Really bad uber rating

Apparently, anyway.

One of my eldest dcs friends has taken up uber driving for extra cash and was taking about it this morning, about some nightmare passengers he’s had. I never even knew about Uber ratings, apparently mine is really bad, he was shocked.

I’ve only ever used Uber in bad or emergency situations. Getting the dc from school to take to A&E, myself back and forth from many pretty harrowing hospital appointments over the years, dashes to my father in a care home when he’s had accidents, most recently up and down when he was dying and too and from his funeral as I was too upset to drive.

I’m never rude, always say thank you at the end but to be honest, I am usually quietly crying or silently shitting myself so I’m not exactly full of the joys and chatting.

I’ve had a couple of drivers try and chat but I’ve politely said I’ve had bad news, sorry, I just want to be quiet. Last one was the guy who drove me home after I’d sat with my dad as he died, he started talking to me and I said, I’m sorry, my dad just died in there, I don’t want to talk.

I know it doesn’t matter that much but I’m a bit pissed off that I’ve got such a bad rating when it’s mostly been trips to and from bloody hospitals.

I'd be pissed off too. Did you rate the drivers?

Edit: I've actually never used Uber so I'm just assuming you can rate them too

It's hard to see why you would get bad ratings for those kind of things. Do you accidentally slam doors? Eat in the car or take phone calls in the car etc?

I just checked mine and it's 4.8 and tbh I rarely talk to the drivers other then to say hello and thank you.

Did you tip? I would think not tipping properly would be the biggest reason for poor rating.

I would also suspect entitled vindictiveness of this nature.

But it's not "properly". Nobody is entitled to a tip and it's not the role of customers to top up wages by paying more than the stated price.

No eating. I’ve had a couple of times on the way back from hospitals where I’ve called dh. I’m always there when the car turns up. I don’t slam doors.

No. I’ve never tipped. I didn’t even know you could until recently.

I’ve always been pretty distressed to be honest, I just close the app, it’s really been the last thing on my mind when I get to my destination. Also, the rides cost me enough. I wouldn’t be able to tip on top.

Your rating doesn't sound terrible but I think lack of tipping is your issue.

He said that’s why I would have had lots of trips suddenly cancel, they see the rating.

I’ve never rated a driver either. like I said, it’s never a fun situation. If I get a notification from the app after a ride I ignore it/it doesn’t compute/I’ve got more pressing things at that moment.

Obviously a driver is going to be more likely to pick up someone who tips.

And gives positive feedback on the driver.

Mine is 4.83. As it’s out of 5, that seems very precise!!
I very rarely use them.

I don't always tip right away but just checked my rating and its 5.

If yes I wouldn't worry about it too much

They’re marking you down because you’re not rating them, it takes literally 2 seconds!

I got a one star review from a driver and also have absolutely no idea why. It's not like you know which driver was either to leave a bad review in return.
It's not caused me any problems with being picked up so I wouldn't worry.

I didn’t even contemplate it or even look at notifications. I’ve never used it in a good situation though, it’s always been high stress or going to get/coming back from getting bad news.

It’s honestly not been something I’ve ever thought about.

I have never used uber buy why can't you take a phone call in the car? That seems ridiculous thing to me. They are a taxi at the end of the day. I really hope uber never come in round here.

Mine is 4.0 which by the sounds of it means I am the devil incarnate.

I rarely use Uber and am a perfectly normal, polite 46 year old woman who is alway ready to go when my cab arrives.

4.91 and I never tip! I always rate and I’m not always talkative. I’ve also been a complete menace when I’ve used them to get home from a night out. So honestly I think it’s arbitrary.

I use Uber maybe 4-8 times a month as I can't drive. I use it for work and never tip because I can't claim the tip back, do always rate them though. Mine is 4.92.

Just looked back over my old rides and anything that is rated is 5*. So I must have one or two that are zero for some reason.

I think the 'anything less than 4.6' thing from your DCs friend might say a hell of a lot more about him than the passengers or other drivers. I wouldn't give it another thought.

Mine has only just gone back up to 4.9 but I mostly use it to get home after I've had a drink so I'm surprised it's that high.

If you don't use Uber often @Ouchmyarse could it just be one bad rating bringing your score down?
