An album you loved as a teen that you still love

What album did you love as a teen, that you still love now. I don't really listen to album anymore, just the individual songs I like on Spotify. However one album I will listen to, from start to finish, in the correct order, on a regular basis is Greenday, American Idiot. There isn't one song on there I don't like. I love the flow of the album, and it reminds me of being young.

Can't Buy A Thrill, Katy Lied, Pretzel Logic and the Royal Scam by Steely Dan. Loved them when I was at school, and still love them.

Soundtrack of last week's holiday for me....never gets old.

I'm a bit surprised this didn't get more mentions:
Carole King - Tapestry

So so many!
Loving guessing the ages based on these!
If I think about albums that consistently make it on to playlists:
Rancid, and out come the wolves.
The offspring, smash
The Wildhearts, Earth vs The Wild hearts (why do you NEVER play them, radio 6?)
The Eagles, best of.

It saddens me that modern teens don't tend to love modern shouty music as much. My kids are sick of me urging them to just feel it coming up, whenever they're in my car.
I listen to a very wide variety of stuff now, but still love a bouncy band and can probably trace my current love of idles, Bob vylan and mysterines back to that lot.

Depends on age, doesn’t it?

I love that album, but it wasn’t on my radar at all as a teenager.

Tori Amos Little Earthquakes
GNR Appetite for destruction.
Bon Jovi : Bon Jovi.
Bon Jovi: slippery when wet.
David Lee Roth: Eat 'em and smile
Andy McCoy: too much ain't enough
Voice of the beehive: let it bee

So many......sigh

Oh, how I loved Dave Lee Roth. Eat 'em and Smile is a brilliant album. As an aside, I was offered a backstage pass when I saw him in Edinburgh but, very sadly, I was with my then fiancé. I don't even care how sleazy it was, if I'd been on my own or just with friends, I'd have accepted it.

Bat out of hell
Slippery When Wet
Talk dirty to me and Open up and say AHH! By Poison
Night songs and Long cold winter by Cinderella
Both Keepers of the seven keys by Helloween

I think you can see where my list is going.

He was a bit of a lad, but I would not have cared less. I would have climbed him like a telegraph pole. I cannot tell you how gutted I was that I was there with a partner.

Rockandgrohl · 01/03/2024 20:07

No doubt - tragic kingdom I absolutely love it still!

It is all very age dependent. I’m 50 and had never heard of this album (I had a very vague awareness of Carole King in that I’d have said she was a 70s singer). I currently have it playing on Spotify and I recognise use two of the songs but only because of cover versions.
