Raye is just like a Amy Winehouse tribute act.

Pffttt 🤣🤣 she really really is!

StoneColdAlibi · 02/03/2024 23:24

Jesus Christ what a miserable bunch you are 😂. I'm sure your parents were saying the same about the acts you loved back in the 90's.

Music will always evolve and change and just because it's not your era doesn't make it rubbish.

Pixiesfan · 02/03/2024 23:25

Raye's performance was incredible tonight! I didn't know a lot of the artists, but I appreciate new music, even if it's not to my taste.

Pixiesfan · 02/03/2024 23:26

@StoneColdAlibi - couldn't agree more!

I think it's deeper than that.

Most parents dont like the same music as their teens but at the same time can appreciate a good artist. That was all shit.

StoneColdAlibi · 02/03/2024 23:27

@fanisalwayson
Agree Chase and Status are brilliant, though veering a bit too far into the mainstream now. That performance was a bit cringey.
I loved their dubstep era, Blind Faith is one of my favourite tunes of all time

StoneColdAlibi · 02/03/2024 23:29

@bornak 'That was all shit'

Ok 👍🏻

Babyroobs · 02/03/2024 23:29

I hadn't heard of a lot of the nomimees to be honest. Like Raye but irritated by her winning so many and her acceptance speeches !

WinterMorn · 02/03/2024 23:34

@StoneColdAlibi Blind Faith really is something else, isn’t it?

@StoneColdAlibi 100% this!

Dabralor · 02/03/2024 23:46

Jarvis Cocker mooning at Michael Jackson was peak Brits for me. It was the most phenomenal thing I'd seen in my 13 years on the planet.

underthebun · 02/03/2024 23:48

I don’t understand how Duo lipa is such a big pop star, is it because there isn’t much competition these days?

SevenSeasOfRhye · 02/03/2024 23:49

My mum, 30 years my senior, liked much of the same music as me in the 90s. We'd take turns taping the Top 40 and the John Peel show every week. Happy days!

Raye is brilliant

Spanglybangles · 03/03/2024 01:15

There were a fair few I’m not familiar with, but Raye is outstanding. Her writing background, her story of getting to where she is now…quite something. Anyone doubting her talent should watch her performance on Graham Norton last year, just incredible.

Kylie was of course, fab as always.

NoMoreFalafelsForYou · 03/03/2024 01:17

I turned off after after about ten minutes as I legit did not have a clue who anyone was 😭😂
Edit as just seen Kylie was on - damn, see I know and love Kylie, should have stuck it out lol

GingerSquid · 03/03/2024 01:18

Deffo bring back the likes of Jarvis, Liam and Robbie! Real people with soul and flaws and no “media training”! It used to be such an event - truly live and exciting.

I thought that too!!

Alex Drake · 03/03/2024 02:34

Ah a previous poster mentioning Smash Hits Poll Winners Party has brought back so many memories for me. Must've been circa1990 and Phillip Schofield hosting - EMF playing then trashing their instruments after. Schof was so dismissive and headteacher like of them, they just scuttled off Grin

I'm sure Vanilla Ice Ice baby was on after them. Those were the days!

That's Unbelievable 😁

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 03/03/2024 10:03

I feel far too old to watch it in the first place. Saves me saying, ‘I’ve never heard of any of them!’

ButterflyTable · 03/03/2024 10:04

When the male host compared Green Day to Busted I was like wtaf

AmusedMaker · 03/03/2024 10:17

It was much better when they had separate male/ female artists. Last year there were complaints that the awards were dominated by male artists, so it feels like this year they’ve over compensated by giving female artists pretty much everything. I’m sure Raye is brilliant ( I’ve heard of her but couldn’t name a single song ) but it almost feels like tokenism.

AuntieMarys · 03/03/2024 10:19

AKAsomeoneelse · 02/03/2024 23:45

@StoneColdAlibi 100% this!

Yes! I'm mid 60s and have heard of about 80% of them. Been to see Last Dinner Party twice

Smartiepants79 · 03/03/2024 10:21

I’m 44.
I enjoyed Dua Lipa, Calvin Harris, Kylie and Jungle.
I’d heard of about 3/4 of the acts.
Grime and rap leaves me cold and I don’t really get the hype about Raye.
but then I cant stand Liam Gallagher either!
