Strange things that give you the heebie jeebies?

Was chatting about this with some friends recently. Lighthearted!

I have an irrational fear of sunflowers. They're HUGE! I also go a bit cold when I drive past big industrial structures like cooling towers.

Anyone else get the jeebies over something strange?

Clusters of holes, but only organically made holes, like honeycomb or holes forming in plants. There us a name for it, can’t think of it now.

Really long escalators in tube stations

Houses that always have windows / blinds / curtains shut!

Gives me the willies! I always imagine someone spooky is living there and peering from behind the curtains 😂

Half off the week my blinds an curtains are closed all day simply because when I get up for work it's early and dark so not opening them then an when I come home its dark again, it's getting lighter now tho so my neighbours will be pleased that they will be opened again soon.

Bats, furry AND webbed, and that squeak. Bleugh!

Kangaroos, so muscley and strong! And the giant tail they bounce on to punch and kick.

When a loose strand of hair gets tangled on you in the bath, or accidentally gets in your mouth (blown in by wind etc) genuinely makes me shudder. Hairy drains 🤮 Hair on the floor of the hairdresser. Anything hair related really.

Oh yes, human hair, but in my case, in food. I immediately gag, I find it absolutely disgusting.

Trypophobia. There are quite a lot of us on this thread.

Me ,oh yes forget about that one

Lattice sliding metal bars type of lifts

I 🤔 think it's the combination of a prison like large contraption of bars and a lift

It's the feeling of potentionally being trapped 😕 in a relatively small/medium size space and lift malfunctioning possible type of senerio..

You don't see them as much but I remember them in the 70s

Like a cage

Those old fashioned clackety wooden escalators as well in underground

Mirrors in dark when alone

What springs to mind with this kind of thread

Is that alternative weirdly crazy 🤪 entertaining American TV series

💯 ways to die,

about the bizarre crazy or disturbing ways have met the Grim Reaper in untimely manner ect..

Did anybody watch that TV series back in the early 2000s then?

Men who loudly openly clear the throats of phylem mucus out and about in the street and spit this bodily gunk on the pavements..

Men who instead of blowing their nose 👃 when they need to,

Instead insist on blowing green big snot gunk out and about on street pavements...

cerisepanther73 · 02/03/2024 10:04

Human hair clogged up in drains 🤢

The combo of fats grease clogged up with drains...

I’m kind of with you on the sunflowers. I planted some once for my children to water and grow and they all turned their giant heads towards the kitchen window. Always watching!

They turn to face the sun

Taylormiffed · 02/03/2024 10:41

Also, art deco anything. I can't appreciate the buildings or design at all.

I don't like big pylons and wind turbines etc, it's called megalophobia. Although don't Google!

I am yet another for belly buttons too. I get a bit reactive if mine is touched. An ex of mine, knowing this, tried to poke my belly button to wind me up. He was a professional wrestler. I had him on the floor in seconds, I don’t know where it came from.

The worst time was when I had a laparoscopy with non-dissolving stitches so I had to get them removed, and the nurse who was removing them also had a belly button fear. There was a lot of “oooohhhh”ing.

No but I did enjoy Dead Like Me. About grim reapers and crazy accidents.

The plug hole/drain thingy in the Ladybower reservoir makes my whole body go cold. I wish I hadn’t thought of it now.

Plus tomato ketchup, the smell and sight makes me recoil.

The sound of people cracking their knuckles.

Miloandfreddy · 02/03/2024 11:44

Sponges.. especially the big yellow ones that car washes use. Not for a million pounds would I touch one. Once my friend chased after me with one for a laugh and I actually cried my eyes out begging her to stop.

I love squeezing wet and dry sponges, scratching and tapping them. The car wash ones are good but I prefer smaller ones.

greengreengrass25 · 02/03/2024 11:52

Some antiques and old China as well
