GP bollocked me for a Facebook comment

So, I don't know if I ll be the only one but basically my GP used my telephone consult to bollock me for a comment I made on FB.
Like all local FB groups there's always a whinge topic and even though our GP practice is very good sometimes the 7am App for making appointments just doesn't work so by the time I can call though all the appointments have gone sometimes by 9am. So I commented on a post that was already running about this- nothing mean just agreeing..
Weeks later I managed to book a phone consult off the 7am App. The GP called at 7.20 then 2 minutes into the chat had a proper go at me about my comment and said I'd hurt people's feelings etc.
I was shocked that a medical professional sabotaged my appointment to do this.
What I wrote in my private life has nothing to do with my medical consult - surely
Why is he reading through everyone s comments then using his position to say something ?
I feel it's inappropriate.
I've never even seen him as a patient.
I'm actually quite upset and feel I've taken the can for the other 62 people that made comments that day.
Maybe he was stressed but it's not ethical is it ?

If you're unhappy with GP or GP practice complain to the Practice Manager.

Otterock · 25/02/2024 15:23

To be fair, my surgery has a policy that if you publicly speak negatively about the practice on social media they’ll remove you as a patient. Wether they follow through or not I don’t know.

If you weren’t being malicious and just agreeing with general frustration then it seems like a bit of an overreaction on their part. But I also work in the medical field and see my practice slated often on community pages and it can be really disheartening when we all work so hard. So I can also see why they’d be sensitive to it.

If they had an issue they should of contacted you directly. You do have a point about booking systems theybare shocking. Ours opens at 8. You spend an hour getting through and no appointments left. Then they tell you to call tomorrow. Pre c19 it wasn't too much of an issue. You could book non emergency appointments but now they expect everyone emergency or not to use same day.

Your appointment was for a medical issue and that only should of been discussed. If he really felt like he wanted to discuss this with you then he could of spoke with you at the end of the appointment once your issues are dealt with. Did he complete everything you needed to speak about? I would do a complaint letter. Also he must of gone and searched your name and waited for your appointment. Surley that's a breach of privacy. He didn't just remember your name for weeks and then happen to take your appointment.

I dont think the issue is so much they were up set. I mean they must know its bad. The issue s they had all that time to deal with it and contact you, yet they used your appointment time.

I would contact the surgery and make a complaint. It's not acceptable.

Those that are saying it being OK because you commented on the post need to understand weeks went by and they should of dealt with it in a different way if it was an issue. They had enough time to contact you about it.

We all vent on social media, we also review and if it was at a time when you were frustrated trying to get an appointment it's obvious why you commented. It's why it's called social media.

So you now come on here to repeat the process and moan about them on here? I would say we can’t see the comment so don’t know what it was; you should be accountable for what you write and you need to recognise the impact simple comments you make may have on others. Whether the GP should have raised it with you I’m not sure but your taking offence demonstrates you did something wrong as you were embarrassed

Her issue is they used her appointment time she waited weeks for to discuss the issue. That is not the time or the place and its in appropriate. If there was an issue, they should of contacted her directly and not when she needed to speak about a medical issue.

I think you’ll find CQC and local integrated care board (ICB) have a comment about that. Patients can and should complain without automatic sanction of removal

Indeed. Quite the bombastic (false) statement

LBFseBrom · 25/02/2024 18:15

I do not get why people speak like that on social media. If a grievance needs to be aired, for goodness sake why don't they just go through the proper channels. There's something unpleasant and gossippy about doing it over WhatsApp.

Vonesk · 26/02/2024 02:50

Gosh, that means theyve become ' POLITICAL' just like the Police ( instead of doing their job that Theyre supposed to do)
Society has gone MAD!!!!!!
NO section of society is working anymore .
Everyone is just scoring poinnts - aside from the fact that its ATTACK on free speech. Youve been treated like a naughty schoolgirl. What a £ LIBERTY!!!!!!!!!

It's feelings, guys, they.need to toughen up, people can say things that hurt.feelings, you just move on. Woke society all over again. My feelings are hurt when I'm called bald, or.old I don't cry .

Hurt feelings is one thing....

These threads on social media often cross the line to alledging things like negligence, missed diagnoses or malpractice, things that can actually end up with a GP losing their job, often anonymous and with no course to reply.

Your post makes no sense whatsoever, other than you’re vexed and fond of exclamation marks & capital letters

I think the gp should make a separate contact to discuss any personal issues he has. I made a comment a couple of yrs back re my childs school and their mask policy, on my soc media but to friends only. Someone screen shot it and sent it to the head who rang me. He was very nice about it and it wasnt anything i wouldnt say to his face anyway but i was a bit suprised that one of my "friends" had sent it on. Back to the gp, maybe he should look at the feedback hes getting and do something about it because gp surgeries are a joke these days. No appts but when u go theyre empty. Everyone redirected to a&e where its rammed. Since all the covid bollox its all gone to shit but why is beyond me because we at least used to be able to get a same day appt if we needed to. So its no suprise to have a lot of people upset and commenting. I think the gp needs to look at how his surgery is responding to patient needs and why its so different to 4 yrs ago. But maybe only post what you have no issue saying direct.

If theres an anonymous complaint you arent going to lose your job as there has to be evidence- unless you speak out about the pandemic response and then its a free for all. It might be looked into but hearsay isnt gonna work
