I have posted on pregnancy but looking for more of a virtual hug and I love the chat thread.

I’m 12 weeks pregnant tomorrow, but this afternoon I had some bloody discharge. It’s calmed down a bit but still there.

Havent got a scan til later in the week.

How do I carry on with things day to day and try to ā€œswitch offā€ from it all. I can’t help think the worse.

Aww it’s crap. I’ve been there and had it go both ways. Hopefully all is well. If you’re going to a private scan place just be aware they may not be great at bad news. I had an awful experience at one. Can someone go with you?

Kate3150 · 20/02/2024 10:37

@toomanyleggings - sorry to hear you’ve been through this too.
Yes, I’ve got someone going with me tomorow.

I had bleeding at this stage on my second pregnancy, it had been a twin pregnancy but one was gone, I bled/spotted the entire way through the pregnancy until I had ds.

@Happierwithouthim thank you for sharing your story, I’m sorry you’ve been through a scary time like this too.
I just can’t wait for this scan tomorrow so I’ll know either way, I just feel in limbo at the moment x

@Tittyfilarious81 - thank you, I’m sorry you’ve been through similar.
I don’t think I’ve stopped crying all day, I just can’t feel positive about it šŸ˜ž

Fingers crossed for you, love.

DrunkenElephant · 20/02/2024 14:17

I’m keeping everything crossed for you OP.

Please try and remember that while bleeding in pregnancy isn’t ā€œnormalā€ it IS common and doesn’t always mean the worst. Be gentle with yourself today x

Healthyhappymama · 20/02/2024 14:21

Hope all is OK with you. I had this was on and off from about 5 weeks, I was seen straight away to get it checked, the bleeding continued through to 3 months , went red, to brown and pink. I too booked a private scan at one pint they said everything is fine. Then I had a bigger bleed about 3 months, they said I had a low lying placenta. Such a worry but hopefully it will all be OK. Can't you get an emergency appointment so you are not worrying another day? I remember getting an emergency appointment 5 weeks x

watermelonsugar56 · 20/02/2024 14:30

Been there and thinking of you OP, the uncertainty is maddening, hope you get an answer very soon šŸ’xx

watermelonsugar56 · 20/02/2024 14:32

And fingers crossed for you I meant to add ā¤ļøā¤ļø

Kate3150 · 20/02/2024 14:34

@Healthyhappymama - I’ve tried so hard to get seen sooner but no avail. Just got to make it to the morning. I’m hoping things stay calm until then, I’m trying to stay calm myself but it’s easier said than done. X

I had a bleed with my son maybe 10/11 weeks and the drs sent me to the antenatal at hospital where they could do an internal scan. Which I can only describe as a plastic penis! Luckily my little boy was OK but it was so scary. What the internal mainly showed was lots of wind (great!)
Hope you get the reassurance soon x

Kate3150 · 20/02/2024 16:28

@Libertysparkle - thank you for sharing your story šŸ’œ
Did they say what could have caused your bleed? X

Have you had your 12 week scan yet? Your placenta might be sitting low hence the bleeding. I had placenta previa with my first but it moved up as the pregnancy went on.

JDJT · 20/02/2024 18:06

I had 2 big bleeds with DS. That's in between all the brown discharge and pink spotting. Second bleed was a big gush in the middle of the night, which woke me in a fright. There was so much that I fainted and fell down the stairs (not as bad as it sounds as it's a quarter staircase)😬 never did find out why I bled so much with him though. As I was going through it all I had so many mothers telling me they'd been through the same, so it's a lot more common than we realise i think!
I hope you get the reassurance you need very soonšŸ’•

Saymyname28 · 20/02/2024 18:24

I'm nearly 12 weeks and have had 2 bleeds. Baby completely unharmed. She said it was cervical irritation and no sex or orgasms for me for a while.

@Libertysparkle - thank you for sharing your story šŸ’œ
Did they say what could have caused your bleed? X

Unfortunately not. But quite a few people I knew said they had the same. I hope you are both OK.

Libertysparkle · 20/02/2024 21:23

Oh and yes I meant early pregnancy unit at the hospital

Franticbutterfly · 20/02/2024 21:26

I had the same with my first and she's almost 16. Try not to worry, it doesn't always mean the worst.

sprigatito · 20/02/2024 21:28

Sleep when you can, try to eat and drink, and keep using MN to distract yourself. There are loads of women here who will virtually hold your hand and keep you talking until you get some answers. Big hug Flowers

xoxoGGG · 20/02/2024 21:59

You okay OP? How did scan go? X

Tittyfilarious81 · 21/02/2024 07:23

@Kate3150 Hope all goes well for you today op x

Kate3150 · 21/02/2024 07:29

Thank you all, not feeling very hopeful.
Pretty much bleeding like I’m on my period, it will be good to get some answers though so can plan the next steps rather than be in limbo like this x
