Ds likes watching only fools and horses

Friday night dinner. It's a bit naughty but my 12 year old loved it, as did we!

Thank you!

We’ve watched Friday Night Dinner… loved it! And Outnumbered. Again, love it.

Will try the IT Crowd. I’ve never seen it either.

Ooh you are in for a treat. The gay musical episode is my all time favourite comedy episode, I am smiling even thinking about it. It's very much exaggerated silly comedy in Fr Ted style.

MeinKraft · 05/03/2024 14:56

You might enjoy the witchfinder on BBC iPlayer.

Weegieunicorn · 05/03/2024 14:58

Still Game is loved by all ages.

Really? I don't know if it's different for viewers outside Scotland; we absolutely love it, but there's no way we'd let our 12yo watch it yet.

I agree! I weep with laughter every time I see it.

Red Dwarf and Blackadder a big hit in our house. I learned more British history from Blackadder than I did at school!

The gay musical is a marvel and the countdown episode is in equal in my eyes. Both have me crying with laughter no matter how many times I watch them.

@HoneyWogan 12 years old is at High School, possibly second year. I'm sure they've seen a lot worse 😉

LyndaSnellsSniff · 05/03/2024 19:20

Are you after TV comedies only? If you would consider audio comedies, I cannot recommend Cabin Pressure enough. My DCs have always loved it and listen on repeat.

LyndaSnellsSniff · 05/03/2024 19:22

Also, the Stephen Fry/Hugh Laurie series of Jeeves & Wooster is very, very funny.

millionleaves · 05/03/2024 19:24

We are quite a liberal household here, so you may disagree

some episides (note SOME) Mighty Boosh, IT Crowd, Father Ted, Black Books

My 11 y/o loves Friday Night Dinner and also recently watched Spaced (again some parts may be less appropriate) and loved it.

Ghosts as well.

Within most of the above there is the odd episode or scene that is less appropriate though so be warned, depends on how emotionally mature or liberal you are as a family!

fruitypancake · 05/03/2024 19:38

Friday Night dinners - absolutely hilarious

cornflower21 · 05/03/2024 19:39

Red Dwarf.

greglet · 05/03/2024 19:43

Red Dwarf
Blackadder
Smack the Pony
Green Wing (bit sweaty though)
Father Ted
Friday Night Dinner

greglet · 05/03/2024 19:44

*sweary!
The Mighty Boosh is great too, as is Spaced

TheChosenTwo · 05/03/2024 19:49

I was feeling like a bad parent because ds just watched the whole lot of Friday night dinners when he was poorly a couple of weeks ago, now I’ve seen so many others have done the same I feel much better!
Dds and I watched it all as the series came out but ds is only 12, he’d seen small bits of it just coming into the room if we were watching and he did laugh but I thought the content often veered off into inappropriate so would keep pausing until he wandered off again!
Anyway that’s what he’s watching and rewatching at the moment, I’m finding it hard to find things to watch with him but I think we’ll give Fawlty Towers a go, I used to love it.

TheChosenTwo · 05/03/2024 19:53

He also loves would I lie to you and house of games (not a comedy obviously but can be very funny and silly anyway).
The Inbetweeners is an absolute no from me at 12! I love it but I would say it was far too inappropriate for a year 7. Yes they may well hear it at school but that’s not a good enough reason for me to endorse it at home!

Ours hasn't, but he isn't very 'worldly' in that way at all. I know you'll probably think "Oh, little do you know", but I'm certain of that.

Not judging anybody at all, though; different kids and different families do things differently.

ThanksItHasPockets · 05/03/2024 19:58

The misogyny of the Inbetweeners is more of an issue to me than the swearing / general vulgarity. When you are an adult it’s obvious what losers they are and this is where most of the comedy comes from but when they are older than the viewer that element is missing.

Citizen Khan isn't exactly pc but it's all good silly fun. DD discovered it and we both enjoyed it, very funny
