI · 04/03/2024 22:19

Here we have go
The blandings
