Any recommendations?! 😀

Oh, and Father Ted. Though that's Irish.

devildeepbluesea · 05/03/2024 06:43

Following for ideas. DD loves Ghosts, Cabin Pressure, Outnumbered and Miranda. Had though Friday Night Dinner and Gavin and Stacey a bit old but actually probs not any more. She’ll love G&S because it’s filmed in our neck of the woods.

HeyJugee · 05/03/2024 06:44

Count Arthur Strong was a favourite for ours- Some Mothers do ave em is on bbc iplayer - reeves and Mortimer

ThanksItHasPockets · 05/03/2024 06:46

It’s not British, but Derry Girls.

I don’t know any 10-12 year-olds who would get on with the UK Office. The US version is more accessible to start off with.

There's a bleeped version of Taskmaster that mine loved. Think it's on channel 4 catch-up, or maybe Netflix.

Also, Brooklyn nine-nine

we thought the same about Brooklyn 99, we’ve seen it already and don’t remember any dodgy bits.
2 episodes in with our 10 year old we quickly switched it off! Really risqué and down right rude in many places.

Fallenangelofthenorth · 05/03/2024 06:53

Plebs is similar to Ghosts. I think it's also on iplayer. Sorry not iplayer it's the BBC one.

My daughter at that age also liked
Benidorm
Father Ted
Blackadder
Friday Night Dinner
Inbetweeners (bad mother)

Mine liked not going out, although might suggest you watch a couple first to check suitability. We are currently watching ted lasso defo got quite a bit of swearing so gain I’d recommend you pre-watch a couple!

Chocolateorange11 · 05/03/2024 07:02

I also liked Stella but not watched that with my kids

Jifmicroliquid · 05/03/2024 07:03

The Brittas Empire is on britbox. It’s a show that people write off as silly but it’s so cleverly written and the characters are amazing. Things like a gay relationship are covered so brilliantly, way ahead of its time.
Chris Barrie is hilarious as Brittas.

Ted Lasso is INCREDIBLY sweary!

Thank you!

We’ve watched Friday Night Dinner… loved it! And Outnumbered. Again, love it.

Will try the IT Crowd. I’ve never seen it either.

There are some bits of the IT Crowd that might be considered as inappropriate for their age. (It depends on your opinion.) So if you haven't watched it I'd suggest watching the episodes yourself first. (It's more of a subject thing - not like there's graphic violence or sex scenes.)

I watch it with one of mine when he was around 12 possibly 11. I'd never seen it and during the first episode I recall I thought "oops". (That was the only time watching I felt that.)

For a slight spoiler click on 'Edit' it read why I thought oops 😃

Jaboody · 05/03/2024 08:43

At that age I was watching Harry Enfield and chums, Dad's Army and Goodness Gracious Me although they are sketch shows, bar Dads Army.

LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!

Bbq1 · 05/03/2024 08:49

Only Fools and Horses? Our ds loved Fawlty Towers when he was about 14.

Bbq1 · 05/03/2024 08:50

Oh yes abd Some Mothers... was a hit.

BigPandaLittlePanda · 05/03/2024 09:17

Some great suggestions. My DS12 would love Father Ted!

The programmes that have him properly laughing until you cry are

Would I Lie To You
Most of the Rob and Romesh series
Googlebox

(The last two can be quite sweary/rude!)

TroysMammy · 05/03/2024 09:21

Keeping Up Appearances. A learning tool how to deal with annoying neighbours in the future 😀

Brittas Empire is a great recommendation, might go back and watch it again myself!

Did anyone mention Red Dwarf?

I second/third/fourth bleeped Taskmaster.

Keeping Up Appearances is effectively just televised AIBU Grin

HoneyWogan · 05/03/2024 10:02

I can't remember if there might be a bit of language or possibly inappropriate themes, but Bill Bailey's stand-up is generally 'clean' and absolutely hilarious for the whole family - especially his musical numbers.

Also, Milton Jones - he's brilliantly silly and very funny indeed, but nothing at all that you'd have to worry about younger people seeing.

Jeeves and Wooster
