Come on Wellingborough!

tobee · 16/02/2024 03:38

Limited recount

tobee · 16/02/2024 03:39

From the BBC (on Kingswood):-

Tory MP Jacob Rees-Mogg blames a low turnout and insists Rishi Sunak's leadership is "solid" and "by-elections don't change that"

TooBigForMyBoots · 16/02/2024 04:11

Tonight has been a good night.Grin

ilovesooty · 16/02/2024 04:29

Serves them right for selecting Peter Bone's partner. I bet a good proportion of the Wellingborough voters are utterly disgusted by him.

IClaudine · 16/02/2024 04:40

Hooray!

Piggywaspushed · 16/02/2024 05:47

Waking up to good news!

Notonthestairs · 16/02/2024 06:00

Well!

newnamethanks · 16/02/2024 06:18

🍾🍾good morning all. Nice to wake up to some good news at last.

itsgettingweird · 16/02/2024 06:29

First thing I did on waking is come here to check in with results

🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

RafaistheKingofClay · 16/02/2024 06:42

🎉

28.5% swing in Wellingborough I think. 2nd highest of all time. 😂

Sounds like people aren’t to bothered by back to square 1. Which poor mug has to go on the media round and try to spin this?

Cheguevarahamster · 16/02/2024 07:19

Morning all. Happy Friday. Great news!

ApparentlyJames Daley still thinks there is no love for Labour. Who is he kidding? 🤣🤣🤣https://twitter.com/sturdyAlex/status/1758338242548555790?t=cl8kilUsStUcb2AK49Vo8Q&s=19

Good morning all! So nice to wake up to this news.

Had to give up on BBCQT last night - FB haranguing Lucy Powell because labour had to suspend a candidate - while totally ignoring the years Peter Bone got away with his behaviour before a by-election was called.

Roussette · 16/02/2024 07:38

I am an insomniac, brain too active at the wrong time of the day! However this time it was great at 4 a.m. to see the results.
The Kingswood appointee comes across really well, I like his soundbite that is all over the news this morning..."Fourteen years of Conservative government have sucked the hope out of our country."

Yep. Tory Party chairman on now...heard it all before
Turnout
Reform are trying to put Labour into Government..wtaf!

BIossomtoes · 16/02/2024 08:06

It seems that turnout in Wellingborough was poor, all the Tory voters stayed at home. I’m so enjoying watching the Tories die by a thousand cuts.

Starmer talks a lot about hope too. They need to put that front and centre between now and the election, keep talking about the party of hope.

L1ttledrummergirl · 16/02/2024 08:13

Last night's question time was awful, Jill Kirby (never heard of her so had to Google) being introduced as a columnist(shes in the shady mires of tory organisations), started the show on a lie, and it went downhill from there. Given the other guests, Lucy Powell did really well.

Fabulous news this morning though.

Notonthestairs · 16/02/2024 08:18

Jill Kirby, Director of right wing Centre for Policy Studies? "Columnist" hides a multitude...

AdamRyan · 16/02/2024 08:21

Tufton Street again!

pointythings · 16/02/2024 08:39

Meanwhile this just epitomises our government. Make it harder for the most desperate to get food bank referrals, probably with the aim of making the stats look better. I have no words.Angry

Jobcentres told to stop referring benefit claimants to food banks

DWP briefing says jobcentres should no longer issue ‘signposting slips’ over concerns about data privacy

Notonthestairs · 16/02/2024 08:42

Yes, that looks like a deliberate decision to create more hurdles (and more paperwork).

That's evil.

BIossomtoes · 16/02/2024 09:15

Every time you think it can’t get any worse these bastards find a way.

IClaudine · 16/02/2024 09:16

That is just needlessly cruel.

DuncinToffee · 16/02/2024 09:23

Much of Kingswood will come under JRM's constituency under the boundary changes, no wonder he is flapping amd moaning about FPTP

That GDPR excuse for food bank referrals is nonsense, isn't it? It's clearly a legitimate use of data to which the data subject consents.
