Rightmove house in the media

A house has been sneered at on twitter by a journalist so I went looking. In my opinion it's perfectly fine, take away the owners personal belongings its clean, tidy and neutral. I've seen some doozies on there this isn't one of them

"3 bedroom semi-detached house for sale in Thomas Drive, Prescot, L35" https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/144648836#/?channel=RES_BUY

Check out this 3 bedroom semi-detached house for sale on Rightmove

It's perfectly fine. They'll take all that stuff with them. I don't like the black shiny kitchen, but the rest of it is fine. £180k though! Nice price.

CHEESEY13 · 15/02/2024 17:55

I looked up the specifications: pretty well OK for 180,000. 3 bedrooms, well looked after by the look of it and a sizeable back garden plus off-road parking.
Above average decent, IMHO.
What on earth is there to sneer at?
That's snobbery for you!

Huhsaywhat · 15/02/2024 17:56

There was sneering on here yesterday too over the same house.

I know! It's been well looked after, neat and clean. Just snobbery because of the vendor's taste in furnishings.

Naptrappedmummy · 15/02/2024 18:04

The publicity will help sell the house.

LemmysBullet · 15/02/2024 18:06

Check out this beauty on Rightmove! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/homedecorationn_pictures/5007529-check-out-this-beauty-on-rightmove

Brokeandstuck · 15/02/2024 18:07

Id let people sneer if it got it sold.

Ouchmyarse · 15/02/2024 18:08

It’s just furniture and decor that won’t be to everyone’s taste. The kitchen units would be a pain in the arse to repaint but that’s about it.

SoupDragon · 15/02/2024 18:10

If you think it's perfectly normal and nothing to be sneered at, it seems odd to draw attention to it so it can be sneered at some more.

tillytoodles1 · 15/02/2024 18:14

It's not my taste, but it looks like a perfectly nice house once they remove all their furnishings.
As I said in a previous discussion, it's probably travellers who live there and that's how they like their houses to look.

akissbeforebed · 15/02/2024 18:15

I think the decor is terrible but that's down to my taste. I suspect the people who decorated it, love it and isn't that what you do to your home? As a house I think it would be a solid purchase for someone and the decor is, at the end of the day, superficial.

Dillydollydingdong · 15/02/2024 18:18

I saw that in the DM. Nothing wrong with the house. It's.nice and clean. You could easily get rid of the pink.

RestingPassportFace · 15/02/2024 18:26

Solid investment - good value for £
Haven't seen the article but it will be because of the big chintzy bows and the need to have SOAK and WASH in the bathroom, doubling down on the Live, laugh, love bollocks.

Dontlookatmelikethat · 15/02/2024 18:27

So it's been sneered at on MN, Twitter and the DM.

People are awful. I was recently house hunting and saw some crazy decor that wasn't to my taste, frequently. It.never occurred to me to get online and say "hey everyone, look at this house on Rightmove that isn't decorated to my own personal taste, let's all take the piss out of it and be really judgmental & nasty about it, that should make us all feel really superior and great about ourselves!"

RestingPassportFace · 15/02/2024 18:27

so WIPE next to the bog roll on top of the loo, would be my guess at what a sneery journo would write but the house itself looks fine, especially the outside yard and front.

Stringagal · 15/02/2024 18:32

Well I definitely recognise that dining table from a thread this week.

LemmysBullet · 15/02/2024 18:36

Stringagal · 15/02/2024 18:32

Well I definitely recognise that dining table from a thread this week.

Was that the thread about the lady who hated her new £1000 table in the conservatory?

Thedogsdindins · 15/02/2024 18:48

Not to my taste but I wouldn't be buying the decor. House looks well looked after.

BarbieDangerous · 15/02/2024 18:51

Why would you start a thread about a property that’s already been criticised on Twitter, the media AND MN already? Just to say, ‘hey guys. People hate this house but I don’t! Come and have a look.’

I hope the house gets sold due to the publicity it’s been given alone

Whoopaday · 15/02/2024 18:52

Not to my taste but I much preferred when people personalise their houses rather than bland them for selling. It looks in good condition and modern so once the furniture is out it’s good to go

Moier · 15/02/2024 18:54

Someone on here put this on two days ago.

Stringagal · 15/02/2024 19:04

LemmysBullet · 15/02/2024 18:36

Was that the thread about the lady who hated her new £1000 table in the conservatory?

Yes, pretty sure it’s the same one. Her husband chose it. Poor lass also got her interior decor ripped to pieces.

diddl · 15/02/2024 20:06

Stringagal · 15/02/2024 18:32

Well I definitely recognise that dining table from a thread this week.

Different chairs & it was in a conservatory with a grey carpet iirc.

Possibly the top was a slightly different pattern.

PutMyFootIn · 15/02/2024 20:08

Naptrappedmummy · 15/02/2024 18:04

The publicity will help sell the house.

This. It's probably the journalists house.

Atethehalloweenchocs · 15/02/2024 20:14

I fucking hate the people who advise you to only paint your rooms neutral colours, or only have this or that because of resale value. Life's too fucking short to give a shit about other peoples taste. This house looks like someone had fun putting it together and takes joy from it - not my taste, but so what. What an arse that journalist is.
