What was a winning present for DH

What were your winning presents for your DH? I need inspiration! I can't think of anything he 'needs'. His birthday is next week. I can't get out much, so online would be great. He's not into golf, cycling, football etc. Early 40s.

Binoculars? Surprise present for dh years ago and he loves them.

Bit of local art by a local artist?

Hatty65 · 01/02/2024 19:59

I mean, mine loves a chainsaw. It's probably not to everyone's taste.

Theatre tickets.

A really nice chunky sweater from Gap.

A dog.

I would suggest something that has been handcrafted and of which there is only going to be one. My husband really loved the beautiful individual drawings of our three dogs, who were his pride and joy. I also had a couple of pieces of sporting equipment made for him that meant they were very personally tailored, rather than off the shelf. Or the re-creation of an experience that you have both remembered with great fondness - a particular trip, maybe?

A day where you do everything and he can chill

We ( me and daughter) bought mine a Scheppach Wacker Plate a couple of years ago and he was thrilled with that as he was landscaping the garden , again not to everyone’s taste .

A set of chefs knives and a heavy griddle pan, he likes to cook. They've had a lot of use. Thermal leggings and a Lidl oodie. A pack with different types of jerky.

A drone. It cost a bloody fortune though! This one, which is apparently the right one. My DP often asks to send his presents back and get the version of the thing he actually wants, but he approved this one. It's excellent.

A 3D printer - he loves it and it's actually surprisingly useful.

PermanentTemporary · 01/02/2024 21:01

Apple noise cancelling headphones. They are fucking awesome when I borrow them

Rory Stewart's book. He is eating it up.

Westpoint · 01/02/2024 21:02

For me experiences always go down well.

The time he always goes on about (fondly!) was admittedly a bit of a splash as it was his 40th. I booked us a night at the Shard and took him to the opera at Covent Garden - got tickets in a box which made it seem extra special (but often are cheaper!!).

ETA - neither of us had ever been to the opera before so it was extra special / swanky!

A 'meater' it's a probe you put into meat and
it uses Bluetooth to cook any thing to perfection on oven, hon, BBQ - bought one for DH and he loves it!

wouldgobackagain · 01/02/2024 23:31

Another vote for Meater along with a cookery class at Weber Grill Academy.
Spicery subscription
Theatre or gig tickets, if possible with
night away if I organise the DC sleepovers.

My DH would love a decent set of binoculars so that's for that idea @Catsfrontbum

PandaG · 01/02/2024 23:38
