Who's awake tonight and why?

Basically that. I'm awake with no sign of sleep, this is already late for me as I'm usually asleep by 10.30 ISH but I'm just so sick with two different things and also anxious as fuck so I'm just listening to a podcast with headphones on while my son sleeps beside me and just trying to survive the night.

I'm awake because my teenager DC has had a meds charge and now can't sleep. I'm extremely grateful the antipsychotic meds have been reduced because they were ok a maximum dose but the ADHD meds, basically speed, have been increased..things they don't tell you when parenting toddlers, teenagers are so much harder

Do you need to keep an eye on them?

I'm up,I've been in bed for nearly a week,I keep getting a raging temperature, keep shaking and going dizzy no idea what's wrong with me just hoping whatever it is sods off soon.

Oh that's sounds fucking awful! Week before last I was in bed for a week straight too sick, then felt I was getting better for a few days and was up and out but then something else has struck me and the original issue is back with vengeance too so I've spent yesterday and today mostly in bed as well and it's starting to piss me right off.

I have a very swollen and painful lymph node at the back of my head. I wish I could sleep- I have loads of work to do tomorrow 😕.

That sounds horrible! I have a lot to do tomorrow and I'm just going to wait til the morning and see how shit I feel before deciding what level of those engagements I can manage if any fs

Have just taken nytol tablet so hopefully will fall asleep soon.

im waiting for the Ddogs dreaming to start… then I’ll have the wagging tail, running feet , whining and barking going on😡 then she’ll wake herself up, wander around and flop back down again… rinse and repeat!!
I sleep through it usually, but there’s no sign of me sleeping yet!

Do nytol work? Might get me some of them. I've tried rescue remedy sleep drops but did fuck all.

Sending sleep vibes to everyone. My exH had an affair and we are selling the house. I’d had a period of calm about it but he’s ramping up getting it done and can’t understand that I can’t just reply to everything he emails immediately. He wants things doing (he’s moved out) and can’t seem to appreciate that he needs to do some of it himself or be here to let workmen in. I’m getting about 4 hours sleep a night at the minute. I know it’ll all get sorted but it’s stressing me out massively.

waiting for double dose of zolpidem to kick in….

I'd never sleep through all that. My dogs have to sleep downstairs or I'd never get any sleep. It's bad enough with the child beside me lol

Currently breastfeeding my 3w old.

Went to bed at 9:30 as DP said he'd take over tonight's feeding - but just couldn't settle, realised about 20mins ago that the heating was accidentally left on which has worsened my headache. Came downstairs to tell DP to just go to bed himself - no point in us both being awake 😩😩

could you have had the ”new” strain of Covid?
we both had it here before Christmas, and it’s a stinker. Left us struggling and exhausted for 3 weeks.

Gosh 4hrs a night, you must be like a zombie at the moment.

Yea the nytol do work for me but it's like a weird wipe out of a sleep.

Things seem to be changing in my whole sleep/wake cycle. Feel exhausted during the day but then get night sweats and insomnia at night. Wild!

Sorry for people in actual physical and mental pain though xx

CharlotteBog · 22/02/2024 00:34

I'm a night owl. 11-gone midnight is MY time.
Watched a couple of episodes of One Day, will listen to Barbra Streisand's autobiog (48hr read by her), while playing Candy Crush, then read my book (Letters to Iris) until the iPad lands on my face.
1/2 term so don't need to be up for DS(14) tomorrow, and WFH so can still be at my desk 9am ish.
I'll wake in the night (53 and peri) but that's ok.

Sorry to all those in pain (physical or emotional).
Give the babies a cuddle from me.

Nope we all had COVID in my house from boxing day through to the 10th January by the time it went round all 4 of us. So you can see why I'm so totally fed up of ill health right now.

Oh I envy you and wish I was night owl. I really suffer if I don't get enough sleep so I know tomorrow is going to be a killer.

Wow you're in newborn sleep deprivation mode. I feel you, they're hard days. I hope baby settles soon for you and you can get a few snatched hours before the next feed is due.

oh poor you, perhaps you’ve picked up something if you’re immune system is weakened after the Covid?

I used to like a sleeping child in with me, occasionally - they are adorable when asleep, mine used to laugh in his sleep! A snorey lazy German Shepherd takes up far more room and isn’t quite so cute…

SecretSquare · 22/02/2024 00:41

TheBlueAndAmber · 22/02/2024 00:16

I had the most beautful 2 hour sleep after work this afternoon… really blissful… now I’m tossing and turning and trying to get comfy.🙄
DDog is snoring away at the end of the bed. So jealous!

I am jealous that you are lucky enough to have a DDog Grin.

I'm awake as back late from a work trip and haven't wound down yet. Luckily an easy day tomorrow!

Definitely think I'm run down. I'm taking daily multivitamins and drinking plenty of water but still keep catching stuff and feeling crap.

The little one is okay 80% of the time but the kicks and arm flaps are not great 😃 oh my goodness not even a little dog, a giant dog!

Me, got awful heartburn and Rennies only help until I finish sucking, then it comes back 😭

Don't normally get it bad enough to take anything, so this is strange for me.

Nogodsnomasters · 22/02/2024 00:44

I think my podcast is too engaging. Might switch over to "get sleepy" podcast instead to see if I can even get drowsy.

Aw no that's awful! Try sitting propped up as lying down can make heartburn worse.
