An album you loved as a teen that you still love

What album did you love as a teen, that you still love now. I don't really listen to album anymore, just the individual songs I like on Spotify. However one album I will listen to, from start to finish, in the correct order, on a regular basis is Greenday, American Idiot. There isn't one song on there I don't like. I love the flow of the album, and it reminds me of being young.

Isn't the answer for everyone all the album's you listened to at 15-16 you continue to listen to for the rest of your life?

Yes! I think so. I've been going back and listening to some and I'm loving it. For me it started with Hybrid Park by Linkin Park when I was 11 and probably finished with American Idiot when I was 15 I think after that I certainly started accessing music differently via my ipod, buying songs not albums and listening to playlists not an album in it's entirety. I had a few cds I kept and sometime play in my car which is the only place I have a cd player. So 11 to 15 was the sweet spot for me.

Ones I liked as an older teenager were Club Classics Vol One Soul II Soul, Bleach Nirvana and Mother's Milk Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Must've been about 18 then.

Outofideas79 · 01/03/2024 17:54

@BurbageBrook this is one of my favourites as well. I've got the cd knowing around somewhere.

Snap, America idiot is a masterpiece in my opinion.

I also regularly listen to The Black pArade album by My Chemical Romance start to finish

Oh yes. The Black Parade is a brilliant album as well. When you look at them from this perspective and realise how well they've aged, I think you appreciate them all the more. And Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. I saw MCR a couple of years ago. It was brilliant fun.

Sgt Pepper

I'm not that old, but it was my first album in the 90s

I was born very much in the wrong decade!

Although I like and respect my music choices when I was 11-15, only one or two artists have really stayed with me, Scritti Politti (amazing lyrics!) and Nick Kamen - of course I fancied Green of SP like mad and Nick Kamen, damn that boy was hot and could sing and dance!

Outofideas79 · 01/03/2024 17:58

And By The Way by Red Hot Chili Peppers. Absolutely loved this album.

OMG thank you so much for this thread and @MojoDojoCasaHouse as I am currently thrashing around my kitchen to The Wonder Stuff. Happy days.
I have never stopped listening to Kate Bush, Hounds of Love (amongst other KB classics).

One of my favourite songs ever is Party Girl and when I read Story of My Life (Jay McInerney) where they sing this and say 'we all love Costello' - I was like, hell yeah!
