Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just finishing my first cuppa of the day & boiling the kettle to make a coffee. The washer's on already, and on it's second spin, and I've had a tidy round. There's last night's pots to be done and a second wash load - the pots will be someone else's job!

I'm having a tooth out this morning, before starting another medication...just how I want to spend my Saturday morning 😥 Not sure what else I'll do today - suppose that depends how painful the tooth coming out is 🤷‍♀️. I'd like to get the rest of the bead tassels on my jacket for the Eras Tour & pick up a parcel from round the corner.

The girls are off into town to see if they can find reduced cowboy boots in Primarni for dd2 to wear to the Eras Tour - her skirt arrived yesterday & she's
getting excited now 😊 She's never been to a concert before. Dd1 asked for...something...while they're there but I cannot remember what it was. It may well have been a charger wire - she seems to eat those!

Later on, tea will probably be a help yourself affair - I've already told them I'm making something soft for myself, & no-one's bothered to look and see what there is to be had. I suspect noodles and toasties will be what they have.

Probably an early one for me tonight - I'll either read some more of my book or solve some more Murdle puzzles first. I'm stuck on a puzzle atm so haven't picked Murdle up this week 🙈 Maybe tonight's the night I'll get it!

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning! I'm off to town to do a bit of shopping, then this evening I'm going out to bingo and for a few drinks with friends. 16yo DS is still asleep, I don't think he has much on this weekend.

Good luck with the tooth, I hope it's not too painful!

Penguinsa · 02/03/2024 07:55

Hope the tooth coming out goes as well as it can.

We are off to a Historic House place to walk around gardens and they have a lambing event, might be in the rain though.

DD has been at an all night party. DS is gaming. Floof is being very chatty and trilly and has been all night.

bingoringo4 · 02/03/2024 07:59

M just drinking my first tea of the day. I've got my gd (4 months) this weekend because her parents are at a wedding. Last night wasn't to bad she went down at 10:30 woke at 2am had a cuddle and slept until 6:30 this morning. Feeling rather zoned out this morning and it's brought back what it's like having a baby 😴 my youngest is 7 so I'm well out of the baby club (thank god 😴) and it's only night one of three 😵‍💫

The weather is wet here today so no idea what we will do. I planned to get out as much as possible this weekend but it's far to wet to do anything. Dinner is fajitas tonight cooked by someone other than me.

I have read your Sheffield direction (not stalking!) before if it helps I saw the boots in Nottingham city store yesterday.

Just having a quiet five minutes here before the toddler wakes husband is still asleep too.

not a lot planned today hopefully a nice easy leisurely day.

im exhausted at the moment so a day in will be good for me.

PermanentTemporary · 02/03/2024 08:05

Good morning all! Healing vibes to your mouth @lucysmam.

Enjoying a lie in after an insomniac week - slept through till 630. Had first coffee and about to wordle and Duolingo. Then very excited as dp and I are off to see ds in a university sport competition, plus some other family will be around that day so will catch up with some cousins I haven't seen for ages.

lucysmam · 02/03/2024 08:07

Thanks @Andnowshesatoddler they did have them in our local one a few weeks back so fingers crossed they drop on them there, and in the right size, before we go further. I don't think she'll wear them more than the once so want to spend as little as possible.

Morning. I had planned to take DD out in yet more rain and mud for a good run around at a park this morning while DH went food shopping for the weekend.

However, we've woken up to snow that neither of my two weather apps saw coming (and both insist isn't actually happening), so it'll be snow angels and snowmen and being penguins in the garden instead.

piscofrisco · 02/03/2024 08:08

Good morning @lucysmam and all.

I don't envy your dentist trip at all. I hate the dentist. Hope it goes as well as possible.

I am up and packed as we are about to drive the three hours up to see my mum and dad in the Peak District for the night. We are taking them out for afternoon tea in Bakewell this afternoon. It will be nice to be home. I still think of it as home and I haven't lived there for 22 years!

It's absolutely pissing it down, the house is a state (hate leaving it like that to come back to) and I am knackered from a very late finish at work last night but dh has bought some sweets for the journey and I actually quite enjoy a little road trip so all good really. The dogs will sleep in the back all the way hopefully and we will pop some tunes on.

Have a nice day all

Taytocrisps · 02/03/2024 08:09

I had bad stomach pain all night so I'm weighing up the options of Doctor on Call versus A&E . Good luck with the tooth @lucysmam .

TheBirdintheCave · 02/03/2024 08:10

Taking my son to his first ballet class 😬

Toomuch44 · 02/03/2024 08:10

DH going to gym. I'm doing an online tai chi class I like and will go for a walk late morning. We're pondering suggesting a last minute get together with friends this afternoon. If not, I'll get a couple of things for DH's birthday which is coming up. DH out tonight, so I have a rare evening to myself, mostly with a book.

OlgaRhythm · 02/03/2024 08:11

Trying to get some editing work done after a busy week of clinical placement for retraining. The house is a pit but we have visitors coming tomorrow so I am waiting for a last-minute panic clean and tidy tomorrow morning! Eldest and DH are off to a gliding club for the day. Younger two are currently glued to a screen. Hoping a cup of coffee is going to find its way upstairs to me shortly. No idea what is for lunch or tea, shall have a rummage through the freezer and cupboards when I can be arsed to move. Ditto putting some washing on. No plans to leave the house at all.

wineandsunshine · 02/03/2024 08:12

Morning!

I am going to walk the dog around my local soggy country park this morning once I've rolled out of my warm pit!

Then DS has a blood test at the hospital so we are going to pop into IKEA afterwards (I want a new hallway runner!). Then DS can choose where to have dinner...hoping he doesn't choose McDonald's 🥴

Kim82 · 02/03/2024 08:13

Good morning, I hope the tooth extraction goes well.

I’m just having my first cup of tea of the day with dh. He’s feeling sorry for himself as he has to come home from work yesterday as he was throwing up and only stopped around 4am this morning so he’s not gone into work today understandably.

There’s just me and dh up so far. I’m wondering how ds(22) is feeling this morning as he came round last night armed with a couple of bottles of wine and we watched a film - it was lovely just me and him but he drank most of the wine himself and was a bit worse for wear when I went to bed - he stayed up chatting with dd16 after she came home from her friends and I’ve no idea what time he left to go home - silly sod 😆

But today’s plans - my Tesco shop is due in about an hour, I need to do some washing and scrub the bathroom and go to Costco to fill the car up. Dd19 is working this afternoon but nobody else has any plans really. Then tonight I’m going to my friends for a takeaway curry and maybe wine (I haven’t decided if I’m driving or not yet, it depends how I feel later).

Chillywilly10 · 02/03/2024 08:14

Currently laying in bed listening to the rain. BLISS. I'll do my usual saturday house clean & tidy today. Going to the supermarket for a food shop. Made my list last night. Might do some baking. Might go for an exercise class, undecided as yet. Either way, I want nothing tying today so I can decide what to do and when and if I fancy it. Lately I've had too many people trying to dictate what I should be doing. This weekend is time to chill.

Willmafrockfit · 02/03/2024 08:16

good morning
have had breakfast, need to walk dog, go shopping and perhaps get a hair cut

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 02/03/2024 08:16

Good morning hope the tooth isn't too bad. I'm off to weigh in at slimming world. Only 12.5 pounds to target but not expecting a loss as been out for two birthday meals this week. Then I'm going to the library then taking DD 11 out shopping for her birthday which was on Wednesday (DH's same day!). Tonight she's having 3 friends round for a sleepover 😬

Whataweirdsituation · 02/03/2024 08:17

Good morning all!

Love love love these threads 🥰

DS aged 4 stayed over for a sleepover last night at the grandparents so I’ve had a nice slow morning so far - planning our summer holiday on my laptop with Call the Midwife on in the background (I’m obsessively ploughing through it all as I’m late to the party!). Brought a cinnamon bun for breakfast yesterday and chomped that down in 2 seconds flat!

DS is coming home in a few hours, and then we’ll see what to do today. It’s a bit drizzly here but the weather should pick up a bit, and he’s been asking all week to go to ‘Princess Di Gardens’ (Hyde Park in London, with a huge pirate ship for those who know it) so we may don coats and wellies and head into the city. I’m sure we’ll find hot chocolates en route home ;)

No idea what we’ll do this evening. I assume there’ll be YouTube involved - DS’s current obsession is with videos of mentos being added to coke and exploding everywhere. I choose to think of this as obsession with science rather than just blowing stuff up 😂 Dinner will be pasta I think, something nice and easy!

RomeoRivers · 02/03/2024 08:18

Morning!
The kids are playing nicely while I have a cup of tea and try to push down the morning sickness 🙈 DH is lighting the fire. I’m taking my daughter to her dance class in a bit, then meeting my friend for afternoon tea and a catch up. My mum is coming round this evening to catch up after a day of viewing flats. I hope she’s found a suitable one 🤞🏻

Echobelly · 02/03/2024 08:21

It's my choir concert tonight, so I'm going to bake a cake for the interval, then rehearsing this afternoon.

Just recovered from Covid but weirdly although I get a bit hoarse if I talk extensively, my singing voice is fine. Which is just as well as it can get a bit worn out on concert day.

frozendaisy · 02/03/2024 08:22

About to go down and make coffee/put a wash on.

Then we are all going, including H, to the "big shops". H has a couple of gadget based purchases to investigate so hopefully that will keep the teenage sulking to a bare minimum.. it's likely to be dreadful.

We shall see.

Mexican tonight, pretty beans have been soaking overnight. Takes hours to make. Worth it though, just about.

And I shall be reading An Inspector Calls to encourage GCSE homework. Not a text I studied so it's new to me.

Simonjt · 02/03/2024 08:23

Morning.

I woke up early and the dog didn’t want to get up, so I went to the gym instead, it was lovely and quiet so I didn’t have to wait to use anything.

We’ve all had aloo ki takari with paratha for breakfast, yummy.

We’re gaining some more family members today, we’re collecting four chickens from a place that rehomes chickens from intensive egg production farms. So we’re quite excited by that, here you need written permission from your neighbours and someone comes out and does a welfare check before and after the chickens arrive, we passed the before check on Thursday, then they’ll come out again on Monday to check their vaccination records etc.

Our son has a rugby game today, so one of us will take him there and stay to watch. Toddler dance has been cancelled, so one of us will likely take our daughter somewhere later to wear her out a bit.

I hope the extraction goes well @lucysmam, remember no sucking straws etc after as it can dislodge the scab.

Firstshoes · 02/03/2024 08:24

I hope the tooth extraction isn't too bad Sad. Myself and dd2 are off to town for matching tattoos (only small ones). Then she wants to have a look round Waterstones and we'll probably have lunch somewhere. DH is asleep after night shift and dd1 is still feeling sad after a failed driving test. Later dd2 and dh are working and I'm making chicken curry for dinner with a glass of wine with dd1. Have a good day everyone!

Shutupyoutart · 02/03/2024 08:26

morning all. I'm currently huddled on the couch with a duvet with the two youngest, up since 6 watching topsy and Tim!no one else awake yet. heading to town later to go to the library with the kids and choose some new books, and get things for world book day costumes. they have a lovely sensory room in our local library so taking Ds to that since the weather is crap and prob won't get to the park. got to at some point today type up the rest of my first assignment for the course I started last week. dinner will prob be something easy like burgers and chill this eve with my book (hopefully ).

claudiawinklemansfringetrimmer · 02/03/2024 08:28

Morning :) hope the tooth extraction goes as well as it can!
currently cuddling a baby to sleep for his morning nap. DD and I are up and dressed and DH is sleeping in because he was on a late shift last night. Will drop DD to her performing arts class shortly and do the big shop while she’s there.

Then we’re depositing baby with grandparents and DH and I are taking DD out for lunch and to buy some new school shoes. She’s starting a new school on Monday and I thought she could do with some extra attention in case she was feeling upset about it- she isn’t, she’s absolutely buzzing with excitement!

Tonight DH is back at work so me and the kids are having tea at my parents and watching gladiators :)
