Can’t sleep…why are you awake?

chitofftheshovel · 29/01/2024 02:30

I go through periods of not being able to sleep, evidently now is one of them. I can’t really put my finger on why this time round.
Anyone else up and about?

@ilovemyspace thanks, I'm ok now but I had to check my body for wounds when I woke up 😫
I generally don't sleep well just before and during my period, could your one night a month be linked to that? Or the moon?! 👻

Peanutsforthebluetit · 29/01/2024 03:02

@Zandra123
sorry for your loss, beautiful boy 💐

I woke up for no reason and made a cup of tea.

Apples125 · 29/01/2024 03:04

I have terrible acid reflux, had it a week now, it was getting better but apparently not. No way I can lie down 😔

This is about usual for me, I'll probably fall back asleep just before the alarm goes off 🙄

Probably doesn't help that I've had early nights all month to distract myself from cracking open the wine for dry January. Plus yesterday went on a long tough walk and was so knackered I went to bed before the DC.

As usual thinking about all the shit I have going on at work this week. When I first woke up I felt really sick and I actually felt a little hopeful that I might have a bug that could keep me bed bound for a few days. But I feel better now.

I hope you all manage to find some rest soon.

33 weeks pregnant and it just seems to be the way it goes right now 😂 I'm sleepy but can't sleep...

congratulations!! You’re being prepared for the sleepless nights ahead (it’s actually not that bad).

@HorseRaddisha thanks, I'm ok now but I had to check my body for wounds when I woke up 😫 - Im sorry, but that made me laugh.......... even though it's so true!

I'm on HRT so it's not my period - but maybe my body just remembers PMT and periods and does this for old times' sake??! 😂

In A&E with my 85 year old mum who fell in her care home. Awaiting X-ray. No sleep for me tonight, but thankfully mum dozing

Oh no, bless you. That’s really tough for you. Glad your mum is able to dose. How is A&E tonight?

@chitofftheshovel thank you. We came in by ambulance and luckily straight to a bay but all bays are full and staff rushing around as always. Not sure how long the wait for an X-ray and then possible admission will take. But yes, she's ok after morphine and sleeping

I’m pleased your mum is being attended to in a timely manner. We hear so many horror stories. I guess, like most things, people talk more about the bad than the good.
Take care of yourself.

No idea why I woke up, but o can’t get back to sleep because I keep expecting my toddler (who is a rubbish sleeper) to wake up…

ilovemyspace · 29/01/2024 03:42

@haribosarebest In A&E with my 85 year old mum who fell in her care home Sounds like she's comfortable at the minute - which is probably more than you are! I hope your mum is seen soon and that all is ok

mumstheword001 · 29/01/2024 03:43

I feel for you! I’m in the same situation. Not quite as bad but I’ve been up since 12am with a poorly toddler. Hope we both manage to get some sleep! 😴

Littlebitpsycho · 29/01/2024 03:48

Just stress I think. I've got a lot going on at the moment.

I can always get to sleep, I just can't stay asleep, if I happen to wake up (tonight it was because OH forgot to switch off the heating and I was dying of sweat!) I can NEVER fall asleep again.

I've given up as I've got to be up at 5 anyway for work 🙄 the joys!

Oblomov23 · 29/01/2024 03:49

Been awake all night. Lord knows why. What a mess.

1stTimeMama · 29/01/2024 03:51

I'm in resus with diabetic ketoacidosis. I had no idea I was diabetic until tonight. I've been told I'll be here for at least 48 hours, and I left my house tonight without saying anything to my children because they were all in bed. So now I feel in shock at my new diagnosis, and guilt because I won't be home for a few days.

Takemeback2thestart · 29/01/2024 03:52

Wishing life hadn’t turned out like it has. I’m an absolute mess, I should never of become a parent. I've fucked it all up.

FlamingoQueen · 29/01/2024 03:52

Not sure why I woke up, but now have list of things going through my head that I need to do at work today! I’m a few weeks into a new role and whilst I like it, it’s doing my head in!

I’m sure that’s not true and is just the witching hour making everything worse for you. Be kind to yourself and about yourself. Today is a new day.

Golly, that’s a lot to take in for you.
Try not to feel guilty, your children will be fine.

I’m at A&E. Got terrible stomach pain and called 111 about 10pm. They said they were sending an ambulance despite me saying DH could drive me. Ambulance service then called to triage me and said it was too long a wait and to make my own way A&E.

Been here about 4 hours so far and the wait time is 6 hours.

Stupid thing is the stomach pain stopped after 3 hours and I’m now feeling fine. I’d leave but I’ve got a cannula in my arm which no one will remove and I may as well wait for my blood test results since it too them 7 attempts to get what they need 😬.

pineapple7peach · 29/01/2024 04:04

I can’t sleep at all and I’m up for work in 3 hours! Really anxious about getting through the day :(

PeopleAreWeird · 29/01/2024 04:05

My routine is buggered but awake, thinking about some medical stuff

MissMarplesNiece · 29/01/2024 04:07

I woke up with a diabetic hypo. I've had some orange juice to sort that out but now can't get back to sleep again.

@1stTimeMama, it must be an awful shock for you to find yourself in hospital and to find out you're diabetic in this way. How old are your children?

@haribosarebest I've been in a&e with elderly DM a few times - it's horrible and so uncomfortable.

PeopleAreWeird · 29/01/2024 04:08

May not be 6 hours @HolidayHappy123

I got told 2 hours but it was 5 hours before i saw a dr
Then got admitted but no beds so sat in A&E for a very long 21 hours before a bed become available
