Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just about to drink my first cuppa, in my kitchen spot, in silence. I'm the only one up atm so the only sound is the boiler humming to itself and the kitchen clock ticking. Lovely 😊

I'll put the washer on when I've drunk this, put away last night's pots and have a tidy round.

Yesterday's hangover seems to have become a cold, just in time for half term. So I'm rather snotty & have a sore throat 🙄

My plan for the day is try out my new paint brushes. I didn't get round to it yesterday & have a couple of sets of peg dolls ready to be painted, before the end of the week, so they can be varnished next weekend. We might have that walk to Lidl too - or we might not. There's always tomorrow 🙈

Both girls were going to try and do all their homework over the course of the weekend so I'll see how that's going & offer any assistance. It's usually dd2 who needs help...with maths. If she does, I'll ask dd1 to have a look at it with her.

We're having gammon for tea, it's in the slow cooker already. Not sure what we'll have with it yet, maybe homemade chips and some beans 🤔 we'll see.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning,

I'm currently on my 2nd coffee. DS1 has a football match just now. I was going to go to the gym, but I'm also full off cold. Been up coughing most of the night. Going into my 2nd week now and everytime I feel like I'm getting better it comes back again 🤦‍♀️

So a day in the house for me. Need to strip the beds and put a couple of washes on and a quick tidy round. Then I think relaxing with my book and bath is in order later on.
Chicken pasta for us tonight for tea.

We still have another week of school, work and college and then finally a week off. Bring it on 🙂 Hope everyone has a lovely day.

ShipshapeShore · 11/02/2024 08:46

I tried to have a quiet cup of tea but then DH followed me down and started huffing and puffing over everything, then a child appeared... So I'm going to the gym and leaving them all to it!

I really want to squeeze in something crafty but my epic 'to do' list always seems to take over.

Hope you feel better @lucysmam

ShipshapeShore · 11/02/2024 08:47

Feel better too @Soccermumamir

Morning!

Just brought a coffee for me and DH up to bed. Put a load of washing on while the kettle was boiling. Ddog is snoring away at the bottom of the bed!
No real plans for today other than a walk and roast chicken for tea. We haven't had a nothing day for quite some time, so hopefully it'll be a nice recharge.
Have a good day all 😊

AndThatWasNY · 11/02/2024 08:49

About to go to play football, then off to a hilly walk (in the rain) followed by a trip to Crosby beach to see the statues and a pub Roast.

Shame about the drizzle!

MrsNandortheRelentless · 11/02/2024 08:50

I have the whole house to myself today.
So, strap yourselves in for my fabulous plans…..

Huge cleaning and clearing spree… laundry, mopping floors, clear a cupboard and sort through tonnes of bedding.

Followed by a bath & left overs from last night for my dinner.

Im struggling with motivation so have a Lewis Capaldi concert on with adverts, so when there’s an advert I’m jumping up and doing something.
So far I’ve done a wash load, emptied and filled the dishwasher, sorted a pile of bedding.

Bloody LOVE our Lewis, he calms the shit in my head. 😊

queenrollo · 11/02/2024 08:54

3 hour drive to the airport to collect our son on his return from a school ski trip.
It’s the first time he’s been away from home and we can’t wait to see him!
(then, obviously a 3 hour drive back home)

Tiddlywinks63 · 11/02/2024 08:55

Good morning!
So far I have emptied the airing cupboard out because DH says he’s going to paint it after he’s walked the dog.
I want to label all my coloured pencils because I’m fed up with squinting at the ridiculously minute writing on them 🙄, then get on with some drawing.
Chicken Forestière à la M&S for dinner with mash and green vegetables, yummy and a special treat because I deserve it!
Very kind neighbours took some bits to the tip for me yesterday so I will make a cake and take it round before I go upstairs to my craft room.

LeonoraFlorence · 11/02/2024 08:59

Good morning! We are away for the weekend. DH is at the gym whilst 4/5 girls are at the pool with the kids club and a group of new friends. I have littlest DD here while I have a coffee.
Today girls have lots of outdoor activities planned, hoping it stays dry. DH and I will take turns at joining in/looking after the littlest 2 at the adventure park.
Hope everyone has a lovely day!

lucysmam · 11/02/2024 09:01

@MrsNandortheRelentless I could do with some of that motivation right now!

@queenrollo I hope your ds has had an amazing time! It's strange when they're not home.

@Soccermumamir I hope whatever it is buggers off soon. I feel quite rough.

Morning!

I was going to go into town for the Chinese New Year celebrations, but it's raining and I've got some sort of fluey bug.

I'm currently working myself up to making a cup of tea and fantasising about a full English breakfast! Must also put washer on.

frozendaisy · 11/02/2024 09:01

Homework (for teens)
Maybe a wander to local at lunchtime for a drink and a board game
Roast dinner
TV
Bed

BCBird · 11/02/2024 09:03

Visiting a friend. We going out to another friend's for lunch. Will probably go for a walk too. Have cooked gammon in Coke in slow cooker and even though it was delicious the sugar upset my stomach. How do you cook ur gammon?

Halloweenrainbow · 11/02/2024 09:04

Plans for early-bird bus trip down to the shops derailed by miserable weather and what seems to be the start of a sore throat.

Will probably spend the day pottering about and eating crap.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 11/02/2024 09:07

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I've had a tea and a coffee and am watching children's TV because dgs1(4) is here. He arrived yesterday for a sleepover and we have had the best time. Tea party on the living room floor which morphed into a picnic style lunch. I built him a den in the living room which he is hiding in at the moment, playing with his Nintendo switch (he thinks I don't know). We are going out for breakfast soon and he is very excited at the prospect. Once he is picked up, I'll tidy up then visit mum then collapse. Steak pie for dinner. Enjoy your day

Thislittlekitten · 11/02/2024 09:07

Morning all.

Im having a quick breakfast. Working soon. Stayed in bed to long as DS was in with me not well. Up most of the night. Will be a long day.

We are in Scotland so no half term until Friday. Wish it was this week, DS could do with a few days rest.

Not sure DH and kids plans. Prob a quiet one with DS ill. They might mooch about the house watching tv and playing games.

Minniliscious · 11/02/2024 09:10

Sitting here with the cat on my lap, watching the rain whilst DS plays on his PS4.

We’ve been invited to my parents for a roast today as DH is at work. Just got a text saying they’ll be having pre drinks with their neighbours at a lovely country pub so we’ll be meeting them there at 1.30.

Then back home tonight to watch a film with DS and hopefully get an early night.

JMAngel1 · 11/02/2024 09:13

Morning everyone.
Half term this week here - I have two days off which will be lovely.
I’m still in bed having been brought a lovely hot cup of tea by DH - I’m feeling very Lady Muck!
DD2 has just been in and bounced around the room like a tornado so think DH is going to take her out for a kick about to burn up some energy.
DD1 still asleep.
Plans for today
Usual kitchen/bathroom/laundry chores
Very excited for a delivery of an antique ladies writing desk that I found yesterday - the vendor is coming this morning and I cannot wait - it’s going to go in our new loft conversion as my dressing table. It has so many drawers I’ve been planning what to put where!
Once the desk has arrived, we’re going to the Trafford Centre as DDs are itching to spend their Xmas money.
Probably her food out whilst there so I won’t have to cook tonight - yay!!
Everyone have a lovely day and I hope you both feel better soon.

Must be different in different areas as I'm lothians and we're on half term.

@BCBird I've just put the gammon in, on it's own. No faff & it'll go with whatever we decide later on.

Hello op! I'm about to get up and shower to take kids to a bird park for a few hours. But I'm really cosy with the cat so I'm putting off getting up. After that we'll just have a bit of a chilled day, we were away last week and I feel like I need to just not go anywhere for a bit. Been planning where to stay for a take that concert in a few months. Ooni pizzas tonight!

lucysmam · 11/02/2024 09:18

Ooh @JMAngel1 your new dressing table sounds fabulous! I dream of having a proper dressing area - my room is a shit hole dumping ground 😥

Just finishing breakfast, my usual egg, smoked salmon and tomatoes with a croissant as a Sunday morning treat! I'll make a cup of coffee in a minute.
My DD is away in Portugal on work experience so it's sooooo quiet (she'd still be asleep anyway, but I feel the emptiness in the house). It's a bit wet and drizzly out so will delay dog walk a bit. Load of washing a bit of tidying but really don't plan on much - doing some work on my Etsy shops.
Yesterday I went to the Coco Chanel show at the V&A and walked loads and with the weather today feel like I just want to hunker down. Unfortunately it's also raining in Portugal!

Peridot1 · 11/02/2024 09:28

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. I missed yesterday’s thread for some reason.

I have been up a while just sitting drinking tea and had some toast. DH is not long up.

I am heading to Australia tomorrow for a month so today is mainly getting ready and organised for that. I have some washing to do and also need to start packing the piles of things that are currently on the spare bed.

I need to clear out the fridge so will make some soup to freeze with the vegetables I know DH won’t use when I’m away.

Roast pork belly with chorizo and fennel stuffing for dinner courtesy of DH.

07whatever · 11/02/2024 09:31

Pick up DS from grandparents, do a bit of housework and watch the football. Not sure what lunch/tea we will be having today so no doubt a debate with DH about it at some point
