An album you loved as a teen that you still love

What album did you love as a teen, that you still love now. I don't really listen to album anymore, just the individual songs I like on Spotify. However one album I will listen to, from start to finish, in the correct order, on a regular basis is Greenday, American Idiot. There isn't one song on there I don't like. I love the flow of the album, and it reminds me of being young.

Erasure - The Innocents. Probably the first album I had that played on repeat (and still adore)

Depeche Mode - Violator. Sublime.

Paul Simon - Graceland. If pushed I say this is my favourite album of all time.

Levellers - One Way. Still love it and them. It was the first key music experience for me when I started uni at 18. Wonderful

Graceland came out when I was pregnant with DD1. Her dad bought me the album on tape so I could listen to it on my Walkman whilst bedridden with pre-eclampsia.

Has a special place in my heart

Snow Patrol - Final Straw

'Best ofs' but favourites then and now:
ABBA - Gold

Dire Straits, Communique
Fleetwood Mac, Rumours
ELO, A New World Record
Bruce Springsteen, Born to Run
John Stewart, Bombs Away Dream Babies

Love them still but they do render me a bit tearful and senseless, even after 45 years, so not to be played every day.

Probably the first 3 Queen albums. I took some faulty shoes back and asked for the money and went to buy the third Queen album!!

katseyes7 · 27/09/2024 09:31

The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars.
For both me and my best friend (we're in our sixties now) but that album was the soundtrack to our youth. And it takes us back every time we hear it.

AnotherCrazyBirdLady · 27/09/2024 10:23

Gosh, so, so many, but the ones I've been listening to a lot over the past few years:

Tori Amos - little earthquakes, under the pink, boys for pele
Pink floyd - the wall, wish you were here
Massive attack - mezzannine
Ozric tentacles - arborescence
Spiritualized - ladies and gentlemen we are floating in space
The beatles - abbey road, magical mystery tour
Nirvana - in utero
Babes in toyland - fontanelle

So many memories unlocked!

AllTheAll · 27/09/2024 10:47

Another for

The Cure - Disintegration
May, 1989

On cassette tape. The cassette tape years are where you had to listen to every album in order. One side. Flip. Other side.

I still listen to it regularly, over 35 years, (including a hospital stay) and I still need to listen in the right order, always starting with Plainsong.

Last Dance and Homesick were also on my cassette (apparently not on the vinyl). Can't imagine the album without any of those songs. It's all comfort to me.
