What was a winning present for DH

What were your winning presents for your DH? I need inspiration! I can't think of anything he 'needs'. His birthday is next week. I can't get out much, so online would be great. He's not into golf, cycling, football etc. Early 40s.

Mine likes jigsaw puzzles and tinkering with electronics. A relative got him a ROKR Marble Parkours that you build out of plywood kind of stuff. He absolutely loved it! Kept him occupied for ages over the very rainy Christmas holidays Grin They do other stuff you can build too... clock, motorbike, the Eiffel Tower... years of presents!

He also likes baking and I got him a pastry/biscuit cutting roller wheel thingy that makes biscuits with wavy edges, which was a big success on the price vs enjoyment scale. And a Contigo flask that you can drink out of that keeps his tea super hot. He had a good year!

Freestanding hammock for the garden.

Without a doubt my DHs favourite present ever.

Strokethefurrywall · 02/02/2024 00:40

I got my DH a supercar track day in Edinburgh when we visit the Uk at Easter.

It's his 40th later this year and I'm going o have to find something even better. Should have saved it really!

Low key but his favourite present this year was a pair of socks I knitted for him in secret! He wears them again as soon as they have been washed!

Mumoftwo1312 · 02/02/2024 01:04

Box of chilli sauces with tasting notes cards - I mentioned this on an Xmas thread, it was fab

A flannel shirt by Levi's

For his first father's day I got a glass chopping board with a photo of dd's "art" on it (it was when she was about 9mo at nursery, just smearing paint) - you scan the art and they print it onto the backing behind the glass

Pyjama bottoms from boden

Long sleeve pyjama/base layer type tops from m+s... he absolutely lives in them

A fleece - also lives in it

Lip balm and shower gel in his favourite brands

Great thread btw!

Guitar lessons - I, however, may have regretted them due to the practicing and tuneless singing every couple of days 😳

A gift voucher for Machine Mart because he thinks a man can never have too many tools

MadCattery · 02/02/2024 01:12

Leatherman multi-tool. He’s never without it. Wireless earphones, so he can web surf in bed when I’m sleeping. Cookies. A crisp white shirt.

A lathe. He’s into woodworking. I didn’t wrap it though. I couldn’t lift it.

I mean, mine loves a chainsaw. It's probably not to everyone's taste.

Mine too. Got him a smaller pruning chainsaw for Christmas and he was so happy.

Torturedsoul · 02/02/2024 09:24

Star Wars lego kits, especially the helmets.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 02/02/2024 09:27

Mine would love a log splitter and steak stones.

SM4713 · 02/02/2024 09:32

These are some things I've bought over the years, and a few other suggestions:

  • BBQ smoker
  • BBQ cooking class/lesson
  • Sail boat experience
  • Learn to fly a plane experience. I bought the voucher for a 4 seater plane, so I could sit in the back and go too 😀
  • Glider intro lesson
  • Night vision camera for the garden. He loves seeing if its a hedgehog or rat eating the food!
  • If he works from home, a bird feeder/bird bath or something to look at out the home office window
  • Head torch
Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 02/02/2024 09:37

Perfect Draft beer dispenser, he loves it

howlongtilsummer · 02/02/2024 19:49

Thank you. Really appreciate all the suggestions.

So...the presents that went down best with him were earphones, new bbq tools and a damp/mould meter thing! Keeping hold of this thread. Thanks again.

Mine loved smart bathroom scales that show your visceral fat, muscle mass etc.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 07/02/2024 20:12

Aeropress. Looks a bit clinical, but DH swears it makes the best coffee he's ever had (I don't drink coffee).
