Has anything you usually buy recently just disappeared from shops?

I cannot find 'cook at home' poppadums anywhere. Used to be in most supermarkets. I used to buy them all the time. I go to my local Indian shop for them sometimes but they've usually only got flavours I don't favour. The ready made ones aren't as nice and are usually in a load of plastic non-recylcable packaging which doesn't please me either.

I don't mean products that have been discontinued a long time ago, more so things that still exist but you just can't buy anywhere from recently!

Own brand coffee creamer is another one. Don't use it myself but I've heard people at work saying this often.

i was gutted when Waitrose stopped selling San Marzano tomatoes, they were my absolute favourite type and worth the extra spend.

they’ve also stopped selling Taleggio, which I thought was odd considering Sainsburys still sells it! I’ve noticed a reduction of stock variety in our local supermarkets for sure!

Conotrane cream ... kind of like a catch all cream for cuts and sore skin... smells like Parma violets and was cheap as chips. Have a tiny bit left, will be bereft when it's gone.

Clarnico mint creams Shock

Ora kitchen towels, the circular ones stacked as a cone. Loved them.

BarelyLiterate · 15/02/2024 20:15

English Cox’s apples.

They are the best apples by far. I used to eat them all the time but I found about four packs of them this season. They were constantly out of stock, even in M&S & Waitrose. The discount supermarkets don’t stock them at all, but they all sell tasteless foreign rubbish like Jazz & Pink Lady 🤮. Bring back proper apples!

This isn't recent, but Tyrozets

They've been discontinued because they contained an antibiotic, but they were fabulous for sore throats

It isn’t on Amazon at the minute but I’ve only been checking for about a week, must have just missed it!

Also not in any local supermarkets or chemist, I can order from boots for nearly double the price so I’m waiting to see if it pops back up on Amazon (silly really as it’s only 2 quid more expensive at boots)

Have you tried Olive oil? It works an absolute treat on cradle cap

RosesAndHellebores · 15/02/2024 20:19

Reduced Azeera.

MrsMoastyToasty · 15/02/2024 20:22

Tescos thin bleach (the watery stuff) in a large white plastic bottle. Used to cost about 50p a go.

trooc · 15/02/2024 20:23

Coleman's cheese sauce powder.

Tesco dropped it a while ago but Asda still had it, haven't seen it recently though

Surcare laundry capsules.

They sell them in my big Asda but I agree they’re very hard to get hold of. One branch of Sainsbury’s near me sells them too. I buy 4-8 packs at a time whenever I see them.

Aldi plain protein Yoghurt - was 500g tub, about £1.39 so cheaper than branded Skyr. Has totally vanished. Lots of small, flavoured pots, but not the big, unflavoured option.

Polo Fruits. Discontinued.

The only place I ever find these are in airport WH Smiths! I always buy them.

kalokagathos · 15/02/2024 20:27

Elvanse for ADHD. Doctors said that it's due to Brexit and spike in diagnosis. EU made a huge order and since they are a bigger client, they are a key client to the manufacturer... so a big stock of medicine reserved for a more important client..... we are now left with less sophisticated replacements.

EdithStourton · 15/02/2024 20:28

Tinned anchovies.
It's as if they've gone extinct.

And as for the version in bottles, the bottles have shrunk and you just get a layer of anchovies around the outside.

So I've gone and looked and apparently there is an international shortage due to El Niño.

Diamondshmiamond · 15/02/2024 20:29

Was coming on to say pg tips pyramid bags, and gutted to hear they're being discontinued!

They are biodegradable and seem to taste nicer than the flat ones. What are they thinking of, I don't want plastic floating in my tea!!

Clevs · 15/02/2024 20:30

Boxes of 12 eggs.

I got a tub of Conotrane on Amazon last week. It's known as magic cream in our house.

Simple brand roll-on deodorant. Have used it for years as it's unscented and cannot find it anywhere

BobnLen · 15/02/2024 20:38

Persil Colour powder, though you can still get it on Amazon

Campbells condensed mushroom soup, managed to find it in Home Bargains the other week after it disappeared from all supermarkets

Yes. I used to buy Campbells condensed tomato soup to use in sauces. Completely gone in Tescos.

toomanyflatwhites · 15/02/2024 20:40

Birds Eye fish chargrills - they were a small white fish fillet with sauce on top, frozen, in a little papery pouch that puffs up when you bake them (or can microwave). We used to have them with tomato and rosemary sauce (I think it was) and haven't been able to find in months, gutted as they were a simple but not too unhealthy dinner!

knightsinwhitesatin · 15/02/2024 20:41

Free range chicken thighs. Always used to get them from Sainsbury’s but they’ve stopped. Not seen them in Tescos or Asda either.

ashiningbeaconinspace · 15/02/2024 20:43

Powdered egg. Used to use it when baking cakes..

I loved those fish chargrills and also noticed they disappeared, they came in another sauce flavour as well.
