I have posted on pregnancy but looking for more of a virtual hug and I love the chat thread.

I’m 12 weeks pregnant tomorrow, but this afternoon I had some bloody discharge. It’s calmed down a bit but still there.

Havent got a scan til later in the week.

How do I carry on with things day to day and try to “switch off” from it all. I can’t help think the worse.

I had the same at 11 weeks and then 14 weeks, I spotted for about a week each time. I was terrified at my scan, but it was all fine. Turned out to be a cervical ectropian. Have you contacted the early pregnancy unit?

@itsmschanandlerbong yes, I got an appointment with them through my GP.
I’m trying so hard to stay positive but my negative thoughts are taking over.
I’ve been in this position before and it wasn’t a good ending that time.
What causes cervical ectropian?

My 12 week bleed is now a 6ft 2, 41 year old so hang in there.

I agree with 'stay off google' - I've given myself every disease possible thanks to that.

Can you pay for a private scan for tomorrow? Rather than end of week. ( i did as i couldn't wait was £79)

I was planning on a private scan but would they still do one with me having a bleed?

I had an ectropion and my bleeding resulted in a bolshy 5 year old!

I know sometimes it’s bad news so I won’t tell you not to worry as, for me, that was impossible, but try to distract yourself. If you really can’t, try to sleep away the time. The time until your scan will pass, whatever you do and I hope it’s good news.

Yes they will as it should be an external scan at almost 12 weeks.

They should do, if there's a window to the womb or firstscan locally, they definitely will do a reassurance scan x

I’d book a private scan for tomorrow if possible. Just call around early in the morning as they might have cancellations! I wouldn’t mention the bleed though or they might just tell you to wait for your hospital scan.

Is it a lot of blood? Like is it filling pads? Is it red or brown? It can honestly be so many things. Pregnancy is so stressful!

I had the same with my daughter and I was convinced, after two miscarriages, that it was bad news. Luckily it soon stopped and the rest of the pregnancy was textbook.

It's so hard not knowing. Unfortunately, you'll feel rubbish until you find out, it's impossible to not worry. Hang in there and all the best!

I had this and I binged watched Desperate Housewives all weekend until I could get a scan. DD will be 18 years old in a few months. It’s hard to say don’t worry but it might take your mind off it to bring something silly / nonsensical.

@Kate3150 hormones, the blood vessels in your cervix are thinner which can cause them to bleed. I took a week off work after the second time and just rested and touch wood it hasn't happened again and I'm now 24 weeks. What colour was the blood?

@itsmschanandlerbong it was like rusty reddy colour. But it wasn’t blood on its own (sorry for TMI) it was like clear mucussy discharge with the blood mixed in.
It’s gone to browny discharge now, I keep going to the toilet to check 🙈

I had exactly this throughout pregnancy. It is scary, I assumed worse every time but luckily he stuck. He's now 2 and hates sleep. Virtual hugs x

Managed a good few hours of broken sleep.
Got up to the loo about 3 times, discharge is mainly clear now and a bit of brown but not much 🤞🏻
I just don’t feel like I’m pregnant anymore, I feel empty.

Any luck getting in for a scan today?

Brown is old blood... That's a good sign imo. Have you recently had sex op? That can cause a small bleed...

@Rosiiee - I’ve got a private scan booked for the morning, it’s the best I could get.

@Galeforcewindatmywindow - it’s gone red again this morning, not had sex recently. Really hard not to think the worst at the moment.

I can’t stop crying, im trying to calm down and watch a box set but I just want to keep going to the toilet to check what’s happening.
I’m so upset it’s gone red again.

I honestly don’t think you’ve had a mc. I had a 12 week mc and it was awful. I bled so much I had to be admitted and I was having proper contractions to pass the foetus. It’s really normal to bleed during pregnancy! I wish this was more normalised. Totally fair to be stressed out of your mind though. Hope the scan brings some reassurance ❤️

Gone back to brown discharge now, body really playing with me today. I don’t know what to do with myself. I feel I should rest but the thoughts keep festering.
