An album you loved as a teen that you still love

What album did you love as a teen, that you still love now. I don't really listen to album anymore, just the individual songs I like on Spotify. However one album I will listen to, from start to finish, in the correct order, on a regular basis is Greenday, American Idiot. There isn't one song on there I don't like. I love the flow of the album, and it reminds me of being young.

So wrong, It’s right - All Time Low
I wanted my teenage years to feel like that album sooooo bad!
It also reminds me of summer. It’s a perfect bbq out the back with a tall glass of strawberry and lime cider album!

bombastix · 01/03/2024 18:54

Honestly it's a terrible album but I still like Dog Man Star by Suede.

Eventually I got into David Bowie which was the real deal but I still love how over the top it all was vocally and the guitar solos.

Not really albums as such, but I go onto YouTube if I have a free afternoon and listen to Stone roses, Oasis, Blur, older Coldplay tracks, Nirvana, Alanis M, Massive attack, Portishead, old school house etc.all range from me being around 13-20, Oaus etc at 16
My twenties music is definitely Arctic monkeys, Kings of Leon, Kanye West, The killers. Early 30’s Arcade fire and Mgmt, Drake…oh and Elbow! After that I don’t think I’ve like much new music, bar the odd song
I’m 46 now

Oh god loads. My taste hasn't changed much 😆

Over the last few days I've been off work so have had music on a lot! Amongst a load of other random stuff and playlists I've been listening to:

The Distillers: Coral Fang
The Pogues: Rum, Sodomy and the Lash and If I Should Fall From Grace with God
The Clash: London Calling
Rancid: And Out Come the Wolves
X-ray Spex: Germfree Adolescents

And quite a bit of Tracy Chapman and Toots and the Maytals but they're Spotify playlists rather than full albums.

We should be friends!! I love The Distillers so much.

Carry On Up The Charts - The Beautiful South
Cross Road - Bon Jovi
Different Class - Pulp
Galore - Kirsty MacColl
Now 38 and Now 39

There’s a bit of a theme of compilation albums coming through here!

Surfacing by Sarah McLachlan. Listen to it as much today as when it came out in 1997.

Honourable mention to Flood by They Might Be Giants.

I had totally forgotten about this album! Loved it so much!! Thank you for reminding me

Elliania · 01/03/2024 19:09

Different Class by Pulp. Played it to death as a teen.

rubyslippers · 01/03/2024 16:44

Tori Amos - little earthquakes

Me too. I played it again about a month ago for the first time in about 10 years and I've listened to it most days since. The lyrics on that album were out of this world.
"So you found a girl who thinks really deep thoughts,
What's so amazing about really deep thoughts?
Boy you best pray that I bleed real soon - how's that thought for you?"

Del Amitri - Change Everything. That gets played a lot too.

ColonelRhubarbBikini · 01/03/2024 19:16

Hot Fuss by The Killers

First album I ever put on my begged for and surgically attached to me I Pod and I listened to it daily. It was roughly the length of my school bus ride home. I think I’d like Mr Brightside played at my funeral.

A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out by Panic! At The Disco. God I adore that album.

Total emo at heart even though I’m very boring and suburban these days. I still long for my pink hair and lip ring Grin
