Has anyone had a GOOD experience of DFS

We are looking to purchase a new settee + chair from DFS (the Ted Baker range). We have been in store twice and really like it. We also had a look at one in sofology bur despite the assistant stating several times they don’t work on commission he really did the hard sell to the point of desperate! Anyway, we are pretty much set on the DFS one.

I have just had a look on the Facebook page and its comment after comment about issues, warnings to avoid etc. Obviously that’s alarming but I know that people only go on social media when something bad happens. This is our first settee we’ve purchased new, we’ve always had second hand or really cheap ones, but we’ve moved and finally have more money now so want a decent one. But now I’m put off!

We've always used them and never had any issues. We have ordered the last two suites online after going in to look at them.

AuntieMarys · 18/02/2024 09:18

We have 4 sofas from them...9 years old and no issues. No problems with delivery either

Clickncollect · 18/02/2024 09:19

I’ve used them twice and never had any issues, good quality and longevity. Still to this day not sure how they managed to manoeuvre a sofa round a difficult corner in my house!

I have had several dfs sofas as well as next and M&S. I've had no problems at all with them. There was once an issue with an arm on a dfs sofa but they came out and fixed it within days. I currently have a joules sofa from dfs and it's lovely. Super comfy and easy to wipe over although they probably don't advise that. The delivery this time was speedy as well. No complaints at all here. Should add I have dogs and small children so my sofas always get a battering.

Nothavingfunrightnow · 18/02/2024 09:20

We bought our lounge suite from DFS in November 2004. I still have it, but it's looking tired in places! I'd replace it if I could afford to, but it's certainly given me my money's worth.

CattingAbout · 18/02/2024 09:20

No issues here either, 9 years on everything we got from DFS is only just starting to show it's age.

AgnesX · 18/02/2024 09:22

We have a leather recliner suite (around 6 years old I think) and still going strong, although my end of the sofa we sit in mostly needs restuffed, as my big bum is constantly sat there. DH's end is fine.

Notfastjustfurious · 18/02/2024 09:23

On my second sofa from them. First one lasted just over 10 years, no issues at all. Will probably buy again in another 10 years.

TheFlis · 18/02/2024 09:27

No issues at all with them. Showroom staff were brilliant and really helpful. Sofas arrived on time and after 2 years, still look brand new.

Nannyfannybanny · 18/02/2024 09:28

Have had several sofas from them,no problems at all
We bought coffee and lamp tables just before the first lockdown,so had several months to wait. The only reason our current sofas came from an independent company, was we wanted higher backs. We had a rep round from Plumbs 4 years ago,to give us a quote for covers, she tipped the sofas up to measure. I nearly passed out at her quote
Told her I could get new sofas cheaper, she said where. I said FFS, she said they only made rubbish, was very surprised when I told her THESE sofas are FFS and about 12 years old. We looked underneath sofas, from expensive places, they were made exactly the same.

No issues here either. Bought sofas and furniture. Now about 8 years old and good as new. Everything went to plan including delivery.

Nannyfannybanny · 18/02/2024 09:29

I did actually type DFS, the phone has very quickly changed it!!

Funderthighs · 18/02/2024 09:30

We’re on our 2nd sofa with them in 20 years, no issues at all. DD bought a sofa from them 3 years ago and again, had no issues.

cakeorwine · 18/02/2024 09:31

Absolutely fine.

We got ours in a sale Grin

And paid for it with no interest

Bluevelvetsofa · 18/02/2024 09:33

I’m sitting on mine just now. It’s the second we’ve had from them and I still like it.

Delivery was before they estimated and they were professional and speedy.

Pigeonqueen · 18/02/2024 09:35

Always used them. No issues at all. Always used their 0% interest to pay, delivery fine. Would buy again.

apwlgamgo · 18/02/2024 09:36

We've always used them, must be about 3 or 4 times now, only issue we had was during Covid when deliveries were very slow but we got our delivery fee back. Always been happy with the quality, they've always outlasted our needs and been easy to maintain, we have only changed due to moving and needing new shaped sofas etc (always sold on or gave away, they didn't go to waste).

MiltonNorthern · 18/02/2024 09:36

I have had 2, absolutely no issues. Current sofa is 3 years old and the most comfortable sofa I've ever had.

TheFairyCaravan · 18/02/2024 09:43

Ours is from the Country Living range. It’s really comfortable and still looks as good as new. I made sure that we got one with seat and back cushions that could be puffed up and turned over because the sofa will last longer, then, imo.

apwlgamgo · 18/02/2024 09:44

Oh make sure you upgrade to foam cushions, that is critical, my mum didn't and the sofa looked really worn after a short period. I also like scatter cushion backed sofas and they are easy to keep fluffed up and good as new.

Dapbag · 18/02/2024 09:53

We bought two sofas two years ago. They are great and still look brand new. Service and delivery were spot on.

We were advised by the salesman to upgrade to the firmer cushions which we are glad we did. They felt very firm at first but now, two years later, they are still looking and feeling like new. I wonder if the softer ones would be a bit saggy now.

Also, we bought the cleaning kit which wasn't cheap. I've not found it to be effective and wouldn't buy it again. You can get stuff from the supermarket that will do the job better.

apwlgamgo · 18/02/2024 09:55

Yeah I wouldn't buy the cleaning kit again either, if the sofa allows for scotch guarding or whatever it's called I think that upgrade is worth it, but not all sofas can get it (and that's when they tend to sell the kit instead).

travelallthetime · 18/02/2024 09:55

Had three sofas from them, all lasted really well. Had an issue with the arm being wobbly on our latest one (bought a year ago), they came and fixed it within the week and just under a year on it is still fine

TheRealKatnissEverdeen · 18/02/2024 09:57

4 different sofas (2 sales over 7 years) from them with no issues.

Lonecatwithkitten · 18/02/2024 09:59

Byes, sofa lovely, scotchguarding or whatever they call it now good. Don't bother with the things to make the sofa easier to move they fall off quickly.
Adore my sofa from joules range best I have had.
