Rightmove house in the media

A house has been sneered at on twitter by a journalist so I went looking. In my opinion it's perfectly fine, take away the owners personal belongings its clean, tidy and neutral. I've seen some doozies on there this isn't one of them

"3 bedroom semi-detached house for sale in Thomas Drive, Prescot, L35" https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/144648836#/?channel=RES_BUY

Check out this 3 bedroom semi-detached house for sale on Rightmove

They just need to declutter and remove personal taste items that add to the clutter

the estate agent is wrong here for not telling them this unless they were after all the reaction , threads on this. Bad move on them for the householder

I actually think the sellers may have the last laugh here. That’s an average house, in an average area, for an average price- which would be over looked by many. Look how much press that listing has had now?!? Far more views than it would have had otherwise.

And a savvy buyer would realise that decor is in keeping with a Traveller family, and they are infamous for their housekeeping standards. I’m betting, other than some cosmetics if the fittings weren’t to taste, it wouldn’t need anything else doing and would be immaculate.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were owned by a Gypsy or Traveller family. That is quite common decor in their community. The women chose the decor hence why it tends to be more feminine. They also keep their homes spotless, which that one is.

I wondered if there was a subtext to the comments too.

No, think how much free publicity it's got!

Absolutely. That house will be spotless.

Yes I’ve seen this one a lot too - it’s not to my taste but I’ve seen worse on rightmove and I would have thought most people have too, so not sure why it’s circulating as the worst ever / most shocking decorating.

Also, the photos are taken for the purpose of selling the house so I think it’s a bit off just to sneer at it. If someone posts photos of their home on social media (MN for instance) for opinions then it’s fair game and people should give true opinions (same as when an OP will ask for baby name help and then get upset when people say they don’t like the chosen name). There is a time and a place for honest feedback and this isn’t it.

"Fine" is pushing it, it's clearly been the victim of a crass attempt at "modernisation". But yes no doubt the main thing people are laughing at is the furnishings - but let's be honest, they are pretty laughable.

Looking at the outside of the house, the neighbours should update their homes. It looks so much better than the houses either side of them.
