Help- where could this smell possibly be coming from ???

This morning I noticed a funny smell in my kitchen , I thought maybe it was the drain, or something turned

I have a clean house, very tidy and kept clean

I have checked everywhere I can possibly think of! But I cannot figure out where this horrid smell is coming from ?!?!

It smells like rotten milk/ baby sick , i thought maybe my daughter had spilt milk/ cereal but I have checked everyyhing and everywhere, cupboards in the kitchen, the washing machine, dishwasher , drains, boiler, fridge, frezer EVERYWHERE!

I can even now smell it when I walk into the house, I've been on my hands and knees looking under everything , pulling everything out, going around smelling everything!! I have checked all thebrools in the house , sofa , toy boxes etc And I still have no idea and am unable to pinpoint where this awful stench is coming from 😭😭

I am now concerned I'm going to come across something awful!! Although I've literally no idea where !!!

Dead mouse. Give it 2 weeks to dehydrate.

We have tiles in the kitchen so I don't think it would be that!! I may have to get my husband to pull the wood from under the kitchen cabinets to check if anything has managed to get in there and die 😩😩 @Ratfinkstinkypink

Electrical faults can smell sometimes. Look it up but a fishy smell can be an overheating plug socket. Happened with our fridge

When we had exactly this problem it was a blocked drip tray on the fridge. It was located behind the fridge and low down. Smell was rotten milk. A weird mix of fetid and sweet.

@girlwhowearsglasses thank you for this!! I did stand on the worktops to look at the fridge on top (built it) and I did think I could possible smell something up there, so maybe there is an electrical issue with the fridge!! No idea how to get get out though as it's built in 🤦‍♀️

To clarify, it wasn't actually rotten milk. It just smelled like it!

Pull the bottoms of the cupboards out. I had this and there was a dead rat that had come thru the cat flap. Horrific

@ShowOfHands thank you for this!! Would I need to take the actual fridge out to locate this ?? I can't say I can actually smell anything when I open the fridge?

It’ll be this. You can buy kits on Amazon to suck out the blockage.

The drip tray is usually either behind the bottom shelf or your vegetable drawers.

My guess is a rogue rotting potato. They smell grim. Have you checked your potato storage?

We could only get to our tray by pulling the fridge out.

Oh yes this too. My friend had this and got the cleaning kit

It didn't smell inside the fridge btw. I spent nearly a week crawling on my hands and knees before starting a thread on here...

I vote fridge or potato.

Have you looked on top of your cupboards? We had a dead collard dove up there that the cat must’ve brought in. (He must’ve spent his last bit of energy flying up there 💀 😢)

Both of the times I’ve been tormented by an unfathomable smell in the house and driven myself mad dismantling everything to get to the source… both of these times, I’ve been unwittingly pregnant 😳!

We had a grim smell in our kitchen. I re washed all the pans from the cupboards…long story short,husband found a live rat living under the cupboard 🤦‍♀️🤢It had squeezed in through a 2inch gap and had been eating the dog biscuits from dog bowl . It had also dragged a small blanket from the dog bed in through the gap !!!

It will probably be the fridge overflow. You will need to pull out the fridge and clean the drip tray at the back

@strugglingnd oh my god, this is horrific 😩😩🤢 we do have a cupboard for our dog food!! I'm hoping this isn't the case 😭
