Surprised at Waitrose staff member!

I was in Waitrose earlier and used their customer loo.

As I was washing my hands, a member of staff came out of the other cubicle and left without washing her hands.

I was genuinely shocked!
Would you tell the store?

Ooh definitely. Hopefully they'll sack her

🙄

SaintJulian · 04/02/2024 14:35

I'd hope they'd remind all their staff of the importance of hygiene.

So I work in retail and someone complained to me the other day about this and it was actually a manager that had gone in to put more toilet roll in and then had gone up to our staff toilets to wash her hands as it's nice up there .

Just saying there is always another story

Having said that I have seen cafe workers go into the toilet , heard them flush and wash their hands but with their apron on which I think is gross 🤢

YabbaDabbaDooooo · 04/02/2024 14:39

No, I'd tell her mum on her.

Seriously though it's grim but if that caused genuine shock, you must be having a pretty rough ride through life.

TheOccupier · 04/02/2024 14:39

Maybe she only went in there for a cry, because some customers are arseholes?

Hobnobswantshernameback · 04/02/2024 14:39

Yes please do
hopefully she will be taken outside and publicly flogged

Hobnobswantshernameback · 04/02/2024 14:40

Good job elbowing in there how jolly middle class you are by emphasising the Waitrose bit

At Waitrose prices? 🤣🤣

OpalOrchid · 04/02/2024 14:41

Wouldn't happen in Asda.

Organically and sustainably flogged, natch.

Ooooooooy · 04/02/2024 14:42

Maybe she didn’t use the toilet- she could have walked in, saw it was in a state, noped out of it and left to alert cleaning teams?

I would have thought Waitrose would have staff only toilets too that they’d use as a preference. so maybe she walked in to the customer ones as she suspected someone of stealing and was seeing if there was discarded packaging or something left behind.

Other reasons I’ve been in a cubicle but not used the loo - checking my phone (are retail staff pulled up for using phones on shop floor?), adjusting my outfit eg tucking/untucking something that might look a bit weird if I did it by the sink in view of others.

I have sensitive skin, maybe she can’t use the soap left out? Especially if it’s fragranced.

Other reasons could be maybe she was crying or just needed to grab some loo roll to clean up something outside.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 04/02/2024 14:42

This is no ordinary public flogging ....

DillDanding · 04/02/2024 14:42

Imagine working in Waitrose and having some busy-body watching you like this 🤨

YabbaDabbaDooooo · 04/02/2024 14:45

Mind you when you consider a cashier will be touching and scanning every single item that's just been touched by the customers anyway....

AutumnCrow · 04/02/2024 14:47

Maybe that toilet cubicle is her time travelling device and she had just come back from an inherently clean adventure in the future.

Sprocketty · 04/02/2024 14:48

Do you think all the customers have washed their hands after going to the toilet?

This, this, and this again. Especially Waitrose customers.

My thoughts exactly.

newnamethanks · 04/02/2024 14:49

I don't think you understand the nature of germs OP. Any bacteria encountered would have been Waitrose Bacteria.and that is no ordinary bacteria. I suspect you of working for Aldi. Or Lidl.

How do you know what she was doing in there?

I'd assume she was probably sending a text, on the basis she's probably not allowed to do so on the shop floor.

GreenWheat · 04/02/2024 15:03

You're picking up items off the shelves that people have sneezed over, little kids have touched with their grubby hands, warehouse staff have moved around. I really don't think this other one will be the fatal one.

blooddroprubies · 04/02/2024 15:03

Maybe she was crying not peeing.

blooddroprubies · 04/02/2024 15:04

Or touching up her makeup.

She was probably Mumsnetting about the genuine shock she's just caused some poor woman Wink
